Curse of Darkness is probably the best 3D Castlevania. Not saying a lot, but it's something.

Most likely. That was the case for thr game I mentioned. Users here only figured it out cause the game maker was interviewed and asked of there was any secrets nobody ever figured out and he gave a vague description and acted like he couldn't remember all thr details but it was a debug room. IIRC Rogue Squadron, which came out half a year before Phantom Menace, has a hidden Naboo Starfighter nobody discovered until after the movie came out, when the devs gave out the cheat for it. --- Hello ... That's pretty cool. I remember a secret screen for Kirby's Dreamland 3 boss rush doing it no damage was discovered over 2 decades after its release too.
