Sharing my own thoughts...

Finished Chapter 2 last night. The storytelling and OST are top-notch so far.

What I loved most about Chapter 2 was that it didn't end after the revelation that Bestia had killed Pauline. Couldn't easily ended there for shock value, but instead it explored Bestia's reactions, backstory, and his failed attempt to make peace with himself.

Overall, so far I love that it's an interconnected group of stories (novellas, really) told within a frame tale. I started Chapter 3 and can't wait to see how this next tragedy unfolds.

Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition (PS4)

Loved it. Like most RE games, it starts out incredible and fades down the stretch, but the first-person perspective. the fresh boss fights, and shockingly good storyline made this stand out for me.

End of Zoe DLC was also pretty awesome.

The Sniper Wolf battles were excellent as well.

Gotta play Yakuza on higher difficulties to get the real tech going, can't mash through there.

Heavily disagree about the games not being engaging, they're super engaging to me, moreso than most games nowadays.

I didn't like Yakuza 0 (aside from the story), but if I play Kiwami, I might have to pump up the difficulty.

The Last Guardian has been in my backlog since 2016. Still haven't found the motivation to play it, but since it's short I'll probably fire it up soon.

I got lucky and beat him on my first try, but there are definitely a good few bosses in Bloodborne that can go fuck themselves. It's the only FromSoft game I've played to date and it was a toughie for me.

Strangely enough, I almost beat Father G on my first try. Then it took me 15 tries after that (plus the Music Box) to finally win.

So far I'm enjoying it. Just beat the Blood-Starved Beast the other night.

These characters are overwhelmingly male (or have an option where you can pick a gender) and/or Japanese.

Seems likely that the last three characters will be a similar theme. So for the final three characters, I feel like famous JRPG characters (Crono, Magus, Frog, Squall, Auron, Balthier, Lightning, Noctis, Tidus, Sora, Lloyd Irving, Kratos, Yuri Lowell, etc etc etc) are not at all out of left field. Sora probably would have already been in if Disney wasn't such a pain to work with, and I wouldn't have my hopes up for him.

Beyond that, likely characters would be Ryu Hayabusa, Dante, something from Soul Calibur, a random fighting game character from out of left field, or who really knows. That's the whole fun.

• Can't see us getting another Square character after Seph. If by some miraculous chance we did, Crono, Terra, Squall, Tidus, Lightning, Noctis, Sora, 2B, and Lara Croft would have a shot. No chance of a supporting character like Magus, Balthier, etc. getting in before their game's lead.

• Lloyd or Yuri (or possibly Velvet, although she clashes with your Japanese male theory) have a decent shot. That said, Nightmare from Soul Calibur might be the more likely Namco rep.

• Ryu Hayabusa seems more likely than any other character at this point. Nintendo and Tecmo have partnered before, so why not. If this were Vegas, he'd probably have like +200 odds of getting in, whereas anyone else would have +500 or more.

• Dante seems like the most obvious Capcom choice at this point, but don't rule out Phoenix Wright.

• Tails, Eggman, and Shadow are obvious choices if Sega gets another rep.

• Crash wouldn't surprise me.

• And don't forget 1st party Nintendo characters. Rex, 8th Gen Pokemon, etc.

Yes, but sadly the big budget developers don't take creative risks they once did in prior generations. I'm playing Parasite Eve right now, and even though it's heavily flawed, at least there are fun, fresh ideas involved.
