Starts off very interesting but then plummets once you reach Tokyo.

The game was also very very disappointing for me on so many fronts not just the story (which I didn't have high expectations for, in the first place).

You're in the minorities of minorities there then. Slog is the last word I'd expect from even the harshest of Suikoden II detractors (which again are very rare) used to describe the game. Understandable if turn-based JRPGs aren't your thing but then your very next sentence describes the original as better. But then again, there are people in this world who prefer a two dollar steak to fillet mignon so you really cannot rule out any kind of wild take.

This one really stings. Another one of those matches where the game won due to play rate instead of quality.

Haha appreciate the positive feedback! Im bummed I couldnt do it either because there were a lot of movies here I was looking forward to seeing. I basically knocked out the ones I wasnt excited for or had already seen and all the good ones were still waiting.

Geez only 5 after 3 weeks

I plan to. Summer was a write-off for a bit. didn't watch any films at night for some reason. But I was already more than halfway through the list base starting level so I should be able to power through it.

There is one re-watch I've been dreading to watch because it sort of contributed to the death of my interest in the genre. I'd really like to get it out of the way first, but I've tried to start it three straight nights to start it and always decided to just play a game instead.

I might need to start elsewhere to get some forward momentum!

I would love to, but I'm only 14 movies in. My August and September got busy and I completely fell off. I likely won't have a list in unless there's a huge extension (like a full month), but I wouldn't do that for me. Sorry! I'll definitely be following along and commenting on the 14 I did see, at least.

Two left. Gonna try and finish them today, but Irishman is the longest film on the list.

It came out way too late to make this list but 2022's The Outfit is a great take on the organized crime genre and I would've loved to include it here

I also enjoyed through these chronologically, really got a sense of how the genre has evolved in conversation with itself.
