I feel a lot of people missed when I talked about not liking the changes is because this current iteration of square can't tell good stories. Anything new and different was gonna suck just because of that.

Oh no, I was just not including 2005-2006 for PS2 though. My point was I was comparing the PS3 era (when PS2 should have been dead) to a time when the Wii was still years off is successor. That should tell you something completely different.

It's really not a surprise to think that earlier games had more infuence on an old genre.

Other genres and franchises would obviously have newer reps. I mean no one is doubting BotW gets on Zelda's or Metroid Prime for Metroid. Ya crying just to cry

Probably about as many as the Wii? Skyward Sword and Galaxy 2 are the only games I can think of in that 2010-2013 space. Maybe Kirby was in there?

PS2 definitely had God of War II and Persona 4 post-ps3 release. (the wii was buried by the time wii u came out, in time to bury itself)

Yeah you're right I guess there's no difference between the ps2 dropping off 10 years after it's released and the atari jaguar within 1 year.

Every single console drops sales over time, too.

The Wii dropped BIG by the time even Skyward Sword came out, and it was till two years off the ill-fated Wii U. 2010-2017 is the dark era of Nintendo and the Wii is part of that.

People talk about the Wii like it was the old Switch, but that party only lasted like half the lifespan of the Switch, which has clearly proven itself to be much more.

That game A) brought multiplayer into the series which became the default, B) brought the platformers back into the mainstream in a way they hadnt been for a while, and C) was one of the main selling points for the Wii at its peak.

A) Yoshi being introduced in World sounds about as big of a deal. Yoshi is in nearly every game going forward, and has his own series. But otherwise a fair point.
B) Maybe? Rayman and Donkey Kong would come back after, but that's all I could think of for mainstream titles. I guess Kirby threw in multiplayer too, but casual mainstream platformers is still a tiny genre.
C) Eh who cares? The Wii is a dubious era to celebrate anyways because it clearly had fad-like properties. But even then every mario game is a best-selling game for its console.

So I can agree World can get replaced, but I'm not convinced NSMBWii deserves it more. Maybe if that original NSMB game didn't exist I would do it.

So Vincent and Cid are not playable yet?

World is the one that I'd take off for not having as much influence (although Yoshi is a big deal)/

That's crazy I just beat Half-Life 2 yesterday for the first time.

I just barely prefer Half-Life 1 but it was one of the finest FPSs I've played so far.
