ive gotten adventurous with chili before. potatoes in chili make it fucking awful. also tried like cocoa powder in chili, lots of places online claimed it made a delicious mole flavor but it totally ruined it.

How much did you use? Like a teaspoon of cocoa powder in chilli just gives it some body but I wouldn't want to use any more than that

I guess I wrongly assumed that if there is reasonable suspicion that someone commits a crime, they get arrested. I read the papers all the time. a chick got arrested for taking a piss in an alleyway behind a bar (who the f*** cares?) if I do 5 MPH over the speed limit, there's a chance I'm getting pulled over. just seems strange how I've always been told that touching someone in anyway can be deemed harassment or assault, yet no one was charged.

Seems strange to me that in the same sentence you'll point out how ludicrous it would be for someone to receive the hard arm of the law over something minor, and at the same time complain about how ludicrous it is for someone to not receive the hard arm of the law over something minor.

Little stuff like this gets taken at a case by case basis. It might be that they assessed there was no threat and this was just a minor domestic dispute best resolved by having a chat with all parties. I just suggest that next time something happens like this don't hesitate to call the police.

Like it's not cool that the guy shoved you but I'm not sure what else you want out of this

If a stranger shoved you in anger, what is your reaction?

Likely reactions:
- attempt to de-escalate the situation
- exit the scene, call the police
- brace myself for a fight if necessary

Seems like you did that but I'm not sure where you're going with this. The cops talked to him, he was clearly warned. Do you want him to go to jail over shoving you?

A fine at the very least.

I looked him up, he was arrested in 05 for pushing meth and looks like he had a warrant out for being arrested for an 8th DUI

Right but those are entirely separate cases

What you should do is make sure this entire thing has been documented (which sounds like you have) and if anything at all happens again you then have ammunition to go to the cops with. They will have reason to take this more seriously if there's ever a next time.

What do you expect to happen

The cops aren't going to arrest someone for attempted murder because he shoved someone once. They're going to need a little more than that.

if you deny evolution you're wrong

I think evolution is a pretty sound theory. But it's not without holes. We could be way off with evolution. Science has been wrong many times before. It's arrogant to believe we've got it all figured out now.

I don't subscribe to "if you're deny evolution you're wrong" but for most everything I take the bertrand russell approach:

There are matters about which those who have investigated them are agreed; the dates of eclipses may serve as an illustration. There are other matters about which experts are not agreed. Even when the experts all agree, they may well be mistaken. Einstein's view as to the magnitude of the deflection of light by gravitation would have been rejected by all experts not many years ago, yet it proved to be right. Nevertheless the opinion of experts, when it is unanimous, must be accepted by non-experts as more likely to be right than the opposite opinion. The scepticism that I advocate amounts only to this: (1) that when the experts are agreed, the opposite opinion cannot be held to be certain; (2) that when they are not agreed, no opinion can be regarded as certain by a non-expert; and (3) that when they all hold that no sufficient grounds for a positive opinion exist, the ordinary man would do well to suspend his judgment.

No, it's not convenient at all actually. It's very inconvenient. But whereas as science has gone down the line of "This is pretty much the only thing that makes sense, we just need the final piece to put it completely to rest", you've taken that to mean "ahah! So the intern made a minor mistake meaning that we marked a payment as paid but the transaction was actually declined. Not actually a big deal, just something to call back and sort out. Here's your receipts, sorry about the inconvenience. She's done hundreds of these in the past two weeks she's been here so one small error like this is not bad going.

This woman though, she wanted to keep me on the phone for half an hour to talk about how useless the intern is and how unforgivable it is that such a person could be put in charge of transactions and how the company is "a total shitshow" for allowing it. She continued down this track long after I fixed the problem and assured her we'd invest in more training.

Thanks for wasting everybody's time, unnecessarily angry lady. This shit is why I left retail.

What I love about salary is not having someone breath down my neck for not spending arbitrary time in a place doing nothing. Someone isn't going to dock my paycheck just because I took off half an hour early because my meeting got cancelled. Likewise someone isn't going to give me a hard time for being 30 minutes late in the morning when they know I put in the work.

This largely depends on management though.

I don't know if this is something you can strictly consider a hourly/salary thing, though. You can be in a salary position but if your role is justified on billable hours then you're probably doing timesheets.
