Fun is good, but I've got an excess of characters. The buff removal is a core perk. Otherwise I'd have to build Pela I guess.

Should I pull for Luocha or Acheron? This is the first redo banner I've particularly considered.

It's not that terrible, but it is sort of the bare minimum of charming bits and what can technically be considered gameplay content.

Having finished Infinite Wealth, the NG+ thing is pretty terrible just because there's one achievement that's deliberately unfeasible without it. And two jobs being carved out as launch DLC is also annoying. Great game though.

I've been watching this one since it's Team Ninja and in fact the same director as the Nioh games. I'm a little concerned because Wo Long was kind of weak and they've never really done open-world before.

Code Vein beating Nioh is a travesty.

Rance 6 and Quest (7) have a mechanic where characters return home after a certain number of battles in an area, so you have to rotate them. Sengoku Rance works similarly in dungeons. 9 also has SRPG-style battles where you deploy many units each time and sometimes need to distribute them into multiple groups. A game where it is kind of true is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The last two characters to join need to catch up in power, mostly exist after you have a full party of other characters available, and seemingly aren't that great anyway.

I don't know how they're expecting to drum up hype for this after the first was widely declared not even funny-bad.

Speaking of the water, the environmental textures dropping to barely textures during cutscenes is either a poor decision or a protest against having to develop this for PS5.

It seems like we're struggling to find a middle ground between "variety doesn't matter" and "variety is the only thing that matters" at the moment.

This game was definitely made with a "more is better" philosophy and some of the components are, well, garbage, but It's also not the worst. XVI's overworld sections are worse, and those stick like glue to one concept throughout.

Variety should come from the main gameplay.

If a game is built on excellent fine-turned core gameplay, I don't want to hear complaints that it's "repetitive". But that's a discussion entirely unrelated to this game.

The chicken one is a bit stupid but it has to be intentional in order to set up that punchline.
Also it's decent enough to not make the chickens reset instantly after a failure.

My friend keeps saying how he hates QB, which is just a failure of taste on his part.

The frog game was a headache in retrospect, but I wouldn't put it in the AVGN "What were they thinking?!" category like chocobo gliding. The controls make sense and there aren't any weird quirks to unravel. It's just execution and it's a bit annoying.

Really every element of it seems deliberately spiteful, right down to the controls.

Okay, the Glide de Chocobo minigame is heinous.

There is a hard version of Fort Condor, but apparently it's also affected by Dynamic Difficulty. Which seems like a black box other than theoretically being harder that Normal.
