It's been a huge week for Doug Jones, who was elected Alabama's new senator in a super tight race against the awfully disgusting Roy Moore. His win will ensure a ton of great things for his state, and hopefully the country. Oh, and unbeknownst to this writer, he has a super hot gay son as well. Brace yourself, fellas.

His name is Carson Jones. His job is being a (hot) zookeeper. He's adorable, beardy, and has a great smile to boot. He's also (according to his Instagram profile) a "southern gentlemen", sushi eater, gym junkie and adventurer. Sounds good to us!

Congrats on your dad being elected, Carson. And congrats also to you being so gosh darn cute.

Considering the party currently in power does everything it possibly can to deny facts and evidence at every conceivable moment, no, it doesn't teach us anything. Or rather, it teaches intelligent people a lot, but those aren't the ones who can actually do anything because they're the minority and stupidity always breeds stupidity, so it's an uphill battle to get the intelligent ones in charge.

So true.

That leaves the government with even less money to invest in infrastructure (our infrastructure is atrocious), schools, medical research, etc.

To say nothing of the fact that trickle down economics is a scam that is espoused by morons who feed it to gullible morons. There are tons and tons of studies (non-partisan ones) that show that trickle down economics does not work.

I really struggle with the mental image here as a British person.

In my head, this is a biscuit:

And this is gravy:
https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/food/ic/food_16x9_832/recipes/traditionalgravy_1283_16x9.jpg

So I have an involuntary thought of them being combined in my head. Like saying "Doritos covered in whipped cream", basically.

http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2017/12/13/roy-moore-spokesman-says-gay-sex-should-be-illegal-in-election-night-interview/
A spokesperson for failed Senate candidate Roy Moore said that gay sex should be illegal in an interview on election night.

Moore, a hardline Republican who has faced allegations of child molestation, was the Republican for the special election to the US Senate in Alabama.

Democrat Doug Jones defeated Moore in a surprise upset last night but not before the Moore campaign made one last parting shot at the LGBT community.

As the polls closed, Moores campaign rep went on CNN to confirm that the candidate thinks gay sex should be illegal.

CNNs Jake Tapper asked: Does he think that homosexual conduct should be illegal? Its a yes or no question.

Moore spokesman Ted Crockett responded: Probably.

Asked what the punishment should be, Crockett responded: Its just a sin, okay? Thats what it is.

Thats what my Bible tells me, the Old Testament and the New Testament. Thats what this is about. You people want to take the whole 3000 years of our history and yall just want to throw it out the window.

Why are these backwoods idiots so obsessed with what two consenting adults do with each other? It's really creepy. Thank goodness morons like Moore and his clan are becoming relics of the past.

being a reader himself.

http://www.newsweek.com/trump-andrew-jackson-book-doesnt-read-740800
Trump tweeted Thursday morning that people should "go get" Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade's recently released book Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans: The Battle That Shaped America's Destiny. He added that it was "really good," an endorsement that caused skepticism because Trump has repeatedly said he doesn't read.

"I never have. I'm always busy doing a lot," he added. "Now Im more busy, I guess, than ever before."

That same month, Tony Schwartz, who ghostwrote Trump's 1987 business memoir The Art of the Deal, said he never spotted a book in the billionaire's home or office during the year and a half he was shadowing him.

"I seriously doubt that Trump has ever read a book straight through in his adult life," Schwartz told The New Yorker.

Trump himself seemed to confirm this in an interview with Megyn Kelly. After he revealed his favorite book was All Quiet on the Western Front, Trump admitted he only read "passages," "areas" and "chapters" of books because he didn't have time.

why?

Because the opposite was true for so long.

But that was because of the stigma. With that heavily broken, there's nothing keeping gay men down. It's not like race where you inherit disadvantages from your parents, and their parent, and theirs ect. It's a level playing field.

Well said.

Acceptance of LGBTQ people in all spheres of society work, family, and community has grown at a remarkable pace in the United States. A recent Pew Research Foundation study reported that 92% of all LGBTQ adults felt that society is more accepting of them than a decade ago, and 87% of adults report personally knowing someone who is gay or lesbian (up from 61% in 1993). Same-sex couples throughout the country can now get legally married after the 2015 Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges. LGBTQ people are highly visible in the media, on television, in the movies, and in the C-suites of major companies like Apple, Google, and IBM. For LGBTQ people, it has certainly seemed as if, in the language of columnist Dan Savages 2010 campaign to combat the epidemic of LGBT youth suicide, It Gets Better.

In a recent paper, a PhD student and I analyzed data from a major federal survey in the United States that had not previously been used in this literature presumably because it only recently began to ask about sexual orientation and found that the gay male earnings penalty had disappeared. And not only had it disappeared, it had turned into a 10% premium, meaning that gay men in recent years earned substantially more than straight men with similar education, experience, and job profiles. We went back through the published literature to see if we were making new or strange measurement or specification choices. We were not. We double- and triple-checked the dataset for other patterns that would indicate some fundamental error or data problem. We found none. We subjected the gay male earnings premium to a host of extra tests to see if we could make the result go away. We could not.
