And too many enemies were annoying instead of fun. Like a lot of games from back then, once you get into a groove, you kinda forget how bad some of that stuff is. I like that they took a risk, and I'd probably really like the game if the enemies were more fun to fight. It's just not a well tuned game. | neonreaper 08/08/18 8:08:51 AM #53 | Sir Chris vs Ulti edit: I had been posting elsewhere on the site and then poked around the site boards when the SC2k3 was ending. It was a Cloud match, but I didn't come here via the link from the poll. I went to the "discover boards" (or whatever it was called) link and just looked through site boards and social interest boards. This board had some drama that was interesting. The main beef was Sir Chris vs Ulti, and then Ulti threw some alts at the problem, and then Smurf came in to call out the alts. Sir Chris told Smurf to stand down. It was a fun place to read because so many people were really well spoken and written. I didn't post much because everyone was so friggin young compared to me. I started being somewhat of a regular in 2005 because everyone had little gimmicks and it was easy to have these impressive writing projects alongside breezy silly conversations, as well as good conversations. I was a bit of a troll until 2006 but I think some of my posts lead to good discussions - the one that really stands out was my dumb "its OK to smoke if you are also drinking" topic that lead to hundreds of posts of people working through their feelings and experiences with smoking and drinking and other things. --- Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter? | neonreaper 08/07/18 8:35:10 AM #85 | Once again I want to echo Solio's posts. In my experience, if you're building muscle, it changes what you want to eat. If you're eating protein and building muscles, you're gonna build some good strength and feel good about that and become enthused about the nutrition behind building muscles. So I always like to suggest macros to start so you can understand your food better and understand the composition of your diet better. It doesn't take long to just quickly break down most foods you commonly eat into protein/fat/carb and then understand what you're looking to eat in a given day. Oh, I'm building muscle, I should eat this... I am cutting weight, I should eat this... oh, it's just maintenance mode, I should eat that... I guess I come from the point that you should to re-configure what you want to eat. I don't think that denying yourself foods that you crave (and have trained your body to crave) is a recipe for success. I think Atkins or systems like Weight Watchers are short term solutions that will often see people go back to old habits. It just seems like starving yourself (whether you realize it or not, or justify it as CICO) is only meant to give you quick results but ultimately return you to a place where you need to use that diet again. Sure, it could just be that you need to increase your willpower over the rest of your life and stick to a strict discipline, but, any plan with a sheer cliff dropoff penalty for a mistake is a bad one IMO. --- Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter? You don't have to go hardcore into it, but it's good to be able to breakdown the foods you are eating quickly into what types of calories you are getting. CICO is technically true but you can build in plenty of self-defeats if you don't care about the types of calories and nutrients you are eating. If you're pitting yourself against your cravings and then encouraging those cravings with your diet... it's a hard road. Good job on the exercise Scare. Maybe it doesn't feel like much (or it felt painful and difficult!) but it's infinitely better than doing no exercise. | neonreaper 07/26/18 8:33:02 AM #2 | I hate his noise and I might stop playing because of it. it's like a bad kid's toy over and over. He's a fun character and at least arcade modes weren't centered on Symmetra for a few days. Fired up QP for the first time in a while and went Widowmaker and just ripped off a 16-0 game just terrorizing the opponent and getting a trophy (I haven't had a legacy trophy in like 14 months) and I'm just so glad she isn't more powerful and her ultimate doesn't damage anything. There are some characters that centralize matches if the person/team knows how to play them. Widow would just ruin every game. A Tjorborn that has his turrets messed up a lot early in a game will likely switch out and never look back. But if his team is in synch and the opponents can't seem to deal with him, then he just piles up kills and the opponents fail quickly. Symmetra can be difficult, but it's a little bit better at the end of escort objectives because a lot is happening and her sentries get destroyed quickly and she only gets the 3 now. But she can still mess teams up early in games if they don't work to deal with her. I speak almost entirely from the perspective of someone that plays mostly arcade and usually no mic anymore. The biggest advantage is usually a pre-made team with a Mercy. Comms > no comms and it's not even close, and having a team with a pair (or more) that includes someone who wants to spend their day healing in arcade is gonna do p well. I do wish that one of the No Limits moves was "only these 1-2 characters". I feel like "all wrecking ball" matches end up with one team trying to have fun and the other team switches to a meta setup and it's just dumb. --- Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter?
