In the town I went to college, they gave away small fries if you landed a penny, a drink for a nickel, a sandwich for a dime, and a value meal for landing a quarter. the quarter was great because it's so heavy and I could line up the column such that the coin would be between it and the bubbles, so it had no where to go.

the ones in my current town seem like they are purposely busted so the column is at an angle so you can't do that anymore :(

AC/DC appearing on any list like this makes the list suck pretty much by itself, honestly. Sad thing is, there will undoubtedly be two of their albums when everything is all said and done.

I ask you, people: does anyone care about ANY of the songs on Back in Black other than "Hells Bells," "Back in Black," and "You Shook Me All Night Long?" The rest is just mediocre to bad filler! I'd even go so far as to say that the second half of "Back in Black" is terrible (when it's basically just Brian Johnson going "BA-HA-HA-HAAAAAAAAAAAACK! BA-HA-HA-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!")

Schneider was on the radio this morning. Interesting position, given that he grew up a Bruins fan, was a big star in town, and now plays for the Canucks. He backed up the Vancouver GM about the Bruins game being the emotional climax of the season for the team and that they were never able to get back to that level again. The Boston radio guys pointed out that it was similar for Boston until the last ~10 games of the season, that they didn't really get back up there emotionally after that game. (I think it took a Philly game to get them going again, and maybe Vancouver doesn't have anyone like that? )

Said he loves the way the Boston crowds are for the Boston/Vancouver games. Said one guy was yelling bad things at him but would also yell GO BC to him. Pretty much seemed to agree with Recchi's comments about how arrogant and floppish the Canucks were, but tried to pin it on a few unnamed guys instead of being a team-wide thing. Pointed out that you could cherry pick guys on most teams that are douches/floppers, and maybe not everyone on the Bruins is the greatest guy. Radio guys sarcastically say that no, not everyone is as lovable as Marchand.

Not much to say about Luongo and that situation. Basically that he's restricted one more year so he's doing whatever he's told, he's fine with it, and things any sort of situation with him and Luongo will work out fine.

Seemed pretty upset with Bettman about the NHL having record revenues but still wanting to make player cost cuts. Says the players took the beating in 2004 and everyone has benefitted, but thinks the league is probably poorly run if they cut player costs, leads to a situation with better ratings/revenue, and still not making money as a league.

I think the biggest problem with the series is that the narrative climax is basically the season 5 finale. They really struggled to come away from that episode with anything that could compete with that emotional punch. The priority should have been two-fold - answering most mysteries and building up a compelling reason to care about what happens to the people on the island. I think the flash-sideways was neat but also short-circuited any real reason to care about the island stuff.

And by failing to really tie the island's outcome to the characters in a meaningful way, they trivialize the island's fate. And doing so weakens the flash-epilogue stuff.

I just don't think they had a great plan for making the 6th season island stuff truly amazing, or stuff we'd care about on it's own. They kind plodded around with some new mysteries but it seemed like they had the flash-epilogue in mind the entire time as being the thing we'd remember and care about and love. whoops.

I did like the series. I tend to pretend that the people were rewarded for exhibiting the best parts of themselves in order to save the island, instead of being rewarded for being characters on a popular show. And that saving the island was a big deal worth caring about.

I really liked it, though yeah, it gets in its own way too often. I'd say dungeons 3-6 were amazing experiences, and somewhere after dungeon 2 through the cutscenes after 6... just perfect pacing and dungeon/world design.

I like the overall philosophy of the motion controls - keep the gamer active, keep the gameplay dynamic. There are a lot of problems with the details, though, big enough problems to keep the game down on their own. But I think the game is pretty weak until after the second dungeon, and the bits between the 6th and 7th dungeon are pretty awful, so there's enough of an issue outside of the motion controls that keeps it away from being a "best Zelda game" contender.

10 years, nah. It's a few years late, though - this really needed to come out around the time WSR/WM+ came out.

we're about two posts away from console wars

Microsoft has obviously made more money from XBL than PS+. PS+ is a more appealing service for XBL is a necessary one. PS+ probably gets more internet love but everyone and their mother has XBL.

I honestly don't know - what does PSN/PS+ do for things like ESPN or FIOS or etc. apps?

I'm curious how Sony will handle the PS4 era. They spent all that money on the Blu Ray hardware, couldn't justify a monthly fee online service as a result, and two years later were advertising the PS3 as a Netflix capable device. With the beating they've taken, they have to be looking to come back hard.
