Some people really enjoy working. My aunt is 70 and owns her own business. She is there every single day and gets home at 8pm every night. I have never seen someone work so hard. But she makes a lot of money and supports a lot of family.

Are the people she's supporting grateful?

Very much. One of the people she supports is my mother. Who worships the ground my aunt walks on lol. My aunt also gives to various charities as well.

Her husband has sadly been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer a few months ago (they have been married 45 years), and she still goes to work every day. She says that without it, she would collapse with grief.

Oh... Sorry to hear that, but wouldn't you think it'd be better if she spent the remaining time with him?

Unfortunately she doesnt have someone who can fill in for her.

What about all those people she's supporting?

Her field is the arts and no one else in the family has experience there. My aunt wouldnt trust any of them with her baby lol. But she still makes time for my uncle, goes to every appointment, takes care of him, plans family trips (local ones). Shes a freaking machine.

How's your uncle taking the illness? Is he at peace?

This. I've seen people forced into retirement, and I've seen people regret retirement. I hope I'm not like that. I'm not even 40 yet and retirement sounds like the greatest

I think it might have to do with restlessness, almost as though people are on the run from something or someone at that age. I wonder if those people thought they would feel this way when they were kids, when nothing mattered and everything was given?

Candy is bad too, and do we really know what's in the water we drink?

I think moderation in everything is the best option for me at this point. I've been so addicted and I was happy with it but then the trials came and I basically flopped. My go-to and main one was cigarettes, so I would wake up, smoke one, then my place and body would stink so I would shower and then have another one right after. It was almost like an excuse to do nothing all day, but I need to keep learning how to live. I like to have fun, but too much of it and it loses its meaning.

You can not quit all drugs, until you have done ALL the drugs.

Get to it man.

I took an injection of abilify about a week ago, and it's made it impossible to enjoy any feel good drugs. It also took away my ability to dream and rest properly at night. It'll wear off in a couple weeks, and I really can't be taking prescription meds anymore, that's the real problem.

It's funny how people always tell you to quit drugs but when it comes to prescribed drugs they say you'll be on it for the rest of your life for your own good.

We don't need alternatives to a perfectly functional system, particularly when they make life more complicated unnecessarily.

Dude, you're talking about the English language. If you were to take out all of the needlessly complicated inefficiencies, you wouldn't have enough of a language left to be usable. Getting uppity over one or two more is just silly.

minervo posted...
What do you mean? If they kept it to themselves it wouldn't be a problem but when you shout from the rooftops all day about your sexuality, it starts to get annoying.

So ignore it. The only reason anyone feels the need to proclaim a specific sexual identity is because defining it make it easier to defend against people who try to reject it as being somehow invalid. If the response is instead "okay," then there's no need to defend it anymore and people will no longer feel the need to make a big deal out of it. The only way to make it go away is with ambivalence, not opposition.

So the ignore it and move on approach. Makes sense, if people acted more like they do in real life on the internet, it'd be better but some of these oddities are actually terrible human beings.

If someone on the street acted like some of these people do on the internet, your options would be to fight of flight or call the cops. If you have no self-control and a temper, sometimes you deserve a good slap.

So youre quitting all drugs except for evenings and weekends

No, only uppers in the morning.

To be completely honest, it's starting to really mess with my ability to function and move forward. If I was rich I could live like this I guess, but the real problem with drugs is that you're hurting the people around you. I spoke to a veteran who was sick from cigarettes and he told me to get rid of it. I did it out of respect, but I have more at home. He told me to smoke weed instead, but for me when it comes to drugs it's really all or nothing. I spent time with my mom, and because I smoked she smoked too even though she's trying to quit.

Sometimes I wish everyone did drugs and we lived in a jungle

After today, of course. And by drugs I mean all the downers, not the uppers. I will only do downers in the evening. And the alcohol in the morning is really making me sick so I should probably reserve that for the weekends. But none of my friends drink anymore, so my mind is basically a twisted rubber band.
