I was 13 when TPM came out. I was drunk on all the connections and explanations and stuff not to mention being entertained by it. "We will watch your career with great interest." Star Wars was back.

Then I loved AOTC, for pretty much the same reasons. The Coruscant stuff was cool. From the time Mace Windu walks out into the arena until the end was totally exhilarating. Palpatine is loading up Star Destroyers. Holy shit it's getting real. Star Wars

ROTS what can I say. It was incredible then and has only gotten better. It was not just that it was the main event, but it was better focused, better acted, less juvenile, ect. Legendary shit. As good as Star Wars gets. I still like 1 and 2 even though they haven't totally held up, but ROTS is great

I take no joy in preferring TPM. But at least that is a movie that knows it's a look at something a newer. It's fresh jumping to a new time and place and is driven by the nature of being a prequel - the feeling that a storm is brewing.

What a disappointment. I always try to be positive about these movies and focus on the bright side but this one is really trying. This is a follow up to Empire!

Best part is Jabba's court. Just a wonderful display of imagination and technical wizardry. Jabba himself is maybe the most amazing creature in all of Star Wars. John Williams new score is worthy of the rest of the series - a no brainer.

Almost everything else is a dud. So boring. Even the throne room scene, to be honest. It's got iconography going for it. A legendary confrontation. But like everything else going on, it feels perfunctory and limp. Endor is a dead zone. Han Solo is a eunuch. The attack on Death Star 2 feels like one last ride, been there done that. That all this stuff is Star Wars - the Falcon, lightsabers, Boba Fett - helps it slide but it shouldn't come down to that.

Guys I honestly have a better time watching The Phantom Menace.

I rewatched the prequels a few days ago and kept thinking how I couldn't believe people hate them so much. They're over all well made and enjoyable. The quality level is inconsistent and generally not as good as the OT, but not worthy of 20 years of venom and bile. I don't get it at all

The dialogue of the prequel trilogy is closer to The Room than it is to the original and sequel trilogy if we're going to be real here.

Maybe if you cherry pick it out of some scenes. There's hours more that is right in line with the rest of Star Wars
