There's a what, 50 year gap? Everyone just forgot that Jedi ran shit and they became mythical? All the Clonetroopers died off? What happened to the droid army?

How did the Emperor make the Jedi become vilified?

Oh shit I forgot Luke and Leia were born at the end of the movie. The Empire took over the galaxy in less than 2 decades and the clones and droids just all died off?

As said, more like 19. But the idea is that the galaxy is so huge and there are billions and billions or even trillions of beings in it and there were only a couple of thousand Jedi.

The clones had accelerated ageing IIRC, so yeah, they'd have died off pretty quickly.

what are the jedi anyway? space police?
afaik, everyone around the universe just thinks of them as people who trick others to get what they want and usually fuck shit up without hesitation as long as it's for the cause of fighting "the dark side", which most people/aliens don't give a crap about.
so if there's a huge event that happens that literally wipes them all out of existence, and then no one's heard about them in two decades, yeah, people would forget and not give a crap.

Well, considering the Empire was more of a rebranding of the Republic (the standing governing body for like 25,000 years), it isn't surprising that the Empire "took over" so fast.

They weren't forgotten. It's just that our characters were mostly dealing with backwater areas of the galaxy. Even when they found Anakin, Watto thought of them as tricksters.

And when they fell, iirc, Palpatine broadcast the video of his arrest by Windu by manipulating it to seem like they were indeed taking over.

"Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?"

The only way for Luke to be noticeably short is if they're all tall or the same size. Them all being clones explains this. George Lucas was planning ahead.

Keep in mind for the Jedi thing, Luke was living in an isolated backwater with a family that had a vested interest in keeping him from knowing about the jedi, so him not knowing about them is more understandable.

Did you even watch Revenge of the Sith? Anakin killed the Separatist leaders and shut down the droid army. And the Emperor literally gave a speech to the entire senate about how the Jedi tried to assassinate him and seize power.

To be fair, the Empire probably put out a lot of anti Jedi propaganda or could have downright made it illegal to talk about them.

It wasn't as if the Jedi were unknown though. Luke knew of them, and he spent his life on a backwater. Han knew of them but simply didn't put much belief in their beliefs, which is perfectly normal for someone who was alive when the Jedi were basically wiped out by a bunch of soldiers. Same for the dude who Vader choked.

Yeah this is one of the areas that Revenge of the Sith explains well.

also, the Jedi were the number one enemy. Palpatine explained that in the senate, so all Jedi were all to be captured.

and its an Empire. They control the narrative. They tell everyone the Jedi dont exist anymore, the Empire had resources to do that. It was a fascist system. Plus there were only like 10,000 Jedi in the galaxy before the purge. Thats not a huge amount.

I think this is one area where it all makes sense.

Clones have accelerated aging and the gap between PT and ST is 40 years. By the time of the Battle of Endor I can only think of one clone still around that didn't get killed by battle or old age.

Kamino was not in the SW galaxy. They were a little south of a satellite galaxy and I don't think Republic or Jedi rule extended that far.

I always laughed in AotC when the Kaminoans said they had an army of a million clones being produced. What exactly are you going to do with a million troops across an entire galaxy?

See, here's the thing: the Republic committed 200,000 clones to the battle on Geonosis. In that previously mentioned conversation on Kamino, this was indicated as the entirety of the clones that had been produced so far. 200,000 clones for one planet, only a few million more to round out the whole army, and there's an entire rest of the galaxy to fight in. You see the problem, I'm sure.

I think they just wanted to go with a reasonably realistic and understandable number for general audiences. (Considering the largest militaries in our world number around 1-1.5 million)

Also think about it, a lot of Star Wars planets are maintained and controlled without a strong military presence. A lot of residents are just looking to live their lives. Not too many standing militaries. The biggest threat was the CIS Droid Army. A bred and trained clone is worth 10 or more smugglers, bandits, and pirates in a fight. So you didn't really need a massive force in the tens or hundreds of millions. Not to mention the logistical nightmare of tending to that force.

Plus, the general goal of the forces was objective taking. It wasn't necessarily overwhelming occupation. assume control of key points across the galaxy and facilitate from there. The Empire took a similar approach but was more aggressive in suppressing the local populaces
