I'm watching a This Is How You Don't Play of Ocarina of Time from a couple years back, and it's just painful. It's like watching your middle aged uncle, who has very limited experience with video games, sit down and play it for the very first time. This despite the fast that he has already played multiple Zelda games before, including this and Majora's Mask.

But honestly, I think that would be a better direction for him to go in. He's really well spoken, I don't know why he doesn't sit and talk into his mic more often and put those up on YouTube. Why can't he review the WWE every week and make money on that? Seems logical since he's good at talking, but shitty at video games

I think part of it is ego. He sees himself as one of the original let's players and he claims to love video games (even though it's pretty clear he doesn't anymore). I don't think he'd ever give up video games because they are what made his career.

But I also don't know if it would be sustainable (not that the way he is currently doing things is sustainable). Some of his fans do seem to enjoy when he does an occasional stream where he's not playing video games. But a lot of them don't like it. He gets constant complaints that his pre-stream is too long--people want him to get to the gameplay. And given that he rarely leaves his house and seems to know little about the world going on around him (he constantly doesn't understand references that people make in his streams), I think he'd run out of things to talk about before too long.

Also, I think he's partnered with some company on Twitch, and they presumably wanted him for his gameplay streams, so they might dump him if he stopped.

I can't really say I'm surprised by how poorly he treats his fans, but it's still hard to believe that they continue to support him even though he shits all over them.

I saw that he reached 500 subscribers on Twitch yesterday, but apparently over 80 of his new subs this month were gifted. There are maybe 4 or 5 of his most loyal fans who spend money to give other people subs just so he can reach his sub goals. That's the dumbest way to "grow" a channel I've ever seen.

Those sub goals are always hilarious. Most of the new subs were gifted ones, meaning that they are almost certain to not resubscribe. So by next month they'll all expire and he'll be complaining that subs are way down. I think around the time of his last crisis and resulting begging video, his subs got up to 560 or something. And by the next month they were down to around 400. And yet he will continue to tell you that his channel is growing.

I've never even tried. His chat is very toxic. People spam racist stuff on occasion, some of the mods are only mods because they've given him a ton of money, you can get banned for posting anything that is even mildly critical, and newcomers tend to be viewed with suspicion--unless you're giving him money or have been around a long time, you're probably a troll. I haven't seen it. From what I've seen of her, she seems very uncomfortable and awkward on camera. Maybe that's due to being around DSP, maybe it's something else. From what I've heard, it sounds like she probably came from a bad situation prior to meeting DSP, so maybe moving in with him was a way to get away from that.

I had never seen a live stream until a few months ago, just the detractor videos. But I had seen in a few videos where he would say all the negative talk surrounding him was lies and his streams were very fun and positive, so I decided to have a look. In reality, he's just as terrible as everyone says. The videos people make about him highlight the entertaining stuff, but the rest of his content is still consistently awful, full of begging and him treating even his regular viewers like shit. When he's not begging or raging, he's bored with the games he's playing, and he really only interacts with the people in his stream that give him money (or the trolls who can routinely bait him). He's such a despicable human being that it's truly fascinating, so I sometimes have his streams on in the background when I'm doing something else.

I had his stream on (or a rebroadcast of his stream--I don't like to give him the views) in the background when he was saying some of that. He legitimately thinks people should pay to watch his videos. I'm not in a financial situation right now where I could give money to any streamer, but if I did have money to throw around, I'd like to think I'd give it to people who put real effort into their work and aren't total dicks to everyone around them.

People have suggested that he simply start moving his videos from the demonetized channel over to the one he's currently using. And I think everyone realizes that with 40,000 plus videos, this would be a lengthy process, something he wouldn't do all at once. But even if he just moved a handful of videos over each day, it would help bring in more money. But, nope, he's too lazy to do that.

The only "editing" he does is chop up his streams into like 15-20 minute segments to upload hundreds of videos a day.

He's started doing longer videos since his main channel was demonetized. It's funny to watch him talk about how the longer videos are doing well when people have been telling him forever to stop spamming subscribers' inboxes with dozens of short videos each day.

It's perplexing, especially when he's replaying games and seems to remember nothing about playing them the first time. Just today, he was fighting a boss in Silent Hill 2 and his stream chat had to tell him that when the boss grabs you, you can get away faster if you mash the buttons. Not only has he played this before, but mashing to get out of a grab is a pretty basic video game skill.

At no point do I get the sense that he is upset because what he has a genuine passion for is threatened. Everything he says is about the money.

I thought his own account was permanently banned from getting advertisement revenue years ago due to break of terms (ebegging)

I think he had an account banned for encouraging his fans to click on ads, something he denies (even though there is video evidence of it). He apparently made another adsense account that isn't valid or something, but it's hard how much of his story is true.
