But I did the calculations: in the best case, I win a $25 gift card, pay ~$8 in state and local taxes (CA), $10 for notary fees (many charge $15 now = max allowed by state law), and ~$3 in bus fares or gas to reach the notary, leaving about $4 in net profit. (It usually takes a while for the admins to certify the final results and notify winners.) | iGenesis 12/09/18 6:24:48 PM #1 | I think the only toss-up match left at this point is who wins 146, i.e. can Samus flip her 3 point deficit in the rematch. I think it's quite possible even though it's a larger deficit than MM vs Pika, the only rematch to flip so far. 145 Cloud will definitely beat Crono again (previous margin was 13%) & in the very unlikely event MM wins 143 he should lose to Cloud by similar margins. I think whoever wins 146 will win 148 & 149 as well: - 148 because there's no way the Nintendo diehards on this site will let a non-Nintendo character advance to the finals. If it's Mario, he's had a history of beating Cloud. - 149 because assuming Zelda loses to Link, unless it's really close, I doubt voters would want to send her straight back to Link for the same result. 147 & 150 I don't see Link losing to any other character. 147 might be close but Link is the character who always saves the princess. Thus 143-Crono 145-Cloud 144,6,8,9-Samus 147,50-Link Anyone expect something different? @NewerShadow, who are the top 10 B8 users (along with their final scores) with the above outcome? I'm not suggesting SpikeDragon or anyone in the top 9 orchestrated it, but they certainly benefited big time. From what I can remember through 15 years of contests, not a single result has ever been overturned no matter the circumstances, though in the past CJayC or Allen would at least write posts saying they "examined the results" of controversial matches. (And there were far more suspicious circumstances in the past, like sudden 1000+ vote swings during the final minute.) Clearly, the administration has made a calculated decision that whatever cheating occurs isn't worth the potential uproar from overturning a result. It's been over a decade since I last won a prize, but in that event, the admins do indeed reach out to you, ask you questions, collect your paperwork, etc. If the procedure is still similar (though I imagine this type of work could possibly be delegated to more junior CBS corporate lackeys now) and we're fortunate enough to get there, that would be an opportunity to air our grievances. I think both of us ought to express our concerns to the administration if we're fortunate enough to survive till the end. Of course, it's too late to rerun anything at this point, but it should not happen again in future contests. Several posters publicly bragged about vote stuffing for Tifa with multiple accounts and proxies, which is explicitly against the rules. Their posts were not moderated, and there's no sign the admins ever audited the final poll results.
