Low seven figures seems absurdly cheap for a hot IPIts so simple that anyone halfway through a Computer Programming 101 class can make his own clone. The whole site, including obfuscation, is reportedly less than 600 lines of code. The original Wordle site doesnt have any useful consumer data (the way Amazon/Google have all your personal info & know all about your shopping habits) except a list of IP addresses and list of puzzles completed. The concept of the game is probably too simple to copyright. Its basically hangman plus disclosure of incorrectly placed letters. If NYT paywalls this, hundreds of free clones would pop up overnight. How on earth is this worth millions? --- 2012 U_U 2017 X_X |
