Knew a guy who knew a guy at the neighboring school that had an opening for head custodian. The pay scaled quicker and I make 60k now vs the 45k (before supplies) as a teacher.

I always got high evals and my principal wants me back. I couldn't afford not to quit teaching.

I now make way more as a school janitor in the same district I was teaching.

I just thought of this, how did Diane Feinstein get reelected the last two or three times? I understand that if it's her vs. some Republican she would win, but surely there are enough political activists in California to not make this Senate seat a lifetime position for her.

There have been great, young, progressive candidates of color that have primaried her the last 2-3 times.

The one that picked up the most steam supported single payer universal healthcare. So Obama and Pelosi stepped in to throw their support behind Feinstein while knowing about her decline because they would rather have a senile person than a progressive. Sounds like a familiar pattern come to think of it.

No bro. Lemme give you an example. I live in Houston, TX. We get hurricanes. 2008, hurricane Ike, power was out two weeks or longer throughout the whole city and metropolitan area.

That's just one. You can be surprised how long power can be out. Doesn't have to be the apocalypse, but, the next best thing to one, flood and wind damage, destruction. Electricity gone and water plants on boiled water notice.

Man sorry to hear you've dealt with city wide natural disasters. EVs can be used to power your home while they still have juice. If the roads are driveable I'd charge outside the city or be stuck like everyone else. Maybe wise to invest in doomsday solar panels.

I've never exp a power outage of longer than a couple hours. My car is never at 0 so in an emergency I could top up for 10 min at a super charger like anyone would at a gas station.

Interesting. My MIL has a leaf and she's got this heavy duty charger hooked up to the wall. Def looks like it sucks up more juice than a typical outlet.

That's the boujee set up for those who want fast charging. The standard outlets you see everywhere will charge the car just fine if you do it overnight.

Even if I wanted to charge it at my home I would need the charger (extra cost) and I don't even know if my electric system in the garage can handle the load needed or if I would need to upgrade it (extra cost).

I plug my car it into the same outlet I plug my phone into >_> never bought a charger.

My apartments have free charging but when those spots are taken up I run an extension cord from my room to where I park and no one has said a thing...

What's primary or secondary isn't even a statement on which is worse to deal with. Secondary effects are often worse than the primary. Though I think using these terms to dick measure between these 2 groups is psychotic in the first place.

It just takes a lot of mental gymnastics to say the poor that are oppressed into fighting wars of their lords and get severely maimed, tortured, and killed are not to be mentioned as a primary victim of war.
