Will iOS 11's file management system solve these problems? Like my downloaded mp3's from safari won't disappear into the abyss? Perhaps the phone will be able to recognize them?

Appreciate the cloud solutions mentioned, but sometimes I work deep in a forest where there's no wifi and spotty reception. I'll especially look into spotify premium. I'd like to have just been able to play the mp3s that were already on my phone. How does Apple think this is too much to ask? I think this would even confuse the noobs. I certainly feel like an old person with this phone. As a tech enthusiast, iPhones just might be too complicated for me.

This isn't true. You need iTunes(which is free) and a computer, but you can rip CDs or put mp3s into your iTunes library and sync it over onto your iPhone.

Why should I have to do that? I have the mp3s on my phone. I have several mp3 playing apps installed. I don't have access to a computer. On android, if you have an mp3 file and an app that can play mp3 files... that's all you need to play the file.

iPhones aren't stand alone devices? They need a laptop/desktop for the most basic functions? Doesn't sound like a mobile device.

This is so disappointing. Not lashing out at you, just Apple lol

Learn how to use reachability. Lightly double tap on the home button will bring the entire screen downward so you can hit the back button.

To play MP3's, download iTunes and drag and drop your MP3s into device. It will appear in the music library.

Reachability is on android too. I tried it and I kinda prefer the awkward reach for it instead of shrinking my entire screen every single time I want to press a button. Starts to defeat the purpose of having a big screen. Also, no access to a laptop for itunes management.

I really want to make the switch. I'm tired of apps/features of apps coming to iphones first and waiting on them in android. I'm a big snapchat user and it works better on ios. I want iMessage/facetime. I think Google's also getting too big for their britches with the constant selling of our info.

But Apple just drops the ball so hard when it comes to the core essentials of using a phone. Like really? I can't listen to an artist because he didn't put his music for sale on your store? I can only play the few select songs the corporations want me to listen to? I never knew Apple was anti-artist/creation.

Own ipad pro 10.5
Apple is the largest holding in my stock portfolio. It's in my best interest for them to succeed.

Situation:
My phone got washed away at the beach. Able to use my bro's old iphone 6+ til I buy an iphone x

So iOS has a ton of annoyances that I was already aware of. Tedious amount to steps to do basic things, poor software optimization for their hardware like:
all these apps make me constantly reach back arrows in the top edge of the screen because it thinks I'm still using a tiny phone even though it's the plus model
Emojis are extremely low res, as are most things, because the regular iphone still isn't even HD.
Whatever, I can deal.

Until now.

I'm out working and want to listen to music. I don't have any on this phone, so I download my fave stuff from free artists in safari in mp3 format. I have the files on my phone.

I can't listen to them. No music apps will recognize them because it isn't some Taylor Swift album I bought through iTunes. That's a deal breaker. I ain't gonna carry around an mp3 player with my iphone x in case I want to play music. Unbelievable.
