The fuck does this even mean? Why do republicans always act like democrats had a choice?

What Trump did was so outrageously corrupt that if democrats ignored it they wouldn't be able to justify themselves to voters.

Many legislators are trained as attorneys, if not, they have attorneys to advise them. They all knew from the beginning that the "impeachment hearings" were just a publicity stunt, with no credible evidence, just hearsay and innuendo. But they went ahead anyway, just for the stupidity of the thing, hoping the voters were ignorant enough to believe that they were doing something other than making fools of themselves. And the souvenir pen signing ceremony was worthy of an "I Love Lucy" skit.

I guess if they were trying to match the Republicans' silliness about Obama's birth certificate, they succeeded and more.

If the Dems had the slightest thing to offer beyond their clown act, maybe, but I've been offended by the liberal media insulting the office of POTUS since Trump was elected. Trump may go into history as this century's Harry Truman. Give 'em hell, Trumpy.

Let's ask, then.

Hey dancer, which specific Mark Twain quote were you referencing? If it wasn't the one about arguing with idiots (although that quote might be falsely attributed to him now that I check), then I apologize for my previous comment.

Something about, "A person convinced against their will remains an unbeliever still". And I thought it was Twain, but it has been attributed to a bunch of people from Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, Benjamin Franklin, Sir Walter Raleigh, to Dale Carnegie. Sounds like a Twain one-liner, though.

the issue is that there's a severe lack of actual reliable testing devices still.

and the ones that are supposed to be reliable, still aren't. there's tons of false negatives. you could ask several countries all about that, too, if you wanted.
So the 30% of people randomly tested in low exposure/low risk communities who have antibodies regardless of social isolation, are false positives?

Media hype. Hospitals geared up for the influx that didn't happen, on the other hand, places ripe for Legionnaires Disease, cruise ships and nursing homes, got coronavirus instead. SARS-2, worse than the original 2003 SARS epidemic, not as bad as ordinary seasonal flu. So now they're padding "Coronavirus" statistics with people who test negative and calling it "coronavirus-related". It's enough to make you swear off the fantasyland the media calls "news".

Doesnt really work that way
They've been working on the seasonal flu vaccine for 45 years, and the best claims for it are, when you do get the flu, it might be less severe and you might be able to return to work up to a half-day earlier. It's certainly ineffective in preventing 28,000-62,000 flu deaths per year in the US.

There was never a magic "vaccine" for the SARS coronavirus, it mutated and became less virulent, and people became immune, with no cases since 2004. I'm expecting SARS-2 to behave the same way, is there any real reason to think differently?

What in the world would a vaccine do? The flu vaccine is useless, doesn't prevent seasonal flu, the best research indicates that maybe it makes it less severe so you can go back to work up to a half-day earlier, it certainly doesn't prevent 28,000-62,000 United States seasonal flu deaths per year.

"Vaccine" didn't affect the 2003-2004 SARS epidemic, the virus mutated and became less virulent, and more people became immune through exposure.

Please explain just how the SARS-2 variant of coronavirus is different.

What a dull fellow! But he is dumb enough to say stupid things on social media, apparently thinking he's still a reality show personality and not realizing that whatever he posts is an official statement by the POTUS. I wish he had a Press Secretary to tell him to keep his mouth shut. ; )

You realize this is a relatively new thing and we don't know everything about it, this hasn't been studied like the common cold for over 100 years dude. Covid-19 was first discovered just last year, scientists are trying to understand it more but we don't know everything yet. You act like the news agencies are going out of their way to lie about this, let me guess your a Trump fanboy.

Not to mention really analyzing any virus takes a lot of time even if you have the best god damn scientists in the world working on it using the most advanced scientific equipment money can buy.

Neither a "boy" nor a "fan". My point is, the current generation of "journalists" doesn't have the intelligence or training to check the credibility of a source, much less evaluate the simple logic of a pronouncement. Yes, we have real scientists, and we have your "god damned scientists". Guess which make more exciting "news"?

The statistics have never justified panic. Worse than the death rate of seasonal flu, maybe. Worse than the death rate of traffic accidents, even in downtown Wuhan, no.

Surgical masks are better than painter's masks because they're both paper? And surgical masks are more "medical"? Wait, suddenly painter's masks fit better over the nose and chin, and can be bought in hardware stores. Bandanas don't seal at all, but are symbolic and look cool. Huh. Rocket science.

Ultraviolet radiation kills germs and viruses. But, sunlight is outdoors and people should stay home. Oops, suddenly sunlight does kill the virus. How about that? More rocket science.

Hey, the CDC is suddenly important, for more than pushing adult flu shots, wow, lets have daily statistics based on faulty information! Guess what? Suddenly, regardless of social distancing, the SARS-2 virus has spread much farther and is much less dangerous than anyone guessed! Even more rocket science.

The same media that, whatever Trump's actual merits, has been ridiculing the office of POTUS since his election mostly because he's not a real estate scammer from Arkansas. No, I didn't vote for him, nor much care for him.

Yes, I stay at home. I only go out for essentials, usually during Senior Hours. I care for an elderly blind neighbor with multiple medical issues, and try to protect her as much as possible. I mask. I wash my hands. I distance. I don't uncritically believe everything I hear. I think I'm going to do essential lawn care, in the sunshine, and believe the actual research over the "god damned scientists". And get Chinese take-out.

Just some people. Was at the grocery store at 6am for Senior Hour, to shop for myself and an elderly neighbor, pretty much all seniors there, mostly wearing masks. Was checking out (cashier now surrounded by plexiglas shields), and crowded by two women, masks dangling from their hands, shoving to load the checkout counter behind me, can't wait for me to finish, can't maintain social (or even ordinary polite) distance, obviously not seniors, obviously more than 1 person per cart.

To be fair, the media has been lying like cheap rag rugs. A month ago, painter's dust masks were no good, had to have surgical masks, now, dust masks are better. Two weeks ago, sunlight doesn't have enough UV to kill the virus, now, 3 minutes of sunlight kills the virus. Previously, social distancing was working to slow the spread of the virus, now, random testing of blood of people in low risk/low exposure communities, 30% already have coronavirus antibodies. Then, we have the aircraft carrier Roosevelt, 4800 crew working in close proximity, only 600 test positive, most are asymptomatic, and only 8 hospitalized.

Is there any truth to what we are being told, or is it all meaningless babble and panicmongering? Is the coronavirus actually that much worse than ordinary seasonal flu? Does social distancing slow the spread of the virus, or just delay people developing immunity?

And that's pretty much how it is here, sparse traffic, most people in stores wearing masks and distancing. I've been out maybe three times a week, grocery shopping for me and an elderly neighbor, taking the same neighbor to doctor's appointments (screened at the clinic each time), picking up prescriptions for neighbor, hardware store for grass seed (maybe not a true necessity but all the current rules say lawn care is an essential), auto parts for brake fluid for neighbor's granddaughter's car, tire store for flat tire for my own car.
