That's cute if you think that well be in lockdown for any longer than the end of next month.

Well except maybe for California where Im sure theyd rather we stay indoors forever just so they can control our every move, but thatll just lead to tons of very expensive lawsuits.

Depends on the rate of spread.

If the rate of spread and mutation rates are high enough... then may as well end quarantine because it's now just a new normal part of life the same way as the common cold and influenza and salmonella and e.coli are.

However, if we continue to hit hard against it... we can keep it contained.

...

Or in other words: Assume the disease has a 1% mortality rate and infects the entire planet of 8 billion people (not to scale), that would be 80 million dead. Now imagine any other thing doing the same... such as a war or a famine or an asteroid collision. Those are ONE-AND-DONE. Same would be true if this was a chemical agent or an idle bacteria/fungal attack.

However, it's a virus... uncontained it's not just 1% once for every person on the planet... it's 1% for the rest of humanity.

...

That's why we need that vaccine.

I agree this thing is here for decades to come sadly. This could be a game changer on the world stage as well because now some countries are beginning to see America as being weak because of the way this virus thing was and is being handled.

no. that still spreads the virus and the at risk people are still at risk and those don't want to catch the virus are forced to stay in a prolonged amount of time.

If this puts a stop to all the immigration then I'd say tht's a win. The US isn't weak, we just can't keep up with the increasing numbers. China or India try to ignore it.

And not working mean people loss their houses, vehicles, utilities, and everything else. Eventually, they won't even be able to buy food anymore. And they will still die. At least if some people can go back to work, people won't die from just sitting at home in the dark and starving. Like Krazy_Kirby said, have the people who want to work go to work. Well the world didnt end back in 2018 and I find it highly highly HIGHLY unlikely that climate scientists just went oops I was wrong and NOW were all going to die in 2032 instead.

Dont get me wrong as the planet will eventually get hotter but not because of humans anytime soon. The sun will eventually expand over several billion years and as it does the temperature of the Earth will rise. That likely accounts partially for the increase in temperature over the last several million years but any temperature changes over a couple of decades are a blimp on the radar on terms of scale. The temperature rises then falls repeatedly. Eventually it gets hotter overall.

Yes. But will those really cover everything people need. Probably not. Especially since after this has slowed down, people may need to return the life they had. But maybe the extra services weren't enough to keep their car. Or they had to move far away because the extra money couldn't pay for the house they lived in. That money can only do so much.

Sure. The virus does have a small death rate. And that sucks. But you know what else cause death? Starving. And without enough money, people can't feed their families. And I don't know about where you live. But where I live, food cost money. Which people won't have enough of if they aren't working.

Also, we don't know how long they'll be able to afford to keep paying almost everybody extra money for staying at home. And we don't know if they'll be able to keep saying no evictions forever. Especially for people renting houses...

And I do need ellipses... And you used them wrong...

What in the world would a vaccine do? The flu vaccine is useless, doesn't prevent seasonal flu, the best research indicates that maybe it makes it less severe so you can go back to work up to a half-day earlier, it certainly doesn't prevent 28,000-62,000 United States seasonal flu deaths per year.

"Vaccine" didn't affect the 2003-2004 SARS epidemic, the virus mutated and became less virulent, and more people became immune through exposure.

Please explain just how the SARS-2 variant of coronavirus is different.

Pretending a pandemic isn't happening isn't going to make it stop. Don't downplay the virus. It's disrespectful to those that have died from it already. But I guess you don't care since you're fine with more people dying from it.

You don't need ellipsis unless you really want people to know you make awkward pauses when you speak.

The consensus is around 1 degree Celsius over a hundred years, which will not fry us, but melt glaciers raise sea levels make deserts uninhabitable and disrupt the entire ecosystem including farming and access to fresh water.

It doesn't matter if "liberals" are misconstruing anything because science doesn't care about politics and liberals don't own the atmosphere.

The only people saying otherwise are conspiracy theorists on their own initiative or people who were paid off by oil companies.

EXACTLY! You just made my point.

The temperature of the Earth rises and falls many times over millions of years and what happens in 10 years is completely inconsequential to that. Saying its a defining characteristic that must be caused by man is egotistical beyond reason. Its kind of like sneezing one time from dust and saying that it is a defining moment in your 80+ year life.
