I only have two more quests to finish. Desert Treasure 2 and Secrets of the North.

Lately Ive been on a slayer/firemaking/runecrafting grind. Ive also been enjoying Varlamore content. Varlamore thieving is top tier.

Desert Treasure 2 is far and away my favorite quest in the game, its SO cool

No experience with Higurashi, but Umineko was a stellar read. Even the parts generally regarded as drags, I was enthralled with.

Yeah, outside of dedicated event days people rarely host or maybe a Discord group I'm not aware of, Castle Wars isn't much fun anymore. Most of PvP is pretty solved at this point, so most things involving it are either you getting rocked by someone with hundreds of millions of GP worth of gear, griefers or using boosting services for the rewards

Not sure if they're still around, but the dedicated Castle Wars world had a griefer that would do everything in their power to tank their team for quite literally years on end.

A lot of my family lives in NJ, so when they visit us in a different state, it's the first thing they complain about

OSRS has two new large landmasses as well as better skilling/combat hubs. The low population limit for worlds in conjunction means some places look a lot more dead than the mid 2000s where it was a glorified chatroom.

Matra Magic was actually the one ability that I wanted to name in my OP and I forgot.

it made it so easy to grind early on, and I managed to get Aeris's 3rd limit break for the first time ever >_>

I missed the first enemy skill materia when I first played and didnt get to experience the joy of shattering the next couple areas with Matra Magic. Falls off pretty quick, but it's such a godsend at the moment

Edit: Also was always enamored with Pandora's Box, the one that can only be used by a Dragon Zombie once per save file. Except beating the first of the final bosses re-activates its usage flag, but obvs by then, you can't fight any more Dragon Zombies. Silly game~

Seconding Akane-banashi, absolutely my favorite of the modern SJ era.

Other recs I have specifically for the SJ app are Mission: Yozakura Family, Blue Box and Witch Watch.

Dandadan and You and I are Polar Opposites on MangaPlus are also stellar, plus you can read an entire series for free on that app. Downside being rereading chapters requires a premium sub.

Alola suffers from not having a definitive edition.

USUM is a significantly better gameplay experience, but drops the ball HARD on the plot.

SM has a much more coherent story, but is probably the worst set of "first-in-the-generation" games in the series gameplay-wise.

I've got 5TB going across three drives and its been serving me well.

One's just for video editing, leaving 3TB for gaming/etc and I haven't ran into an issue since I tend to uninstall big games after I finish them.

It was the first Zelda I played, having been on Sony systems up until the Wii launched, and made me an instant fan. Played nearly the entire series up to that point in the following year and soured a bit on TP, but I can safely say it's my favorite of the 3D games now.

It'll also come to PC a year or two later at least~

The definitive DQ game on GBC is Dragon Warrior Monsters.

I played DWM at a friend's house, and the first ever online purchase I made was a copy of it.
Or so I thought, because I didn't realize Dragon Warrior was a series and I instead bought 1+2.

To answer the question, I'd say it's the definitive version of 1, but as one of the few fans of 2 in the world, I have a real soft spot for the NES version. The GBC version makes the final boss an actual challenge, buffing its HP and damage output along with my favorite version of its theme though.

Point being, yes, play this~

Maxima's like a Final Mix edition, adds some more monsters, a postgame story iirc, and some other things

It's a fun lil jaunt, I've been having a good time with it. Some of the FF cameos are real deep cuts and they're a delight.

Battle system is fun, though catching some monsters can be a bit of a drag when you're doing everything right and RNG is still screwing you.

Goes for a pretty low price often, cant go wrong imo

I'd say it's a lot more skippable than BW2's, but that's really the case for most first entries of a generation.

Oh, if you want to bring Tornadus, Thundurus or Landorus into BW2, you do need to catch them in BW1 unless you bought that Dream Radar game to catch them in

I just did BW1's postgame for the first time ever on Monday!

There's not a whole lot to it, especially with wifi gone. If you wanna complete the national dex, a bunch of older gen pokemon are in eastern Unova.

A couple new legendaries to catch, higher leveled E4 with an actual Alder battle, new superboss, finding the remaining six sages for Looker and diving into an ancient castle underwater for Arceus' plates and some treasures.

Can all be done in a few hours, but the levels for trainers jump to the mid 60s immediately so you might need to grind.

Pokemon Gold was my entry, but I'd say Dragon Warrior Monsters was when I realized I liked the genre beyond just Pokemon

I need to get back to my run of the series. Someone was talking up 5 recently and it made me curious to go beyond the PS1 entries

Similar issue in SMT4, with it almost being a coinflip since getting Walter as an AI partner means you're nearly always on the back foot.

Snagging Episode III for $40 in 2017 was probably my greatest haul ever

The characters were just so off putting minus Natalia. I got to thd 3rd act and realized I really don't care about the story and characters. Anise, her whole character and arc was horrendous.

I know my experience isn't what most people felt when playing TotA.

Hard agree on Anise, genuinely one of the worst characters I've had the displeasure of experiencing.

Decently lengthy, especially if you want to go for everything. Story alone should run you maybe 40-50?

It was the first Tales game I played and every other game since has disappointed me, kinda ruined the series for me.

Hearts R was the one I got furthest into besides that though
