That he killed himself is evidence of pre-existing mental illness, not that the punishment here was unreasonably traumatic.

Hypospadia is a birth defect (where the urethra opens somewhere further down the shaft of the penis, rather than at the head, for the medically disinclined in the audience), not something you develop. It's also not unique to uncircumcised people (except in the sense that we're all born uncut), though it is sometimes treated by circumcision. You should probably actually try to understand what you're talking about, rather than just googling health problems that are more common in uncircumcised guys and pasting the names in here.

Furthermore, being uncircumcised is not a guarantee of developing any of those, much like having teeth doesn't guarantee that you'll develop oral health problems. The logic you're employing here is literally the same as saying that it's a good idea to surgically remove people's teeth at birth so they never get cavities and are less likely to develop gingivitis. Sure, it's an effective prevention tactic, but it's also stupid.

Lemme tell you something; there is very little legal standing for this "case". You have a datacap? Not Betheda's problem. You encountering glitches in a game that they openly stated would have issues? Buyer's remorse isn't a valid reason. Any other shallow arguement? Not Bethesda's problem.

If you can't stand this "injustice"? Sell your electronics and your house, buy a cabin in the woods, and crawl into your safe space and sob to yourself.

In all honesty, the lawsuit probably won't succeed, you're right. A very important distinction needs to made here between "Bethesda will lose this lawsuit" and "Bethesda deserves to lose this lawsuit and/or face major backlash for this." The former ignores that US law tends to be very pro-corporation and Bethesda has done everything they can to avoid having to take legal responsibility for the quality of their product, which is just unrealistic. The latter is a statement based on the fact that Bethesda sold a rushed, barely-playable game and tried to fix it with a patch so large that many players won't be able to download it for another month (if ever), and are refusing to issue refunds to people who have a problem with that. That's not only realistic, but arguably the only reasonable response.

People are quick to dismiss these complaints as "you should have known better than to buy a Bethesda game at launch," but that attitude completely absolves Bethesda of any accountability for making the unplayable game in the first place. The unplayable state of Fallout 76 is entirely Bethesda's fault, and holding them accountable for that is not only perfectly reasonable, it should be considered a moral obligation for anyone that values quality control in games. They've been given a free pass on that front for far too long.

Which is why I added the edit about reasonable expectations. It is an online game. It's going to use some bandwidth just to play, and you're going to have to download patches. That's a given, and nobody can really complain about that. A 56 GB patch a week after the game launched, however, is a whole lot more than anyone can be expected to predict.

That is slightly different, then. Still, expecting a refund if one is unable to get the patch that makes the game playable is pretty reasonable.

It's the intended requirements, and if it's not met, a recall should be made for a free fix. As it happens, the fix comes in the form of a patch so you don't have to send away your game.

And if that patch causes the game to exceed the advertised system requirements, it's perfectly reasonable to expect them to issue a refund to those who are no longer able to meet the updated requirements. Furthermore, this is a day 1 patch that is mandatory to make the game playable, not one that was issued later, so it should have been included in the system requirements from day 1, and nobody should have been able to download the game before that change was made.

Quite simply, if a game requires a 100 GB download to run, and the system requirements only say 50 GB, that's false advertising. The publisher is responsible for ensuring system requirements are accurate.

In my town, that amount of people would completely fill 6 buses, and about half of a 7th. If that many people were going in that direction at the time, you would definitely need a lot of buses for that. And I know where I live, it's only one bus per hour.

Yeah, that would have to change. Note that those people can come from any number of places, so that could actually be 6 or 7 routes that converged on that one road, but if everyone was taking the bus, there would indeed need to be a bus more often than once every hour.

LinkPizza posted...
Sometimes, people don't use public transport because of the times. Like they would either get somewhere too early or too late.

That's another issue that would be solved with more frequent buses. You're always going to get spikes in ridership for buses that arrive at ~10-15 minutes to the hour, since those are typically ideal for people to arrive and start work on the hour, but if you've got buses running every 10 minutes, those who can be a bit earlier or later have that option. I have also seen routes run two buses at once at particularly busy times (like when school lets out).

LinkPizza posted...
Then you have the people that need to travel farther. People who commute out of the state to work everyday. Most public transport would probably be for around the city first,

Again, that's an issue that would be solved by park and rides. People drive in, park at a terminal, and an express bus carries them directly into another terminal in the city, from which they can catch other buses (or bike or walk to their final destination, ideally, but there aren't going to be that many terminals for express buses).

LinkPizza posted...
I don't like having to rely on public transport, especially in the state that it's in now.

And that's fair. In many places, the current state sucks. There was an article a couple years ago saying that people in my hometown were being turned down for jobs because they would be commuting by bus, because it was just that unreliable. It works in some cities, but for others, it's dismal.

For a person like myself it's rather pointless having my own for of transport.

Again, that's because you live somewhere that wasn't designed around having a car. European cities don't have the same degree of urban sprawl that most North American cities do because it's cars that enable that sprawl. New York is a notable exception because the islandy nature of Manhattan meant the city's core grew to be extremely dense, rather than sprawling. If everyone in Manhattan drove, nobody could ever get anywhere, so effective public transportation exists.

LinkPizza posted...
That depends on what kind of bus you have. The ones in my city hold 31. The newer ones hold 32-33. But those number are in only ambulatory people got on...

So long as there are more than 2-3 people on the bus, it's still going to be an improvement over having them all in their own cars. Here's a gif that illustrates just how inefficient cars are: https://imgur.com/gallery/sCvRIEd

That's more than a little idealized, since it assumes that every one of those drivers/passengers would be on the same bus/train, but the fact of the matter is that car traffic takes up an absolutely massive amount of space compared to the alternatives. So many more people could be moved around cities if public transit and active transportation options were made more viable, rather than continuing to rely on cars and develop cities accordingly.

LinkPizza posted...
The problem would most likely be getting people to want to do that. And the money to get it started. Especially everywhere...

Yeah, public transit falls prey to a vicious cycle: It sucks, so people don't use it, so the demand isn't there to justify further investment/provide capital, so it keeps sucking. It's one of those problems where the only way to solve it would be a massive, up-front investment to make a really good system in the hopes that people would use it. Of course, there's also the option of adopting a congestion charge like London does to discourage people from driving in areas where transit is a viable option, helping to offset that investment while also ensuring the investment will be more worthwhile, but that's not going to be an easy thing to get past the voter base.

Revelation34 posted...
Also the passes would be much more since they'd be able to get away with it.

Not necessarily. If the majority of a city's occupants rely on public transit, reducing the cost of transit passes is an absolutely fantastic platform for a mayoral candidate to run on. Provided the city has some control over that, rather than outsourcing it entirely to a private company that would only adjust prices if competition existed, prices could be kept reasonable.

Alternatively, contract two or more companies to do it so they end up competing with each other. Public transit isn't necessarily a natural monopoly, so provided appropriate anti-collusion measures are in place to prevent the sort of oligopoly situation we currently see with telecoms, it could work.

Revelation34 posted...
Also even if you use a system like that a s***load of bus stops are not even close to homes. You would still need a car to get there.

Realistically, a 5-minute walk to get to the nearest stop is a reasonable standard, especially if you've got a system with buses that show up frequently and reliably (so you don't need to be there 20 minutes early to ensure you'll catch one that won't show up again for half an hour +/- 20 minutes). When that isn't feasible, there's always the option of park-and-ride stops with express buses for suburbs. Those are an easy option that would make a huge difference without much investment, but for whatever reason aren't nearly common enough.

That said, the "who cares about spoilers in a fighting game" thing does disregard the fact that many people prefer the surprise of encountering unlocks and the like while playing the game, rather than being told about them beforehand. It'd be unreasonable to expect people to mark spoilers for discussing official trailer material, especially in a discussion that's obviously about that (if somebody really wants to go in blind, it's their responsibility to avoid such discussions), but openly talking about something that's been datamined is potentially inconsiderate, depending on the nature of it (i.e. "this one music track sounds good" is not a spoiler, "the final boss of the story thing is a chicken made of lego" would be).

You're never going to hit quite those numbers without moving almost everyone into cities, but that is the sort of thing we should be working toward. The individual automobile is a hideously inefficient mode of transportation in terms of space required and energy costs (and, by extension, pollution), to say nothing of the safety aspects. The fact that North America has been designed around it is a terrible mistake that's been hamstringing city planning ever since.

To be fair, there's a difference between wanting a franchise to do something fresh when it's releasing basically the same game on an annual basis and wanting a franchise to completely change genres.

That and a games quality can drop relative to newer, better games that release later.

It can indeed, and there are a good many games that haven't aged well enough to be worth paying much for. That's very much on a game-by-game basis, though. If he doesn't feel that Earthbound has aged well enough to be worth paying much for, he's perfectly entitled to that opinion, and could voice it.

Look fam, that test was two years ago and I got like a 68 on the test anyway so nothing in driver's ed actually matters.

I needed at least an 80 to pass the written test. The fact that you got through with a 68 is kind of alarming. Regardless, you really shouldn't be saying that nothing in driver's ed matters while unambiguously demonstrating that you needed to pay more attention in driver's ed and probably shouldn't be on the road until you're reeducated. Being in denial about your ignorance really isn't helping your case here.

Quips which would largely be based on the fact that boasting about his virility is a part of Trump's identity. The same cannot be said of Obama.

I'm disappointed in myself for taking until point #3 to see what you did there. In my defense, I didn't actually finish reading point #1, which might have given it away much more so than #2 did.

If your gums do bleed when you brush your teeth, you likely have some degree of gingivitis and should brush (gently) and floss more often until that subsides.

Not to mention that edibles don't come in individually wrapped fun size pieces. Like you get a plastic tube with them unwrapped in there. No kid is just going to grab an unwrapped gummy over a twix or a reeses.

Especially where preexisting paranoia about tainted halloween treats usually results in parents throwing out any unwrapped candy anyway, unless they know exactly where it came from.

Character history and context is an enormous part of why Smash is such a fun and successful game. That's why it gets so much attention.

And you aren't losing that by including somebody lower-profile. If the whole game's roster were replaced by generic enemies from various series? Yeah, the game would lose that identity and people wouldn't be interested. But including one - particularly one as iconic and recognizable as a Piranha Plant - in a roster of 77+ is not going to bring about such an apocalypse. Hence the series didn't die the day the first person unlocked Captain Falcon or Ness.

Blighboy posted...
I know you've expressed the opinion before the SSB would be just as good if all the characters were wireframes, and I hope you know very few people would agree with that.

It would be just as good. It would not, however, be as attractive. Novelty sells games, but then novelty wears off, and it's the fact that it's a good game that keeps people playing and coming back for more.

To their credit, at least he explicitly said that you should only buy the season pass now if you're confident it'll be worth it. Most publishers don't have the balls to do that.

Think about how dumb the average person is, and realize that half the world is dumber than that ~George Carlin

The problem with that statement is that "average person" isn't a statistical measure, it's an anecdotal observation. "Everyday person" would be more accurate, and even then, your perception of "everyday person" is going to be heavily skewed by the standard suite of perceptual biases (most notably, you notice remarkably stupid people more often than unremarkable ones and therefore give them more weight in your overall perception). You can't really apply statistical concepts to a non-statistical measure.
