If they really want to make sure everything gets scanned, train the cashiers to do so.

And in places with self-serve checkouts?

Usually have attendants watching the transactions take place on their own screen

Watching half a dozen registers' worth of transactions on a separate screen isn't going to help them make sure everything gets scanned.

no, but they are going to be able to notice if you didn't scan your case of soda, or some other similar big item. these machines also have scales in them, and there is a rough estimation of what an item should weigh in the system. it's why some machines freak out when go to scan, say, a gallon of milk and the machine goes UNEXPECTED ITEM IN THE BAGGING AREA because you rested it on the bagging area before scanning it

Smaller items, however, are going to be notably harder to notice. Regardless of whether or not there's an attendant on the self-serve area, that attendant isn't going to have the same view of the cart that an attendant at a normal register would have.

I wouldn't say it's being offended so much as it is being thoroughly amused by how thin-skinned they are. That, and this particular avenue of protesting would allow the protestors to take away the income of those against whom they are protesting, when all they're protesting is that their handegg experience has been made slightly suboptimal.

To be fair, in Japanese, the use of an English term in the name would be enough to set it apart. They just didn't consider what would happen in an English-speaking market.

Well.. yes. Kinda. But the air part is what makes it different. Think of a fryer with oil at 350 degrees. Completely surrounds the food because its a liquid. Now replace the oil with air at the exact same temperature and constantly move it around, doing the exact same thing but with no oil.

That still sounds like an oven. I'm guessing the trick is that it moves the air fast enough that the air doesn't have a chance to cool down, but "chamber full of hot air that cooks food" is exactly how one could describe an oven.

Pretty much. It's a non-trivial sum, certainly, and has the potential to make a significant difference, but by the sound of it, they were expecting it to do a whole lot more for them than it actually would. I don't think the $300,000 is going to last much longer in just one set of hands.

Because options are good. That, and the joycons make a lot of sense for using the system portably, given how easily they slip into a pocket and how little they add to the system's profile when attached. The pro controller's great, but it's pretty bulky to try and transport.

Pretty much everybody knows the story. And if you're only focused on a few themes which appeal to your cognitive biases, you're not just missing the romance but a lot of other stuff as well. And arguing that it's best remembered for the tragedy rather than the romance would apply to *any* tragic romance.

R&J certainly isn't a deep romance, but that doesn't mean it's not a great romance story because it hits most of the right tropes which are *still* widely used today (albeit usually without the tragic ending because viewers don't like ending their movies on a sad note)

It's a couple of horny teenagers whose parents disapprove of their relationship. It's nothing deep or special, or even really good. It's very much a tragedy before it's a romance story.

Let me put this in perspective. Romeo & Juilet is about two people that see each other at a ball and instantly start obsessing over each other despite not knowing a f***ing thing about each other. They spend the rest of the play obsessing but doing nothing with each other and the guy ends up killing Juilet's brother yet she still wants his f***ing dick. Then, the two hormone-crazed, obsessive teens commit suicide and its considered one of the greatest romantic tragedies of all time.

I'd argue that the only people that consider Romeo and Juliet to be one of the greatest romance stories ever don't actually know anything about the story beyond the fact that it's a well-known classic and romance happens. It's not even really a romance story, given that the actual focus is on the tragic consequences of clinging too closely to tribal pride. Romance is just a tool for creating those tragic circumstances.

Which is most people because most people don't understand Shakespeare. Hell, they see Shakespearean plays as being written in an "elevated" language which their not. He wrote in what was the common tongue for his time period.

By minimizing time spent outside and covering as much skin as you possibly can with heavy clothing when you do have to be out. In general, though, you do get acclimatized to a certain extent. Not usually to extremes like that, since those are very seriously dangerous temperatures, but if you're used to cold winters -10 or -20 can be brushed off pretty comfortably.

Basically the police pulls over somebody, and the guy is acting crazy...but the police officer doesnt shoot immediately (like how everyone says they should wait) and the civilian ends up going to his truck, pulling out a rifle and killing the police officer and driving off, he was some crazed Vietnam veteran
My step dad is a police officer and they show them that video in the academy to teach officers what could happen to them if they hesitate taking action in a situation like that

The officer was some young guy in his early 20s ...so pretty inexperienced... some background info on the situation

This shouldn't have been an analogous situation to that, though. Yes, the cops thought the guy inside was a major threat, but then they knocked on the door and waited for him to come open it. From a tactical standpoint, that's utterly idiotic. If you trust a guy enough to let him open the door for you, you should trust him enough to not shoot you as soon as he opens the door, and thus not need to shoot him. If he's dangerous enough to warrant shooting him as soon as he opens the door, don't let him open the door for you.

how did i get exactly what you said out of what you wrote?

its simple. i read the first sentence, and then make the assumption that you just reiterated it half a dozen or more times because you are under the impression that moar words = moar smarts!

Protip: In most persuasive writing, it's best to look at the final paragraph if you want a TL;DR version. That's usually where you'll find a summary of the conclusions being drawn in the piece. The first sentence usually just establishes the premise to be discussed and doesn't present any sort of position to consider.

Granted, given that you seem to think that anything over a hundred words is too complicated to even try reading, I'm not sure you'll have the comprehension skills to glean a point from a short summary, but I figure it's a good idea for you to hold as you move forward in your education.
