37th: Poison

Poison was an ability that appeared only in Planet Robobot.

This is truly the only ability besides Suplex that I can say was a straight-up rip-off of another ability. In this case, Water, which had only appeared in Return to Dream Land at the time of Planet Robobots release.

Most of Poisons moves are just Waters with toxic goop instead of H20. The only original move I can think of is the one where Kirby breathes out toxic gas.

So when Water made a triumphant return in Star Allies, Poison naturally hit the dust.

(Planet Robobot is my least favorite Kirby game, so yeah

Day 21 thread will be posted shortly.)

38th: Spider

Spider was an ability that was introduced in Star Allies. Since it is new, it is unknown if itll become a reoccurring ability or lost to time.

This is the part where Id say something about the ability that got eliminated, but I only played through Star Allies when it first released (I thought it was a bad game) and I remember nothing about this ability. The only thing I have to say is that I think its cool that they gave a regular enemy an ability. First Waddle Doo (Beam) and Sir Kibble (Cutter), then Broom Hatter (Cleaning), and now Como (Spider).

Spider is not in Kirby Fighters 2, unlike its siblings Artist and Staff.

39th: Backdrop

Backdrop was one of the original Adventure abilities, and one of the few not to return.

With it, Kirby inhaled enemies, and used a fierce grab attack. In a game that mostly had abilities with one move, sometimes two, this ability had the most moves by far.

For reasons unknown, Backdrop was replaced by an ability that is practically identical to it, Suplex. I dont think I can say that for any other ability except maybe Water, and even then Water came back.

This is definitely one of the worst treated abilities. Poor, poor Backdrop

Backdrops counterpart is Throw, another relatively obscure ability.

40th: Cupid

Cupid was one of the five brand new abilities in Amazing Mirror, the others being Magic, Mini, Missile, and Smash.

Kirby could shoot arrows at an angle (or should we say, angel). The arrows would descend during their flight, making for some unusual aiming. Kirby could also float in the air while attacking thanks to the wings that were on his back.

This is one of two abilities from Amazing Mirror to return in Squeak Squad, the other being Magic. The ability did not return after that.

Cupid is known as Angel in Japan.

Cupids successor is Archer, which instead fires arrows in a straight line.

(And with that, were down to three Flagship abilities. Magic, Smash, and Ghost.
