25th: Ghost

Ghost was one of four Squeak Squad abilities. Like the other three, it never returned.

It was a unique ability for several reasons. First, it had to be unlocked through special means. Second, Kirby did not attack normally. Instead, he took control of enemies! These enemies could then be played as temporarily. They were weak, easily defeated, and it was more of a gimmick ability than anything else, but it was still fun!

(I should really stop starting these rounds when Im about to fall asleep

Also, this means there are no Squeak Squad abilities left! Im really sad about that, its one of my favorite Kirby games

This makes Smash from Amazing Mirror the final Flagship ability.

26th: Ice

Ice is another mainstay ability, appearing in most games except for ones where Freeze is present instead.

With it, Kirby can freeze up his opponents with icy breath and kick the ice cubes that result from this. In Super Star and from Return to Dream Land onward, Freeze was made Ices dash move, the equivalent to Burning being Fires dash attack.

Ice was in the Dark Matter Trilogy despite Burning being in those games instead of Fire. Combining Ice with Rick or Kine in Dream Land 2 and 3 produces a move nearly identical to Freeze.

Ice is one of five abilities confirmed to appear in Forgotten Land, the others being Sword, Cutter, Fire, and Needle.

Fire is Ices direct counterpart.

(I was not expecting that elimination. Then again, were at less than 30 abilities now, so I guess more eliminations like this are bound to happen.

27th: Magic

Magic was an ability that appeared only in the Flagship games.

In Amazing Mirror, it was basically a roulette, and had one use, allowing the user to get a nice surprise from it.

If that had been it, this ability wouldnt be in the competition in the first place.

But Squeak Squad went ahead and not only brought this ability back, but also gave it a full moveset! This ability had lots of tricks up its sleeve!

Fun Fact: Magic may be based on a scrapped Super Star ability known as Card, which also had a top hat and used cards for a move.

(This elimination was sad, but to be fair, it was between this and Ghost.

Magic was an underdog in this competition, just scraping by in many instances. It preformed well. But now that leaves just two abilities from the Flagship games; Smash from Amazing Mirror, and Ghost from Squeak Squad.

slykirbys Ninja save didnt matter too much since they had already saved Magic earlier. Alas, Magic did not get the second save it needed to continue.

Leaf was an ability that debuted in Return to Dream Land. It returned in Triple Deluxe. It was also in Planet Robobot despite its technology theme, so theres that, but it wasnt in Star Allies.

Kirby became one with nature, and summoned the arts of the greenery to help him.

Its the only RtDL ability to not appear in a spin-off.

29th: Cutter

Cutter is a mainstay copy ability, appearing in many games, including Adventure, the Dark Matter Trilogy, Super Star, the Flagship games, and nearly the entirety of the RtDL era including some spin-offs(Kirby Fighters, Kirby Battle Royale). Its also one of five abilities confirmed to return in Forgotten Land, the others being Sword, Fire, Ice, and Needle. If you consider Canvas Curse a spin-off, then that means Cutter has appeared in every main series game. So while theres no copy ability that has appeared in every game with abilities ever, Cutter has accomplished something that Sword and Beam have not. Impressive stuff.

This ability is basic, even today. Kirby launches sharp boomerangs. As the name suggests, these can cut ropes. In modern titles, you can change the direction of the projectile mid-flight.

(Cutter had a good run, but since weve only got so many abilities left, I guess it was bound to go eventually.

Also, we started with 5 C abilities, and now we only have one; Cleaning!

30th: Staff

Staff was one of three new abilities in Star Allies, the others being Artist and Spider.

Using this ability, Kirby held a staff with magical properties, having a long range when poking enemies, and being able to use it for other purposes like a huge leap across the field.

Alongside Artist, it is playable in Kirby Fighters 2.

(Not much to say here, except that Artist is now the remaining Star Allies ability!

31st: Beetle

Beetle was one of four Triple Deluxe abilities, the others being Archer, Bell, and Circus.

Based on the bug of the same name, Kirby gained an almighty horn. Kirby could do attacks ranging from painful grabs to diving strikes. The wings werent just for show, and allowed Kirby to fly hyper-fast.

Although absent in Planet Robobot, Beetle returns in Star Allies, and is accompanied by a new ability, Spider.

Beetle was not in the original Kirby Fighters game mode, but could be unlocked in Kirby Fighters Deluxe by having Triple Deluxe streetpass data. In Kirby Fighters 2, Beetle can be unlocked through normal gameplay.

Beetle is also available to play as in Kirby Fighters 3D equivalent, Kirby Battle Royale.

(Two distinctions have occurred due to this elimination.

First, no Triple Deluxe abilities are left. I guess people didnt like that games abilities.

Second, despite starting off with nine B abilities, only one is left for the top 30, and that is Beam.

This hurts.

Ike is my all-time favorite SSB character, AND my favorite Fire Emblem lord. And Brawl and Path of Radiance are my favorite SSB and FE games respectively on top of that.

He was always my top priority save. And now hes gone

I guess Ill have to start saving Snake now since hes the only Brawl character left.

(Also, I wonder how many Ike fans will switch to saving Robin, because before there wasnt much overlap between the two.)
