I mixed up my contests and meant Witcher 3 in 2015, my bad -- that would be the more interesting acenario. My main concern for the question was about what that would have done for prediction rates for Witcher 3 in this year's contest.

It means we would have probably been treated to plucky underdog Breath of the Wild!

This logic is along similar lines to where I keep getting tripped up and where the movie might be failing?

To take an example from the movie: say a war in the year 2100 blows a gear off a machine and it lands somewhere obscure. Now this gear sits somewhere, undiscovered, until 2020 where it is picked up by a modern-day scientist. This scientist then places said gear into a drawer in some lab. Scientist continues to live their life with the reversed gear now stored away in a drawer.

But how is this possible? When the gear was making its trip backwards through time, it was still undiscovered until 2020 and not in a drawer. In the movie they clearly show a drawer full of reversed objects from a future war.

Is this not a possible scenario?

Maybe the objects in the drawer were placed in there in the future? In regards to the first scenario, I think that would be impossible. If someone attempted to interact with the backwards moving gear they would only be able to move it backwards in spacetime.

Probably the single most confusing thing is when he is learning about it at first. It doesn't make sense for it go backwards there because no one ever propulsed it forward at that time in reverse.

That and the fight in the hall where they go back and forth forward and backwards. Movie just gives me a headache trying to make sense of it.

The protagonist did propulse it forward. It's just that because the bullet is moving backwards in time, a forward moving object like him perceives the shot as the gun "catching" it.

The one part that confused me was the car he gets in when he goes through the time portal the first time. Shouldn't he have had to drive it "in reverse" so to speak? Or are we to just assume that the car had been through the portal and was moving backwards too? I'm gonna headcanon it that way.

I thought about The Boost, but that seems more "What If GameFAQS voters had completely different tastes?"

'06 being split by Male/Female is actually kind of important in the sense that the complaints about the contest "being boring" probably led to 4-ways, even though the issues with '06 had nothing to do with it being 1v1. That's not going to be ahead of 4 ways themselves though.

WI Mario and Samus are on opposite ends of the bracket in '05 might be #2 as well. I seem to recall transience ranking that as one of the most important matches of all time, so that might be up there. Samus probably beats Crono though, so the match happens anyway.

So I'm assuming Number One is "WI Cloud doesn't beat Link?",

The Question is which is Number Two: "WI Magus doesn't overperform against Link?" seems like a good choice. Or just straight up "WI Ganondorf beats Magus?" as that might be easier to change, as the former is still a bit of a mystery.

2007 also made people addicted to the idea that something exciting needs to be happening every day. Whenever someone brings up a throwback to the 1v1, one match a day contests, there's a groan of, "Remember when we had to waste a day on stuff like Gordon Freeman Vs. Max Payne?"

But in my opinion, those "boring" days made the exciting days that much more exciting, and I would gladly take that any day over the dull hum of our current ADD contests, where the rise of every exciting match is buried by whatever happens the next day.

Also, the older I get, the less free time I have, so I would appreciate having longer contests with more days like this to take a break from everything.

In a proper 24 hour, 12AM CST-12AM CST match, Mario should win. Crono won that time frame by a handful of votes in the match that actually happened, however the Mario-leaning board voters from the first twenty minutes wouldn't just disappear in this alternate scenario. They would have voted later instead.

Even if they didn't, the stuffer probably would have just stuffed more to make up for it.

IIRC, another reason why mask wearing was discouraged early on was that since mask wearing is more about protecting others than protecting yourself, it should primarily be done if you yourself have symptoms. The only reason to support mass masking would be if serious community spread had been reached. The extent of asymptomatic cases was unknown at the time, but I feel like a bigger problem was the delusional belief that the situation could still be contained, and the refusal to accept that the tripwire of serious community spread that should trigger mask wearing had already been tripped.

For the L-Block one I meant it more in the sense of how that would affect contest culture going further. Joke/rally fear is so prevalent; how does this change that? Even regarding Link winning, how do things change if he never gets upset in 2007, even by a joke?

That being said, I understand that going "so and so doesn't make it in" is just kind of arbitrary, even if L-Block is a more reasonable choice for this than others.

...Miss Dionne Warwick? I think not.

https://www.vulture.com/2020/12/dionne-warwick-twitter-chance-the-rapper-weeknd.html

As of late, one of the only people seeming to have fun on Twitter has been legendary R&B hitmaker Dionne Warwick. Back on November 14, she shadily wrote, Did you know that the artist can see the names of the playlists youre adding their songs to on Spotify? , piquing Twitters collective interest. Maybe someone was putting her music on Hot Girl playlists, as she tweeted ten days later, I dont know what a hot girl is, but women support women in this house! I am happy to see kind people receive recognition. Thats all. (Im turning 80. Please do not tell me what a hot girl is ). And as is bound to happen on Twitter, someone told Warwick anyway. Thank you for telling me what a hot girl is, even though I specifically asked you not to, she added.

I think not.

Crono/Bowser proved that pictures dont mean anything. Crono did worse with his sprite, and I was told for 15 years that Chrono Trigger with sprites is godmode.

You're aware that "Pictures matter" and "Pictures for CT matter" are two different arguments, right? I agree that there's no evidence that CT characters overperform with sprites, but that has nothing to do with pictures mattering overall.

I thought that Samus/Tifa settled this argument for good.

Hmm..of the ones listed, I am tempted to say Franz Ferdinand, since it seems the least inevitable.* Columbus and Jesus feel more important, but discovering the New World was inevitable, and I'm unsure as to how much Jesus being a martyr contributed to Christianity's spread. I know virtually nothing about the Battle of Hastings or its context, however.

Rome legalizing Christianity is certainly a contender as well, and I would also add Louis XVI convoking the Estates-General as an honorable mentioned that is not listed.

*9/11 wasn't inevitable either, but it's too soon IMO to consider it on par with the others.
