As someone who has never played a Yakuza game, the main thing I expected was considering how many times Shine posts a dancing Majima gif, I expected the gameplay to be something of a rhytmic beat-em-up and as I heard the music... I'm not disproved. The melody is just the kind you want to be dancing to in spite of a rock genre which normally wouldn't be... well, kind of a "dancing" genre. I heavily enjoyed it, it was pretty much an OST in the 90s until we reached the last 6 songs. Regardless of how good of a singer Kuroda is, I had to dock points for the distracting vocal songs, and then it kind of looped further down with some vocal songs being boring or worse. There's a couple that were good and still leave this rating higher up. 88/100 Least Favorite Song: As I was listening through, the worst it got was a boring song in Receive you Kiwami, but then we hit the vocal songs, and while mostly not bad, some were a little boring... but then there was Favorite Song: Now back to the positives, the first and last vocal songs were pretty good to me, and some of the minigame songs were great as well, there's a lot that could be in the running for favorite song, but all in all I have to keep it on the main song that put me in a mood for the genre of soundtrack I was listening to, which was --- I'll just go back to gifs. This entire thing makes me kind of want to reboot a project that I only really did one entry in. Anyway, onward to the actual soundtrack... it... kind of had some good, with its choice of instruments but never really shone the strongest for me. And especially reading the uploader's post at a point I got hyped up for a song that really did not deliver in the slightest, the back end of this soundtrack was extremely lackluster, even ending on a vocal song which... as I've said a few times, kind of is distracting so doesn't work as well for me. 62/100 Least Favorite Song: I enjoy atmospheric songs normally, and the desert theme of Favorite Song: At first I thought I was again going to get a combat/boss favorite in spite of how much that really isn't my favorite thing within soundtracks normally, but then the instruments in --- I'll just go back to gifs. Even proven by letting it flow into the 8-bit and listening to the first few songs again in 8-bit proved that it really was just disinterest in the music's tone the first day. It has its value in some atmosphere building, and its use of its main theme. Though I'll kind of stress this, really most of my enjoyment in this OST was its use of the main theme. Not as much hit firm, but it wasn't all too dull either. 65/100 Least Favorite Song: Favorite Song: As I said, most of my enjoyment was the use of the main theme, and it took me hitting the 8-bit to realize that, since I had changed my favorite song to Showdown, only to realize that the tune that made it bopping was --- I'll just go back to gifs. I think it was Crushed By Reality are my biggest examples outside of TV Commercials. The first seeds tension and adds sound effects, particularly a knife stabbing and cutting. The latter had what was very obviously a tense chase sequence and even gasping for air at a point. There are so many games that we have yet to do and will never be featured that I feel like doing previous games would be a waste. More importantly, I don't really see what the point would be in allowing that. Not everyone in these topics has time every month, or the capabilities to get the games in those months. I know of a few games that passed by and either I didn't have the time or the game at the time (this month included with how I'd want to play Yooka-Laylee but definitely don't have the ability to get it right now). Sometimes people don't get to beat a game they'd want to due to having too many of the games in a month. There's a lot of reasons someone just didn't get to beat something the time that it showed up. That said, it should never be in place of our three monthly stuff. Maybe at best it could be a birthday extra sort of moment (and one can only GotM back grab if they didn't get to beat it themselves, that way we don't get those 'hey I wanna recommend more people play SMB3' sort of things to make it appear 50 times like MMX joked about) or apply to one month a year as sort of a "retro" month. That's my idea with at least making sure it's not a wasted slot, at least. And in addition, only one game applies to this, sometimes people nominate games that are coming out in that upcoming month, and we have obviously Suikoden having that remake done. That has a chance of getting a lot more players when it's one of our games with only two people that completed it due to lack of ownership. Allowing something to gain a re-nomination through a 4th game it would allow more players to complete it for here, not just on their own. Sometimes I'm just someone that likes an excuse to play some games or even replay some. Off the subject, I guess I should put my Assassin's Creed 2 nomination on the board, instead of skipping out on nominating again. --- I'll just go back to gifs. Always fun little instrumentals that make you want to find remixes to your favorites. Now, it can get a little dull with everything sticking to quick paced and a high use of trumpets, but they take random different pieces to it. Now, two of these songs weren't the first time I listened to them. Both Satori and Utsuho were on my character+themes list. Couldn't tell you how they did there, but at least here the song for the latter didn't interest me. While lacking, it's still a ZUN ost and thus was a nice pace for me while working on things. Always great. 80/100 Least Favorite Song: The worst you get really is dull when it comes to this. Of course, some people might not like ZUN's style, which is the disclaimer, but when I mention this dull thing, I mean for those that actually like his style. Anyway, the thing that hit my boredom the most was Favorite Song: Satori's song actually nearly made me change my favorite with its use of piano, but it felt lacking on the rest. Least Favorite Song: I've been ordering it in reverse for that past few ones, but I should get these out of the way first. When the soundtrack is at its worse, it's dull. And when tracks are the same repeated melody, it comes at a price of if you don't like a melody, it stays for like 3 minutes, and that was my problem with Favorite Song: This soundtrack occasionally can get you to feel the atmosphere or the scenario incredibly well at times, either from ice/desert music, or the emotional impact of like Defend Globe. It has a lot of meaning to what's being played, and that's where it hit me that I need to stop. It'll get in my head. Songs I recognize can spoil me. My favorite never changed because whenever I found a melody I slightly liked, it'd be a longer song and either it turned dull, or it completely ruined it. A lot of songs have the feeling of inspiration from Mega Man and it somewhat works, but can also run dry mixed in with everything else. No fault to those that liked the OST from the start, but didn't appeal to me as much. My rating? I'll give it the number of tracks. 84/100 Least Favorite Song: Outskirts. Nothing topped my dislike for this, it dragged on a melody that never appealed to me. Though the fact that nothing fell below it is a pretty good sign, considering how early in the soundtrack it was. Favorite Song: To be honest, my fight for top song was pretty hard battled as it went on, there's just a few things that clicked really well, mostly what I expect were more dungeon themes, but what I had to go with may be fitting for my name. She has only one real stat, and thus becomes a nuke, but requires minor babying (which is easier on her than on Sophia or Wendy due to earlier join time than the former and ranged advantage over the latter). She's a great mage if Lugh just isn't cutting it for you. Also cute, but not as great of a character which is likely again because of Binding Blade's writing. Nephenee, however, is my girl. When I first played PoR, she took the place of my favorite FE female due to the class I saw in GBA but never could play as, and the fact that her shyness overtook Florina's. I'm not often a country girl person, but Neph takes a special kind of shyness where she's shy strictly because of not wanting people to hear her accent and word habits. Granted, to be flat out honest, regardless of the RNG blessings I've had with her, she's lance and foot-locked in a game that has OP Paladins. --- I'll just go back to gifs. The starting duo of Cain and Abel are pretty basic in personality and that is mostly because if you played only Shadow Dragon and have only tidbits of what they're like through Heroes they really don't have personalities. At lower difficulties, Cain's power doesn't come at as much of a cost in Shadow Dragon, but both are overshadowed by Frey if you play the tutorial and keep him. For FE6, I tried both. Once again they're both pretty plain, and Lance has a benefit of higher speed and skill. Alan/Allen however, has higher strength but at the cost of speed and skill, and thus accuracy. In a game with more notable 90% accuracy missing way more often than you'd think. I haven't really gotten either to Paladin. Kent and Sain are similar in the case of one is stronger with lower accuracy and the other is weaker with a higher chance of outspeeding opponents. And really, to be honest Sain gets enough speed to double, but I've seemingly had better luck with Kent all the time due to that accuracy, especially once he hit Paladin and could utilize axes to remove his strength deficit. And I really do like Kent's personality, even though it's dull to some. Meanwhile, Sain comes off too strongly. Franz and Forde, is just one where I'm going to be weird. Franz, for me, comes fairly weak but early enough to train him, but you also gain some other units around him that are equally, if not more rewarding if you train. And even his niche of good movement is ruined by... Well, the fact that Seth is actually competent in the late game too. I've seen a Franz still be behind Seth even after a late promotion. Forde could easily be behind too, but one of the biggest benefits for me with him, is the fact that all of his supports end the game with mounted movement. He provides utility to both of the Lords, so whichever route he's in, he can support them with Wind Affinity. Granted, not that supports are that necessary in Sacred Stones, but it's always nice. Also, Forde is pretty much my favorite womanizer currently because he's not fully upfront and flirty, he's subtle and suave. --- I'll just go back to gifs.
