I was pretty worried I wouldn't like the game but I just beat it at about 38 hours in.

I would give it an 8 out of 10. I've enjoyed it quite a lot. More than SM or XY and I think I'll be playing it for a while. I hope they fix the problems for the DP remakes.

Good:
-I've been engrossed in the game pretty well.
-The wild area gives you a lot to do and I really enjoy spending time there. Max raids are fun.
-Great fun new designs for the new Pokemon (and also humans)
-Putting most of the old Pokemon in wild areas means everywhere else is more concentrated with new Pokemon.
-They finally put Pokemon on the overworld so you can avoid them in caves and grass and pick a fight only if it's the mon you want rather than rolling the dice with random encounters. Not only does it improve the gameplay, it also makes the world feel vastly more alive with creatures.
-Dynamaxing is dramatic and every Pokemon can do it (unlike mega evolution).
-Lots of ease-of-use improvements
-The writing doesn't feature any ridiculous garbage about truth vs ideals or garbage musings about beauty, like the villains from BW, XY, or other Pokemon games.
-The game looks good in handheld mode, it looks like it renders at full resolution there. Also the Pokemon and characters look great in HD.

Bad:
-Overall presentation hasn't been improved much compared to Sun and Moon. The biggest problem IMO and it manifests in moments of underwhelming animation, audio, environments, and more.
-It's missing Pokemon. This is sad but only because the series has done so well at keeping them all until now. On the plus side, it's easier to get the shiny charm now :P
-Everywhere you go Hop is there to round you to the next part of the story and it gets old fast
-Routes don't offer much in the way of exploration.
-Wild area is graphically ugly and performs badly when your wireless is on.
-While some environments are atmospheric, some are visually unpolished or lacking detail
-The story is nothing special, it's very cut-and-dry and you might find it annoyingly stale if you played past Pokemon games.
-Gigantamax forms are really cool, but the Pokemon you raise can't access them--only ones you get from raids.

That's good. But they already said they would stop years ago, and they KEPT ON giving money to anti-gay organizations (and enjoyed an improved undeserved reputation because most people believed them that they'd stopped).

Only time will tell if they are actually stopping it now. In any case, I'm not about to start eating there again. Nothing against the employees, it's just about the people running the company, they've put money toward anti-gay groups for so long. Moreover, they catered at an event for me last year and their food is way too salty and it's nowhere near as good as I remember it being.

tl;dr That's good assuming they follow through this time, but they've already tarnished their name and I'm not gonna fellate them for saying they're gonna change.

that is such a goddamn lie it's almost funny. I'm at 12:54 hours played with 3 badges and 42 pokemon caught and haven't been grinding, just playing at a normal pace. I bet you can beat the game in 12 hours (as with most Pokemon games) if you rush through it and skip half the content.

Which is exactly what people would have had to do to finish the game at the time you posted your message. -_- The people who don't skip all the content and whine about length are still playing the game

Can't speak for other people but I'm not surprised or hurt they made fun of trans people. But they've been doing it for like 20 years now for low-hanging jokes and yet they still haven't introduced an actually trans character for people to empathize with. While they're taking potshots at trans people the whole time. Seems a bit unfair to me. They don't have to add a trans character but maybe they should if they want to keep harping on it.

People want to think that somebody like me who is criticizing something about South Park's politics is really angry. But in reality I'm not trying to demand them to do anything. I'm just pointing something out. You can ignore if you want

I can't speak for other people, but I wasn't bothered by the episode this week and I agree with them that trans athletes are just too strong to compete in women's events (not a very controversial opinion really). Even so it's still fair to analyze and criticize the show. Criticism doesn't mean you're riled up or upset. It doesn't mean you hate something because you criticize it. The only thing that upsets me about south park atm is how stale randy's manchild/marijuana stuff got

Looney Tunes is a comedy show.

South park is more than that. When you decide to fill your comedy show with controversial topics and make regular political and social statements, your show becomes receptive to critiques and analysis from political and social perspectives. None of this is about whether I agree with them about trans athletes, but if they're gonna spend decades using trans people for cheap laughs then why not eventually also explore their real problems with a genuine trans character.

Kyle and Stan are literally the only two entities resembling genuine people on the show.

I mean look at Token and the way they treat his race, he's taken seriously and they genuinely grapple with stereotypes about being black and the struggles black people face in many of his storylines. More recently craig and tweak are being treated as a gay couple beyond just laughing about gay people and they do also occasionally get into legitimate struggles of gay people. For trans people they just use it for cheap jokes and haven't actually looked into trans people's perspectives like they have for other minority groups. The closest they went was the episode where people decided they were ok with trans people using whichever bathroom, but there weren't even any trans characters in that episode, just people pretending. Maybe bring in somebody who's actually trans and not just lying or trying it out a gender surgery for the hell of it?

I guess they have caitlyn jenner but she's not a fleshed out character

They actually started doing this way back in Ruby and Sapphire by letting you use L as an A button. Playing on a GBA SP meant you could do most of the basic functions just with your left hand. Then they dropped that feature for a while. I'm actually really happy it's back again

I don't really know much about LIS or Tell Me Why. But I think it's worth exploring the lives of trans people in games. When cis people play the game it can maybe show them a bit of what it's like to be trans so they can understand a bit more. For a game like this in particular which seems to be very character-driven it's a good idea to delve into this especially since AFAIK there are basically no games that seriously present actual trans people as they live today. I also like the setting in rural Alaska.

Also it reminds me of how there were identical twins in my high school and one of them was trans and started transitioning right before graduation.

I can see why you think that since some missionaries do actually help people build their infrastructure. The biggest problem (other than teaching harmful backwards views or making aid conditional on converting to their religion) is that missionaries tend to be single-minded and unwilling to learn and adapt to the cultures they visit. Usually a missionary isn't gonna know what's best for a community but they domineer development anyway.

But your topic seems to be specifically about how missionaries travel to spread their religion rather than about efforts to build infrastructures and actually help people. So...I mean in that regard I guess in their view they're doing good? In reality it's just useless and pointless and IMO more harm than good. The only good that comes out of missionaries is when they actually help build infrastructures

The people who deserve praise are the ones who go to impoverished/dangerous countries to offer aid without holding it ransom in the name of Jesus.

It's such a baffling implication to make. Imagine being hired by IGN and told to make sure you adjust your opinions and reviews so they never contradict anything anybody else who's worked there has ever said and fully agree with all the other people there about everything.

The Monster energy stuff feels more obnoxious than those, the whole game feels heavily commercialized and I think it's partly because of its dependence on the countenances of hollywood actors. If he was just trying to satirize consumerism or joke around, then he could have made up a fake brand of energy drink. The MGS product placement is dumb too but monster energy is a disgusting product and it makes no sense to exist in this game. Especially with how your canteen turns rain into monster energy of all things. (Though I guess both of them accelerate your aging process lol)

The cup noodles thing is just as bad but at least it's just a one-time event.
