It was a coincidental ,almost movie like, reconnection where we haphazardly ran into each other in a dense city bustling with people. So we hang out on a Friday night, go to some of the outdoor bars (yes there are outdoor bars during covid), get drunk, and walk/chill around until 2am. I've been making her laugh the whole time by the way. I dunno what it was but my jokes were just on rapid fire. We're at a park a few blocks from my place. At this point I wanted to make a move. We sat down and I sat as close as possible to her, and she didn't move away which is a great sign. I start cracking jokes. We talk, I touch her shoulder and thigh a little bit, and she's cool with it. Another great sign. And we talk and talk some more, but I never made the move to make out. I bitched out. Eventually we walk around a bit more, and we're on my block next to my place, and I did not invite her over. A few minutes later she calls an Uber. We hang out again the next week, and she's a little bit more aloof. A little more serious. She was laughing at only few of my jokes. We hung out for a few hours, and it seemed like she wasn't into me, and I misread the previous situation. At this point, we've been texting a lot, and I developed a genuine crush on her. So we hang out one more time. I actually meet up with her at her place, and we go to a bar nearby. I bring up the part about her being aloof last time, and said it in a funny way "You were a little bit aloof last time we hung out. You were like spongebob when he had the suds". She was like she was on her period so internally I was like, "okay I might be able to still salvage this". So we talk. I saw a few signs that she gave where she wanted me to make a move, but I didn't. We talk a bit about astrology. She tells me she's a Pisces and how it makes her very sensual. Out of nowhere she redirects a conversation to, "you should take viagra". I was taken a bit back and was just like yeah "I need to take it when I drink. Alcohol is a repellent for the Alaskan Bull Worm." And finally after we leave the bar, we walk around for a bit near her place, and she starts telling me she had a dream where she was about to have sex but didn't; the dream ended too soon. I was very taken aback, and I was just like "dang I'm jealous." And that was it for that night even though we were literally a few blocks away from her place. So we text a lot and hang out one more time. This time I really wanted to make a move and told myself I would. We hang out at a park, get high, and walk around a bit. I was really nervous and not my usual self both due to being high and nervous about making a move (getting high brings out every insecurity I have. Huge mistake doing this). So we chill on a park bench listen to music for about an hour. Again, I did not make a move. Here comes the very cringe part. I was walking her back to her place, which was an awkward 15-20 min walk because the whole time I'm like omg I have to make a move. We finally get to her place and I still haven't done it. Eventually I call an Uber and she waits for me. The conversation died down and she's looking the other way. I put my arm around her in an aggressive manner (was just so nervous) and am like "you know what I really like you!!" and she gets immediately spooked by my arm, and then starts laughing. And then she rejects my ass, and asks me to be friends. Yeah I'm friends with her and we've hung out a couple more times, but I dunno. I was devastated. It took me a couple months to get over it. tl;dr
Whenever I hang with a girl I really like, I'm always afraid to make a move. I've been able to hook up with other girls when I'm not as emotionally invested. But I don't even like one night stands. I only did them just to prove to myself that I could. Yeah w/e you can judge me, but the girls were in it for the one night stand as well. I'd never mess with someone's emotions. --- |

Our brain solves math equations, specifically a surjective function. The inputs to the function are everything that you've taken in from your environment and your internal self at any given time. Everything is fed into this function in your brain which can reproduce a memory; albeit, not precisely but with a reasonable degree of accuracy to invoke the same emotion upon memory creation. That's a very blunt way to look at it. The function is self-modifying, i.e. it may invoke different emotions the next time you recall a similar memory. What's interesting to note is because the function is surjective, different input combinations can evoke a largely similar memory. --- |
