I got a Lenovo H50 w/ AMD A8 for about $300 a few years ago. Main reason I got it was for recording songs, but it was pretty good for gaming too. I put a ~$60 graphics card in it and it could play most games I owned at high settings and newer games at at least medium.

I've been replaying both WW and TP on the Wii U this month for the first time in 10+ years. WW still sucks.

It was an interesting concept, but they clearly only attached the Banjo-Kazooie characters to it to make it sell. Should have just came up with a new series for that gameplay and made an actual Banjo sequel.

Xbox One X is the most powerful console available though. They even upgrade some of the backwards compatible games for it.

I asked because the game I was playing gave achievements for beating the game, regardless of save state use. In these cases, I think either using save states should disable the achievements or there should be separate achievements for beating the game without save states/rewind.

The DS remake seemed like a good idea, but even if you look past the downgraded graphics, the controls make it unplayable. Even the analog stick in the 3DS wasn't enough, because it was programmed for 4-button input.

I'd love to see them try a full remake again on the Switch, but I'd be more than happy with a graphics-only remake too.

This came up because I was playing that Disney Afternoon Collection earlier.

I was thinking it kind of depends on how the game was originally intended to be played. Most NES games obviously were designed around replaying large sections of the level. Save scumming levels and bosses whenever you get hit takes all the challenge and reward of the game.

On top of that, they even added rewind buttons to some rereleases, like this and the Mega Man Legacy Collection. It makes the achievements for beating the games feel pointless.

I totally get not wanting to see theatre/opera in person because I have absolutely no interest in them. I wouldn't even go if I was offered free front row seats.

Sports is a bit different. I used to love watching NFL and only lived an hour from my favorite team's stadium, but going there seemed worse than just staying home. You're still watching it live on TV and you get a much better view of the game than if you paid for affordable tickets. Then there's the cold weather, overcrowding/noise, overpriced food/beer, etc.

Concerts are different though. Once a band is done, they're done. It's not like a sports team that will always be around or a play that can be reenacted infinitely.

I'm guessing you either have never actually been to a concert or you aren't a big fan of any particular bands.

I spent ~$500 to meet my favorite band and stand on stage while they played and it was honestly one of the best days of my life.

This. I have all the old Metallica albums, but Kill Em All is the only one I still listen to. It's even been one of my most played CDs the last two years.

The "No Life 'Til Leather" bootleg is awesome too, despite the sound quality. It's most of the same songs, but with Mustaine still in the band. It has the much faster "The Mechanix" version of "Four Horsemen" and "Jump in the Fire" is a little faster with mostly different lyrics.

Honestly, this should have happened a long time ago. I was told they're "not allowed to have cameras in a classroom setting," which makes no damn sense to me. They have them all over the halls and offices, but not the classrooms. All the after school settings I've worked in had cameras covering every spot.

Good god, yes. Some parents just treat school and after school programs as free daycare centers. Most parents actually are willing to meet and follow up at home, but some just enable and defend - if not straight up encourage - bad behavior. Those few are the ones that need a solid penalty that they'll actually care about.

There's just no respect for adults in a lot of schools anymore.

I've been working as a Teacher's Aide for 4 months and I've already been attacked twice. One kid whipped an apple at me hard enough to leave a small bruise and the other grabbed my arm and punched me 3 or 4 times. Some of my co-workers have had kids threaten to kill them and their family. I also had one kid joke about telling someone I "tried to rape her." And that's all just elementary school. I would never, ever work in a middle school or high school.

Worst thing is, nothing ever really happens to the kids. Most of them get detention for a day or two, maybe a call home or a short suspension, but then they just come back and continue the same behaviors.

This is sad, TC. Stop.

A Bachelor's is only useful if you're transferring to a graduate program. I did it before law school, but then dropped out of that and got stuck with a useless degree.

The only application I found for it was childcare/education-related work, but the pay is absolute shit and you can get treated terribly, depending on the setting.

Sometimes the portion size is so small that you'd be better off just buying the stuff at a regular store.

Plus every one I ever go to has their registers severely under-staffed, so their lines take longer than any other store.

Used my gift cards to get Assassin's Creed Odyssey Gold Edition ($50) and Grand Theft Auto V ($15) for Xbox. Still have $50 left that idk what to do with yet.

What I remember is that to get true hdr you need a 10-bit panel TV. But there are 8-bit ones that can simulate 10-bit and it's not really that big of a difference especially since it's usually much cheaper.

Huh. I don't recall even seeing anything about 8-bit or 10-bit panels in the details when I was looking them up so far. I'll almost certainly end up with an 8-bit one though.

tbh you can just buy a regular 4k uhd hdr 10 tv. If you're in a budget you can get any one from a trusted manufacturer like Samsung or LG. The games won't look drastically different

I was aiming for an HDR10 TV anyway, since that's what most of the One X enhanced games listed on their page. I don't know how to tell though. Is it safe to say that a cheap HDR TV is HDR10?

Also, is there any brands to avoid? I saw an HDR Vizio at a decent price, but I can't remember if they were poor quality.

I never planned on buying a 4K TV, but I won an Xbox One X last month and started pricing them around Black Friday. There's so many terms I never paid attention to before, like UHD, HDR, HDR10, OLED...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I gather:
- All 4K TVs are UHD
- Not all 4K TVs have HDR
- Most 4K TVs are LCD (or LED?), but the high-end ones are OLED (?)
- There are different kinds of HDR
- HDR10 is the "default;" basically, if it doesn't specify what kind of HDR the TV has, it's HDR10 (?)

I almost fucked up and bought a non-HDR one on impulse, but thankfully didn't. I just basically want to get one that will make the best use of my One X without spending too much. 50" seems to be about the highest I can go price-wise.

Tried to translate my favorite color (viridian) into German. Only result I really got was the German version of Viridian City from Pokemon, which is Vertania City.
