So that Shane thing I wanted to mention. This is a comic spoiler. If you haven't read them and intend to, then ignore this post.

You may recall the scene from S1 E5 where Rick and Shane are in the woods. Shane is frustrated and aims his gun at Rick from afar, but ultimately doesn't shoot and we see Dale was watching. Well in the comic this scene was the end of Shane. Carl was the one who saw Shane aiming at his father and shot him then and there. Then Rick put him down after he turned (several issues later). Shane never reached the farm.

Huh so they inversed it in the show

Out of context, the show version sounds way better.

No, it's kind of shitty how they rewrote Ricks character to look incompetent in order to make Shane look better by having him take over Ricks character for the first two seasons. Shane was nothing but a whiny little bitch who offered nothing to the group.

I don't know about the comics that no one read but in the show Shane did a lot.

Killed a ton of walkers, protected the group, saved Carl, taught losers how to fight and he was right a huge amount of the time.

He was a good character and I liked his dynamic with Rick outside of the dumbass love triangle

the end of the world changes people. to survive people have to get harder. but someone like shane who was already to the point where he would kill innocent people like otis was at a point where he was just going to get worse and worse
if he immediately went to extremes in the early days of the apocalypse than he wasnt going to reign it in. he was going to be an outright villain after the first year was over
you need to hold on to your humanity in this world otherwise you become worse than the undead and get more and more people killed
shane was a danger to everyone around him and was basically a ticking time bomb

He was coping fine until Rick turned up. I think if he just got Lori every Tuesday and 2nd weekends, things would have been fine
