She's got the worst base attack in the game but unless her HP scaling is 100% or better attack will still be the optimal choice. Right now the only character that has this kind of scaling is C6 Noelle with defense.

Lantern event was super disappointing and boring. And getting Keqing before reaching pity certainly did not help. After I'm done suffering for these last few primos I'm probably taking a break from this game until actually worthwhile content comes.

Thats usually how new years events roll in these games. Not much to do but amazing rewards.

Older FE games didn't have the class changing that exists in the newer titles. And 3H is the only FE that basically allowed any character to be any class.

3H doesn't allow any character to be any class but it does have the most freedom. But even among older FE titles there was not a significant difference between most Healers for example. Anyone with a staff could heal about the same.

Triangle is like "this one person has all the water and lightning magic and if you don't use them then you won't be able to use any kind of terrain feature that benefits from it"

Fire emblem characters are hardly unique. I mean people will argue who makes the best what until they're blue in the face but at the end of the day you can just play your favorites and give them whatever classes you want.

This is closer to what shining force did though I also remember that game being really easy.

Wouldn't that be due to people not using them properly? In most strategy RPG's you have to make use of the unit to level them up.

Arguably there are some guest characters and classes that are overpowered compared to the others so if people want to rely on them, that is their choice. Again, using FFT as my main reference there.

There's still the issue that you're only permitted a limited number of deployments and have far more units than you can ever deploy at once.

Tactics Ogre: LUCT got around this by assigning levels to jobs. If your Archer was level 20, any character you made an Archer became level 20, for example. It took only a few battles to bring a newly unlocked job to level parity.

In FFT levels scaled based on the highest level character in your formation so regardless of what was happening you're always rewarded by using your lowest level characters.

Triangle isn't doing either of those things. Not only do the levels seem to be fixed but every character is unique and has to be leveled individually. This means either 1) grinding or 2) some characters just won't ever get used.

I think any RPG is going to allow for users to power level if they want to. What strategy RPG are you talking about in regards to HAVING to level as opposed to knowing the mechanics?

Beyond a couple solo fights in FFT for example there is no need to power level at all.

It's not about power leveling it's about some units falling so far behind they're essentially unusable for the whole game.

That is more a mechanic of RPG's in general. Arguably you might be able to get away with less of it in a Tactics RPG as your use of the mechanics might be able to outdo pure numbers.

Well in regular RPGs it makes more sense since those games are about becoming stronger so that you can overcome the next challenge.

A strategy focused game should focus on strategy and not character growth.

If any of yall are play Tales of Crestoria; they just released a fucking new quests that only Whales can complete. You need a fully Awakened team equipped with Ascended SSR stones and you'll also be using Gems to revive to complete them. Fucking bullshit.

This is what Guardian Tales does on the regular I just ignore it and move on. The rewards for beating them usually suck anyway.

You mean for the evolution stones? Because previously every unique hero had their own stage and it was getting cluttered so they deleted them all and replaced them with a single stage per element that you can choose the rewards for.

Being able to set the shards is really nice. I kinda wish we could "opt out" of rare shards for more normal shards though. Evolving normal heroes is somehow harder than evolving unique ones.

I agree, and it's a shame it took me 30+ years to finally come to this conclusion. I remember as a teenager I was so upset that I didn't cry when my grandmother passed away, but in retrospect I loved her a lot, and I grieved in my own way. For the second map I had to only deploy 6 units out of my permissable 9 because the AI is dumb and would rather just idle for 14 turns in front of ice walls instead of try to go around, so in order to bait them properly I had to cut my team so they had less targets.

Third party characters are always going to be kind of a long shot and there's not many first party characters to choose from.

They can probably add KOS-MOS + T-ELOS echo or skin but they just royally fucked that up. Great chance to add a non swordfighter at the same time.

I mean, technically there is an Inkling costume or two as far as black characters in Smash goes. It's not a lot by any stretch of the imagination, but it's SOMETHING. They could have easily made a black pokemon trainer too if they put in some effort.

Honestly though the lack of black characters in smash isn't a remark on nintendo specifically as much as it is a remark on the dearth of recognizable black characters in video games.

Most of the most famous ones are side characters. Main characters are few and far in between and most of them don't have very successful games.

The ones that do are like, Grand Theft Auto.

So people always rolling their eyes at folks complaining about "another white main character" but it has problems downstream as well and this is one of them.

It's definitely more tactics ogre. The fact that there's different choices that change the story & who joins your team is very much a TO thing. FFT was really linear with the choices you make not really changing much.

Well for 6 I got the same 3-portal map over and over. When I got to 7 I did it 4 times and got the 3-portal map 3 times and the huge square map with one portal the fourth time.
