Cross's level-ups are tied almost exclusively to defeating bosses, with the first few encounters after a boss also giving small stat ups. It's basically impossible to be underleveled, as this also works across your entire 45-character party.

Im definitely intrigued then, assuming the main draw of the game is the story/characters/etc. and not the battle system I could definitely see myself giving it a shot now

You can turn enemy encounters off? That sounds really enticing and might get me to actually play a turn based RPG again, but won't you just end up super underleveled for boss battles?

Live A Live does look interesting, was the original considered good?

I already got bamboozled with the final season thing once, are they on track to finish it this time or is there probably gonna be a final season part 3?

I feel like everyone else is playing a different game than me. Like its not bad but it leaves so much to be desired imo, feels like a proof of concept more than anything. That said assuming they build off this its a promising formula

Honestly what makes you feel that Replicant/ Gestalt is more deep? I felt the opposite, but maybe its because I played Automata first. Replicant felt like a rough draft of the concepts and themes that would be further explored and realized in Automata.

Havent been able to get more than 5 hours of sleep all week. Like I wake up tired but my body just refuses to fall back asleep :(

The twists in the first one were a little too predictable and tame for an Uchikoshi game, my favorite scene was where Iris and Ota were talking at the ramen shop about random (pseudo)-science phenomenon in typical Uchikoshi fashion but all that was purely a red herring that went nowhere.

Hes improved at writing characters though, so if he can combine that with his usual insane plot hell have something special.

A part of me wants to get this because I really like the concept and reviews have been very favorable. But whenever I watch footage it just looks so bad. I do want to give it a shot myself, and the hype is getting to me a bit...so I'll probably end up getting it, but this is the riskiest game purchase I'll have made in a while.
