Eh it's more like Disney in general has this motive to appear woke so a lot of their movie choices seem more artificial. Black Panther was a great movie though. They can be pandery and good at the same time.

I'd argue that film representation does have some value, but film studios really try to oversell this to make themselves look progressive.

Many people have a very hard time understanding criticism of "woke" ideology as being different from a progressive ideology. Woke generally refers to a much more performative (dare I say virtue signal) set of actions while progressive is more matter of fact.

Frankly, I don't care what the leads of a film look like, but Feige has made it very clear that the MCU will be making very strong pushes for diversity going forward. If these films are like Black Panther then great. If they're like Captain Marvel and Falcon and the Winter Soldier (by far the most I've ever been disappointed in an MCU film/series) then I won't be too excited.

In a greater sense, I'm getting really sick of the Marvel formula and Marvel humor. It looks like they're trying to make their movies more diverse, but not trying to fix any of these issues.

The Suicide Squad is a great example of doing something different with the super hero genre. MCU stuff tends to feel the same even when it is different. The MCU also seems to rely on a lot of callbacks to obscure side characters showing up.

Like I would probably never accuse a DCEU film of pandering if they had a film full of non white leads, because they've never given any indication that they care about performative politics so I'd assume it was 100% because they believe in what the film is.

Just finally listened to the song after kind of forgetting about this topic for a while. It is definitely a banger. It sounds exactly like something I'd listen to while in middle school in 2003. I'm talking specifically of China. I don't think the Chinese will be too terribly impressed with this film. There is also no universal Asian identity like there is for those of African ancestry. A lot of Asian countries don't like each other.

I'm just saying that I highly doubt this film will pander to the group in question nearly as well as Marvel would hope.

I don't really have strong feelings about this film either way, but I do intend to see it. My hype for this film is only low in the sense that my hype for the entirety of the MCU is low. I mostly didn't enjoy the Disney+ shows except for a lot of Wandavision. Didn't enjoy Endgame as much as I thought I would and I hated Captain Marvel. Stuff like that happens and I'm just not as excited for future entries.

This is my biggest issue. There's been no civil dialogue regarding this vaccine. Everyone's physiology and situation is different. Any time someone asks a question or makes a critical statement, they become the victim of childish name-calling and insults. I got warned for trolling of all things here not long ago because I raised numerous questions, of which I didn't get any answers. Just insults. These people love to praise science, but do a horrible job at defending it. They completely forget that the very foundation of science is built on challenging existing truths. I can't speak for everywhere, but for a long while now the official policy in my state has been "if you're vaccinated, you don't need a mask. If not, mask up." Last I looked, vaccination rates in my state are somewhere around 40%, maybe?

Yeah I agree with every single reason you and I and many other vaccinated individuals have to feel frustrated by those who just aren't helping. I'm not saying I want to be friends with these types of people. I dislike them strongly. You did a great job outlining many reasons to disapprove of their behavior and attitudes.

I'm just saying that the reality of adding to the hostility of the situation by yelling at these anti vax types does nothing to accomplish the goal of getting people vaccinated. If nothing else I mean, I've never felt great about myself after calling an anti vaxer an idiot. I've certainly freaked out on people over this. There are a lot of people very eager to label others and anything as anti vax. These are usually the same people who think it is extremely important to be vaccinated, but are very eager to yell and scream at people who express any small amount of vaccine hesitancy. No one has ever been convinced to get vaccinated by being yelled at. It just isn't helpful and it you feel you can only yell at people then just be quiet instead.

Like I absolutely get the frustration with anti vax types, but you need to express some patience with them otherwise you are only decreasing the odds they'll get vaccinated. Not that you were gonna convince them otherwise, but there is zero way you are helping by yelling at anyone.

Oprah is largely responsible for popularizing the anti vax movement. Before she had some prominent anti vaxxers on her show it was extremely fringe, but now it is pretty mainstream.

Yeah I just looked up the play. It was reviewed and called a penalty. From watching it, it looks like the US player got in front, but made contact with the Canadian player and tripped her up. I mean the Canadian was knocked off her feet and the US player kept going. That is what I saw from the play.

Biden is not lighting the country on fire (metaphorically) and Kamala Harris is widely disliked. I kind of doubt Biden runs again, but who knows.

If Harris runs then I absolutely guarantee she will lose against anybody with an R next to their name.

Trump would 100% bear Harris no doubt.

More realistically, I expect someone like Ron DeSantis to run and win against whoever the Dems can put up.

The Democrats had four years to develop a good candidate and the best they could do was Biden. I have absolutely zero optimism that the Dems can find anyone better than Biden to run in 2024.

Any penalty within the box results in a penalty kick. I'm no soccer expert, but I'm unaware of any sort of penalty that could be committed outside the box that could result in a penalty kick.

The box is the large box that is formed around the goalie net. It is the larger box and not the smaller box.

I did still find WW84, but I really had to turn my brain off. Like I found it entertaining, but it is such a drop in quality from the first film. The story is just straight up stupid. Pedro Pascal does a great job though. I was really disappointed in Kristen With though. She's one of my favorites and she just wasn't a good villain at all.

I'd mostly describe WW84 as like an early 2000's superhero movie that gets tons of stuff about the characters completely wrong.

Probably for the enthusiast theme park community who get super focused on the most random stuff like gamers do on this website. Do they argue over which is the most famous ride? Do they care about who runs the parks and what they say in interviews?

Dude, I watch theme park videos everyday. There are tons of theme park forums out there bigger than this site. There is a whole world out there. There are tons of YouTubers who vlog the theme parks everyday.

And yes to all of your questions. There are all sorts of arguments over best rides (though I rarely see people getting toxic about that) and things that Disney executives have said.

I'd be happy to recommend a bunch of YT channels if you'd like.
