Stephen King is known for having some terrible opinions.

The answer to his question is that the only thing companies understand is money. When you believe something is on the wrong track, like many do with the MCU, the only time you can say "I told you so" with actual evidence is after box office failure...as that is the only metric that matters to these companies and the people who support them.

Of course Stephen King wouldn't understand a disaffected fan of Marvel, he is, by his own admission, largely indifferent to such content.

Wellbutrin is mainly used to treat depression, but it can also be used to treat ADHD and anxiety, though it is effectiveness is limited and should not be used alone to combat those conditions if they are severe.

Wellbutrin is not believed to cause the sexual side effects of other anti-depressants (it works in a completely different way), though atypical cases have been reported, they are generally mild and clear up after stopping. In some cases Wellbutrin was used to treat sexual side effects caused by other anti-depressants.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC181094/

In short, I'd give it a shot if I were you, it is a relatively safe medication and given the shortage of drugs to treat ADHD, it is a common sense place to start. Just be aware that it WILL take a toll on your appetite and you will want to make sure you are consuming the right amount of fluid and food.

Not a good streak by Newsom as of late. The fact that the state brand insulin will be under the price cap means he likely only vetoed the bill to help pharmaceutical companies so they wouldn't put up as much fuss.

So they could get their last bit of price gouging in before the slow veil finally collapses over insulin, give them plenty of time to set up on the next con.

Original trilogy and probably Revenge of the Sith. Force Awakens might make the list but it is responsible for the dumb as hell reset of the status quo and any potential it did have was burnt into nothingness by the sequels.

I'd also say Rogue One is just a hair under Serenity in terms of quality. With the difference largely being because of the established characters of Firefly being more interesting than the rather cliche group assembled in Rogue One.

TheShadowViper

The problem is a lot more complicated than most pro/against advocates would have you think.

One of the chief issues is those most ready to jump into legalized prostitution are exactly the sort you don't want being in the forefront. These people often have illegal enterprises beyond prostitution, giving them legitimate business where the supply is often vulnerable men and women is not exactly looking for a good outcome.

Think Littlefinger from GOT, those type of people will use the legitimized business to fund supply for illegal businesses - such as human trafficking and sexual exploitation of minors. Just because you legalize prostitution does not mean the seedier elements disappear nor does it even guarantee they will be mitigated.

This is one of those things that would need the implementation to not be shit, and I don't think many places in the US are capable of doing that at the moment.

I feel like they should have simply made him more depressed, dismissive, and cold, barely reacting to the things that were happening. Not only fits the status of his character at that time, but his role as a necromancer who has outlived many conflicts.

There have been innumerable posts detailing specifically the problems with the movie, one could not give you a rough bullet point with explanations - I've tried and it ended up being like 3 pages.

TLJ wastes massive potential, doesn't follow the rules of the established universe it is movie 8 in, has laughably bad antagonists, has nothing meaningful to say, has horrible world building to the point where the audience isn't really made aware of the state of the galaxy beyond "FIrst Order is now in control just because despite the loss of the their weapon that destroyed the New Republic capital in the first movie", the fights scenes are LAUGHABLY bad to the point where weapons appear and disappear and characters can be visibly seen missing on purpose or waiting for their queues (Kylo Ren chokes HIMSELF at one point in his fight against the guards because the guard he is fighting completely lets go of the weapon he is supposedly choking him with)...holy shit I'm not even close to done...

"Why do people hate TLJ"

Hank and it isn't really close.

Skyler is not only a large albatross on Walt before he gets the cancer diagnosis, but openly joins him in a criminal conspiracy. If she had fled Walt as soon as she learned about the drugs it might have been closer, but she did the opposite.

Hank can be a bit of a jerk at times, but he actively tries to help pretty much everyone but Jesse, who is the main person he holds a grudge against. Obviously the betrayal of Walt made him go full Captain Ahab, but he was in it for the right reasons and ultimately listened to Jesse on how to take him down. In fact, I'm sure he would have had helped Jesse since he would have realized that he was used the same way Hank was (though not to the same extent).

I don't know why we're pretending that it's impossible for repeated villains to raise the stakes throughout a saga
It isn't impossible, you just can't read because I'm saying that is precisely what they should have done, but didn't do, with Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren is 0-2 against Rey after TLJ (having been outright defeated in TFA and been knocked out allowing her to escape in TLJ). He has no significant wins against anyone competent and spent the entire series up to the third ST movie failing upwards.

Punished_Blinx posted...
Like an entire movie isn't enough to establish an imposing villain out of a pre-existing character? C'mon.
Not when we've seen him fail for an entire series and know he will lose (again) at the conclusion. You understand that the ST is a trilogy and the concluding chapter to 2 other trilogies right? You understand that the audience already knows the bad guy is going down in the third act right? You understand that there will be MINUTES of difference between him being a badass as you say and his defeat right? You understand that he has to be an obstacle to the protagonist and he has been molly whopped by that protagonist on multiple occasions right?

Kylo Ren is a terrible primary antagonist. He has no actual conviction to do anything of note but "set the old world behind us" which might as well be a marketing slogan for Disney getting rid of Legends and is not something tangible that he can actually achieve in the movie. If they had set Kylo Ren up with an achievable goal he might have had something going for him despite being a joke for two movies, but he didn't have one at the conclusion of TLJ. And once again in order for him to have one at the start of the last movie you would need to do what TLJ should have done - give Kylo Ren actual character.

Clearly you will not be convinced on the matter despite your argument having very little merit and consisting of almost no actual analysis on how Kylo Ren fits into the overall story. TLJ put too much on the concluding chapter to both create and end a threat to the protagonists.

Like the big bad of the OT was an old man who was thrown down a pit and they reused him as a reanimated corpse on a table. How is that more threatening than a time skipped Kylo Ren who has spent several years as Sith Lord?
You are just misrepresenting and bullshitting now. The big bad of the OT was Emperor of the galaxy and the guy pulling Vader's strings (a formidable antagonist themselves, who had two movies of buildup before the conclusion), and you are comparing him to an angsty loser who got shit on in both movies he was in. Are you serious? Do you understand what formidable antagonist is? It is not just about fighting, but Kylo Ren doesn't represent anything imposing or interesting. What value he does have is certainly not as the primary antagonist. In fact, he would have been much better as a wild card - which is what they tried and failed to do.

Kylo Ren having a time skipped powerup so he could be someone for maybe 15 minutes of screentime before he is abruptly defeated in the conclusion does not equal a formidable antagonist. You are basically saying "make an entirely new character in a time skip and then show him doing cool stuff he should have been doing in TLJ" which is laughable. They could have just made a completely new character and lost nothing because as already noted, the Kylo Ren of TLJ is an incompetent buffoon who already lost to Rey in TFA and would inevitably lose in the conclusion as well.

An immature man child who doesn't feel like he measures up to his legacy can be incredibly dangerous
Except Kylo Ren already showed both that he was an immature child and he was incredibly not dangerous by getting wrecked by everyone and everything. He was only dangerous to someone who didn't even think he would attack him. Oh no! Real scary.

You can't be dangerous when you are massively incompetent and find a way to lose every battle, particularly when you are going against a protagonist that destroyed you in the first act.

Kylo Ren could have been a good villain but he needed two movies minimum to set up the threat he posed after he got wrecked by Rey in TFA. In fact, when TFA initially released most thought he would show up in TLJ as a badass. It didn't happen.

Moreover, who exactly is he gonna prove himself against after TLJ? Luke died making him look like an idiot, he murdered his dad in cold blood, Rey isn't gonna lose in the third act since she is the protagonist, he murdered his boss while he was yanking it to the darkside... so who is he gonna take on that will give him this credibility as a villain?

Kylo Ren could not have been a good antagonist after TLJ, period. In a trilogy, you can't make a threat credible and resolve that threat in the same fucking movie, and that is exactly what TLJ forced its follow up to do if they went with Kylo Ren as the main antagonist, and that is precisely why they ditched him. He is a joke.

How does this baffle you? By the end of TLJ Kylo Ren was a non-threat. In fact the entire First Order were a bunch of clowns throwing endless hardware at like 12 people.

What exactly are Kylo Ren's achievements at the conclusion of TLJ?

  • Got wrecked by Rey in TFA
  • Killed Snoke while he was too busy nutting to violence
  • Let Rey get away again
  • Got punked by Luke
So he comes back in the final movie and loses again. How exactly do you turn a complete non-threat into an imposing villain when everyone knows they are going down in the last half-hour of the movie? It isn't possible.

Kylo Ren needed to be shown as a threat in TLJ. He should have fucking killed Snoke in a fight, not because Sith can't be underhanded, but because Kylo Ren literally had ZERO wins against anyone competent at that point. You can't have an antagonist lose in the first act if you are not going to build him up in act 2. But that is exactly what Rian did.

And I don't know what Rian was supposed to do with Luke. TFA established that Luke went into hiding after his Jedi Order was destroyed. What good reason could he have possibly gone into hiding while the Galaxy was in crisis?

Also why does RJ get all of the blame for TLJ when JJ was the executive producer?
You don't know what Rian was supposed to do with Luke? He could done any number of a thousand things including making him go search for something that would allow him to bring back the jedi order in a new form or any number of quests. Instead Rian went with "this guy went to die on an island while his friends and family were massacred".

And Rian gets most of the blame because he had complete creative control. The reason Kathleen Kennedy is to blame is because she gave him that control, and the reason JJ does get blame (he is not blameless as you suggest) is because of his shoddy world building and setup that was done in Episode 7. But the reason the blame for him doesn't go crazy is because he never planned on returning and while Episode 7 was a poor reboot with a lot of questions and no answers, it was competent enough for a non-idiot to make something good out of. Rian was not up to the task.

And if you want to talk shit world building, there is none shittier than TLJ which conjures entire fleets out of thin air and declares the First Order lords of the galaxy without explaining how exactly they accomplished that after the conclusion of the previously movie. It has mind boggling bad answers for questions like "Where is the Republic fleet?" (when it even bothers to give critical answers at all), Etc. It is extremely poorly thought out movie in nearly every single category.

I like Maruki as the major antagonist because he really brings out the "free will" problem with the powers he and the phantom thieves possess.

I think if he wasn't human, and rather some godlike entity doing what they think is right for people, he would probably be viewed more favorably. But since he is human, his fundamental problem is that he is using his free will to override others. Even if he is doing so benevolently, most people will have a problem with this. "What gives him the right?" Etc.

There is also the problem that he isn't actually helping people get over their problems, he is simply removing them. This has extreme potential to simply stall human growth in general, as adversity is what pushes us to overcome our weaknesses.

If he was a god, he could simply be thought of as a force of nature, and nature doesn't give a single shit about your "free will". But he is not, he is just a flawed human who experienced tragedy and was presented with power that in his pain he thought could help others, but he overstepped while doing so.

Haven't watched wrestling in like a decade and half but they used to basically have a general idea of what they would do and the outcome and also have certain beats they would hit (like throw guy outside the ring at one point, special move for one guy and then the other, etc), but the wrestlers did have room to improvise and that is part of the spectacle. Also keep in mind that they had to adapt when shit goes wrong as well, like when someone misses their special move or fucks up climbing the ropes.

If you overscript, it often comes out as robotic and clearly scripted to the audience. Part of the goal of wrestling as entertainment is to get the audience to put aside they are watching something that is scripted and it is hard to do when painfully obvious.

Most of the really crazy incidents in wrestling are basically a result of people screwing up or others being like "just throw me".
