Bah, tried to use as many cubes as I could before the Idolmaster collab ends and got sabotaged by a lack of coins of all things.

Anyway, I ended up with another copy of Iori and Chihaya, at least one Ami, and two Mami.

Haruka is the only one I'm going to miss out on it seems, unless I somehow managed to get 7k coins in the next few hours to use my last 10 cubes, and even then there's no guarantee.

No, they wanted me to leave the phonebooks on the inside of the gate, as in they wanted me to stick half my body into where their dogs could have easily reached me, especially when they were only a couple of feet away from the gate and were clearly not fond of my presence.

Tossing them over was the safest thing to do. Hell, wasn't the only house I had to do it at.

This was Texas you see, alot of folks with 3+ dogs and most of them aggressive breeds of some kind. This dude had *six pits copping an attitude*. No thanks.

Admittedly, it's not like I was specifically going for them (or anyone else other than Ritsuko and Azusa), I just wasn't sure that in my haste to get working on the event, I was making things harder for myself because I still hadn't gone through certain steps that unlocked content/mechanics.

Kind of like how I only recently got access to Meowofficers, or how my player rank in general still keeps some things gated (like types of daily raids, or my oil production in general). I know I've expressed frustration with the game earlier, but I'm willing to admit that's partially/entirely my own fault for trying to do level 20-80 content too soon. (And even now this far into the event I still can't clear SP3.)

Hmm....do I have to clear a certain stage in Azur Lane's main campaign before I'm allowed to own any submarines?

I'm curious because I got Chihaya today from my daily builds and found it odd that I've gotten 2/3 of the event's Super Rares from the gacha yet neither of the Elites have shown up, but then Ami & Mami are a ship type/mechanic I haven't "technically" been introduced to yet outside of when I got surprised during SP3's boss.

It would cost a whale $1800 or take a F2P player a year and a half of grinding to max one single hero with this new system... and the game currently has 88 heroes. Even the biggest whales don't have $150,000+ to blow on a single game to max everyone out, and F2P players would literally die of old age and have to pass the game on to their kids and grandkids to have any hope of maxing everyone out.

Fucking Christ, now I feel even worse for ever giving that game money. (It was only $5, but still.)

Finally got my Ritsuko and Azusa. Congrats, Azur Lane, you're stuck with me for now.

Think I'll keep at the collab grind until it ends to see if I can score any dupes of them. Would probably be easier if I could farm the latter stages, but SP3 is still kicking my ass and I can't clear it yet.

I go to it, click around, then leave, and the exclamation point disappears, but it comes back later, and its bugging the crap out of me <_<

Normal events in AL have more stages and higher enemy levels than collab events. A normal event has 12 stages, and enemy levels start at 30 and scale up to 100-110, while collab events have 4 stages, with enemies starting at 15 and scaling up to 80 (not counting SP or EX in either case). Collab events are actually fairly newbie friendly for AL (normal events have gentler difficulty scaling since they have more maps though, and you only have to finish half the maps to get the full event story).

Ship drop chances on the event maps are pretty much the same as in the campaign, there's no real difference in drop chance. Upgrade mats and equipment box drops are also the same, the main difference between event and campaign is just the specific ship and equipment drops.

As a newbie, your best bet is honestly just grinding on SP1 to level up until your fleets can take SP2, then rinse and repeat until you can progress further. Open any boxes that drop for you to get equipment. Don't bother with the campaign for now, even if the XP for SP1 is "bad", you're still farming collab points while you farm XP, and SP1 actually does have a chance to drop some decent "starter" battleships (Nelson and Queen Elizabeth, though Iori is better than either for a new player if you pull her from the gacha).

Just make sure that you aren't falling for the newbie trap of assuming you should kill everything on the map each time. Ideally, you should use one fleet to kill mob fleets until the boss appears, then switch to the other fleet to kill the boss. SP1 and SP2 in this event only require 4 kills before the boss, so for these stages you can make do with just a single fleet if you prefer without that fleet running out of ammo.

Right, guess I'll just keep at SP1 for now.

And yeah, I just go for what I need to kill to make the boss appear, at least until the threat level dies down.

Nah, it's Azur Lane. I just got the Idolmaster SP1 stage to *3 and 100%, only to walk into SP2 and get destroyed before I even got the boss to spawn.

I hear you. Same thing happen when I started AL during the Hololive collab. I had no interest in Hololive at the time, but expecting someone just starting out to have lv 80 fleets for an event that most likely will never repeat sucks. Be worse for people, like you, who start because of the collab.

It wouldn't be as bad if the event stage I *can* beat at least gave decent XP and common ship drops so I can keep up while farming collab points. But nope, they want me to go back into the main campaign to level up/get enhance materials, which burns through morale and oil to the point that I'm getting crap all on actual collab points outside of the daily and one-off missions. Can't even start properly working on a second fleet because I'm having to dump everything into the first one.

It's not like I'm trying to get all the characters or dupes to fully limit break them, I just want Ritsuko and Azusa, I'm just trying to get the pity copies from reaching a certain milestone, and even that seems difficult. To top it off, I only recently found out that Azur Lane is awful about collab reruns, so this might literally be my only chance, and all the effort I've made so far could end up for nothing.

Suffice to say, Azur Lane has not made the best first impression. I finally give the game a chance after all these years of being luke-warm about it, accepting the fact that it could prove me wrong for dismissing it for so long, and it almost feels like it's acting like a petty, vindictive brat because I started late.

Which is terribly ironic that 2021 was already the year of newly released games not ending well, but now I have to be careful about "new" established ones too.
