Yeah chests no longer have message strings attached to them.

CS2 *sort of* brings them back with their special monster chests though.

Grinding isn't necessary in any of the games, not even in Hard mode. I've never played above Hard but from my experience, your gear and orbment setups matter WAY more than levels do.

And yes, the CS arc is very slow starting off.

i'll say this much tho keep in mind CS 3 and 4 were published by NIS while 1&2 were xseed so the latter 2 are kinda uh.....sporadic w/ voice acting like scenes having 2 voiced lines rest unvoiced or major NPCs voiced and ur party isn't or repeatedly switching between voice and not... in english anyway

feels like NIS was lazy as hell.. mind i'm aware the original versions of 1&2 had alot less voice acting too especially for rean

I don't believe NISA had anything to do with the random sporadic voiced lines. Those were all in the Japanese originals iirc, including in CS1 and 2.

I just want to say I'm trudging through Kuro 2 and if we're talking sheer length, this game seems long as shit. I thought Reverie was long, but I'm almost certain I'll eclipse 100 hours in this game.

Arianrhod isn't as intimidating as she seems. She's very tanky but she's not *that* difficult.

That fucking time limit. Everyone says it's a non issue, but I was one dungeon away from the final boss and ran out of time. Sure NG+ still unlocks but it doesn't change the fact that I have to start the entire game over from scratch (only your currently equipped gear and money carry over, on top of that). The only other game I've played with a time limit (Majora's Mask) is a lot more manageable and you can reset it at any time.

This game? Every fucking thing you do advances the timer. I'm sure even a fart would advance it by a week. Hard to really get invested in a game when you can't even SYNTHESIZE ITEMS or even walk on the world map without advancing the timer several days at a time. Who in their right mind thought it was a good idea to make you start all over simply because you weren't as fast as the game wants you to be? From what I've heard, the time limit is still there even for postgame stuff, which makes no damn sense at all.

Great game, seriously held back by the damn time limit. Rant over.

You know what that's a good point I never did ask this, in Kai how did they handle Gohan super saiyan 2? Does it have the epicly haunting song or is it just yelling without music to pump you up?

I don't remember exactly but before the big "click", it's just silence.

Context: there's a room in this trailer that has water leaking from under the wall, so I texted him to see when he could show up. He doesn't respond to my text until 9:30 AM the next morning, gets here a bit after 10, and tries calling me three times. I had no idea he was coming, no way of knowing that, and I certainly had no reason to think I need to keep my ringer on (I get spam calls and shit, so I keep my phone on vibrate while I'm sleeping).

Fast forward to yesterday and I can't get in touch with him, until he eventually texts back that he's "been really busy". Then he later tells me "I made time for you the other day and you wouldn't answer the door".

I'm pretty socially awkward but I have no idea why he's pinning this on me. Like am I just expected to anticipate him showing up because I simply asked him when he could do so, despite not getting a response until the next morning? Frustrating, because I REALLY don't want to pay these insane dispatch fees other plumbing companies keep asking for.

hltb is saying main with sidequests is around 50 hours which is way more reasonable. aint nobody getting through that in 30 unless they avoid literally everything but the main story

I don't think FFIX even has that many side quests, much less enough to pad the game out for 50 hours.

Seems like this game is made for those that really loved Mario RPG and those who missed out on it. I got about 75% of the way through so I might pick it up when it hits $40 in a year.

My first playthrough of FF9 was 25 hours and this was most optional stuff except Ozma because I couldn't be bothered with Chocobo H&C.

Chocobo H&C is way more tolerable on modern versions since you can increase your speed, and iirc it doesn't affect the minigame timer.

FFIX is nowhere near that long. What the hell do you guys do, leave the game running? Even with 100%, it shouldn't take more than 30 hours. The early FF games are way shorter than people give them credit for. Do you realize how long 60 hours actually is in a game? If you spend more than half of that just beating the game, you're doing something horribly wrong.

Edit: I may be exaggerating slightly but yeah, 60 and especially 80 hours is *way* overshooting it. Even the Trails games, as big as they are, don't usually eclipse 70 or 80 hours and that's with side quests and talking to NPCs.

The entire chapter is the final dungeon unlike FC's, so yeah.

In no particular order: Goku's first transformation into SSJ, pretty much the entirety of the King Piccolo arc, Gohan vs Cell, most of the Namek arc, Goku's origins (basically the beginning of Z), etc

To answer your other question, I'm gonna watch Kai, and possibly even Super and all the movies, and maybe GT as well.

She has only seen bits and pieces of Z. I haven't seen the original series in well over a decade, either. I can't wait to see her reaction to certain events; it's like I'm vicariously reliving my childhood through her.

Her thoughts so far? I don't know yet, we're only 8 episodes in. But this should be a fun ride.
