She's pretty cute and seems pretty smart and motivated with that bit about going for a masters. Shame about the racism, but hopefully that will work out well.

Nice to see the Orthogonal series get some love. Pretty much everything I've read by Greg Egan has been solid. This particular universe was fun in that he took an equation, turned a - into a +, and then extrapolated the resulting consequences in terms of how light and matter functioned and made a trilogy out of it.

Hmm...let's go with a classic this time....Flatland

So I gave Darwin's Game a whirl. I'm a sucker for setups like this where people fight/talk/plan and everyone has one weird trick each. This particular one does it adequately with some pretty ace sound design. Plot and characters are all pretty meh, but the selling point is the entertainment value in watching them all mix around together.

I liked it enough to check out the manga, which has far exceeded my expectations. Generally I find a lot of manga hard to read, but this one's pretty easy on the eyes...there seems to be loads of attention to details and even action seems to flow smoothly.

I keep getting massive amounts of deja vu with this island event arc though...I feel like I've seen a ton of these plot beats in another anime/manga but nothing comes to mind. The only thing I can think of is maybe I watched some video concerning some aspect of the plot or something.

Overall, pretty solid popcorn anime/manga experience.

Depends on the kind of zombie, what weapons I have access to, how viable fleeing is, and how borked the rest of the world already is.

But assuming I had a shotgun and it was known that a bite would definitely turn them into a zombie without any recourse for a cure, then it probably would make more sense to shoot both the zombie and them before they could do the same to me. There would be less suffering and body/mind alteration on their end too.

Clearly rpgs are actually a metroidvania subset.

You have to obtain powerups (stats/weapon upgrades) to make progress. Exploration is encouraged through dungeon chests and bs locked door puzzles. There is lots of backtracking to find all of the secrets. Maps help you figure out where the next location you need to go is. Different places have different music.

Yessir, there's no doubt that rpgs really did borrow a lot from metroidvanias, even before metroidvanias existed. How they did so remains a closely guarded trade secret.

What you want is a PC with blast processing. The more LEDs you put in it, the higher your FPS will be. Make sure that your power supply is able to handle the wattage your gaming will demand. Remember to always build up a static charge when installing new components, as this will help keep new electrons from getting trapped in the system.

Finally got around to watching that Dr. Stone show people have been going on about. A bit annoyingly light at times, but it's heart's always been in the right place. Very weird seeing science like shonen powerups. As Goku is to martial arts, Senku is to science. The show makes me believe that if he wanted to, he could build a stone age time machine and somehow be the instigator of the plot.

Last few episodes had me thinking about how they were possibly going to 1. finish the thing they were going to make and 2. use the thing for what they wanted to use it for.

Then the last episode happened and it could not have been a more beautiful of a way to wrap the season up.

Guess I'll have to check out the manga now XD

I know that a lot of organic chemicals haven't been properly mapped. When food chemists go to make flavors, they isolate one or two out of thousands that particularly stand out. So even if every atom could be known, it wouldn't really tell you much. Far easier to make educated guesses and arrive at suitable approximations through trial and error....I've seen plenty of recipes touting similarities to these items.

I'm no master with donjon, but it does have considerable settings that can be tweaked that can mitigate a lot of the nonsense aspects to the dungeon being generated. The enemy encounters I've seen it spawn are a little wonky to be sure, but any competent DM could substitute them for more appropriate encounters (or use other tools that are better at encounter building). But I do agree, hand crafting will win out any day of the week, it is just a matter of how much time an aspiring DM has to devote to crafting adventures for the party. The rest of the site has a number of other generators too, although none I'd particularly rave about.

You might also find the dnd reddit's resource list useful. There are a number of character sheets/encounter builders/loot generation/etc that could potentially streamline some aspects of the DM's job. I'd never depend on them wholesale, but sometimes you're just not able to give it 100% but still need to run a session.

I wish I could recommend myth-weavers more...but they really bummed me when they had a huge server issue that rolled things back a ton leading to a massive loss of character data. They do now enable saving of sheets, but an editable pdf or dnd beyond might easily be superior options depending on the kinds of characters being made.

There are tools that exist that can automatically generate cities (watabou) or dungeons (donjon) or even campaign worlds (azgaar)...I've seen a lot of different kinds of things recommended. A lot of it will be personal preference based, but if nothing else these kinds of procedurally generated content can serve to spark inspiration.
