Places clothes are made are not known for good hygiene, as they are not a foodstuff so nobody cares if there are some residual chemicals. That plus the combined hygiene of anyone else who had previously tried that article of clothing on makes washing an easy choice.

It'd have to be an emergency situation for me to consider otherwise.

Both YYH and HxH will be well worth your time. I'd personally have started with YYH, but that will still be there when you're done with HxH and want more.

Law of Ueki's not too bad either, but definitely a distant third. It had some really cool moments that still make me grin when I think about them, but also suffers from some pretty meh plot points.

Ursa meaning bear is a telling clue that perhaps they are not, in fact, dongs.

Connecting the dots to make dicks almost certainly happened though, as TV hadn't been invented and humanity loves nothing if not dicking around.

I could never get into FFT back in the day, despite liking the genre quite a bit. Disgaea 1 and 2, however, I racked up a solid playtime on. I've most recently bought Disgaea 5 on PC and my experience with it so far suggests it will be a good timesink too.

If you have never played any Disgaea game before, the first one is almost certainly the best starting point, and it recently had a remake for ps4/switch too.

Anagram, out of context
"Do non-Western works ever try to appeal to the West by including King Arthur? Because if so, I want to see that."
"The first is that King Arthur is a girl...Im sorry, this series is everything I dislike."

From dipping my toe into the Fate series, I understand that the first game is good the series/movies of the game are good, but everything else is a pile of excessive fanwankery. But if it isn't your cup of tea, you're not really missing much either. It's kinda up there with Jojo, you either dig it, or it's whatever. You also probably wouldn't believe me if I told you just how many versions of Saber there are, because it is unreal. Kingdom Hearts makes more sense than there being so many versions of a female king arthur.

As far as deliberately appealing to western mythology goes, nothing really comes to mind except maybe that one sonic game.

Speaking of sonic...

Mobius (Sonic series)

So greed, lust, gluttony, or the painful realization that you are single and will probably remain so until invisible little microbes decide to chill.

Tough choice. 1 is kinda nice until it stops being nice...the ever-present fear of being murdered tarnishes what could otherwise be a nice meditative experience. 2 is about the same with a huge negative offset some by the upside, but then how much of an upside is it realistically? Could even the most desirable being imaginable remain such in constant cramped companionship? It wouldn't be hard to start believing the event was an extreme form of isolation based trauma too. 3 is a big nope. meesa not gonna explain why. 4 is the most tame of the options but just phrasing it like everyone has a significant other is a big punch to the gut :'(

So let's hack this. To start we pick option 2. Knowing the downsides of this option, the most sexually desirable person would naturally be someone who can grant me access to parallel realities via a portal gun or some other method. Legally we may not be able to leave, but nothing in the rules said we couldn't illegally leave! We then portal over to a universe much like this one except the bit about the person stopping existing after the 30 days are up and also option 2 offers a free mansion (sans movie) and a billion dollars after the time is up.

Now that you have found the final puzzle piece, the true puzzle can begin. Align your puzzle to the cardinal directions and then rotate the completed puzzle until it is facing true magnetic north. Wait until sunrise and just as the first rays of the sun are striking the puzzle, light the sweater the final piece was hiding under on fire and toss it onto the completed puzzle. Collect the smoke and ashes into an appropriate vessel and mix them with some water. Take this potion into a dark room with a mirror (the taller and wider the better) and splash the contents onto the mirror. This will temporarily open a portal to the gnome's secret dimension of lost items. Feel free to take whatever you find there, the gnomes know they can always just take it back if they really want to. While you are there, consider trying the secret bonus puzzle made up of puzzle pieces everyone else lost.

SovietOmega
04/30/20 3:18:17 AM
#7
If a hot person dies, the average person has an ever so slight bump in total hotness, which might just give them a rounding error in their favor for their next date. If an ugly person dies, however, the reverse is true...therefore the ugly person dying must be viewed as sadder if numerical ratings are to have any significant meaning.

If the above holds true, then it logically follows that the best way to get a date is to murder all the beautiful people until you are the most attractive by default. Society will need to be restructured around this ideal, and you will have to spend the rest of your life fighting off ugly people, but it is a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.

So after Darwin's Game, I was still in a survival game mood and finally got around to checking out Mirai Nikki. I gotta say, I went in knowing one character was the postergirl for yandere, so I was expecting a certain level of violence. What I didn't expect was all the comedic elements. Some of it is because watching this in 2020 with them using flip phones, I struggle to take it seriously despite knowing when the manga came out it they were appropriate tech. Then there's everything Mur Mur does...post credit scenes are all pretty amazing. And then you get the dark humor like episode 17 being called 'family discount' and what happens to yuki's mom. Followed up by next episode yuki's crush looking suspiciously similar to his mom.

I'm still in the middle of episode 18, but it's been an interesting ride so far.

Idk, i'm not a ring sword expert, I just thought this one looked cool enough to be talked about, so on that front it was mission accomplished.

also, re:Bat'leth even Star Trek nerds generally accept that it is a highly impractical weapon. Melee combat has never been one of Trek's selling points, so it's never been a big issue.

Hang on, before we high five, I'm going to need you to put on these gloves and a mask.

No...that's still too unsafe. How about you take a picture of your hand held high, and I do the same, then we can print them out and press them against each other simultaneously then burn the pages afterward, just to be safe.

Although that is a lot of work. Maybe we can rent a space and fill it with robotic arms with realistic hands and start a business whereby people can sign up to deliver virtual high fives to a willing participant. They could have cameras on them and be coded to accept virtual reality tactile feedback. Slap a green screen in every arm pair cubicle and the virtual high five could be projected across any type of scene imaginable. We'd only need like, a few million in kickstarter money too. As a stretch goal, we could set up handshaking routines too, for the corporate world. This'll be the next big thing guaranteed!

https://www.hanbonforge.com/BLOG/What-is-the-function-of-the-rings-on-broadswords

Rings in a broadsword are actually super useful. They offer a little extra oomph with gravity/inertia, can aid in intimidation/distraction with the sound, and should the sword get stuck they can offer extra purchase to extract it.

Another source suggests that the sound of the rings can be useful for training purposes as you can literally hear the quality of the strike you make.

Tried to give Fire Force a go, as I was in the mood for good animated fight scenes. Sadly, that's about all the show has going for it. I had to call it quits after a baddie's personality did a 180 after a minute of talk and one moderate punch. Imagine if Yugi beat Kaiba in a duel and then Kaiba started acting like Joey and slobbering over Yugi. Even bad fanfiction would pause before stooping so low. That, and while the universe had an interesting premise, I didn't feel like it would remain interesting for the time the series wanted me to invest. If I get in the mood for fire-based action again, I'll just give Promare another watch.

We have not witnessed Church Lady moving at high speeds, so it is likely that Church Lady can move so fast that our eyes perceive a relative lack of motion. A simple feet for any speedster to accomplish.

Luffy, on the other hand, has failed to circumnavigate the globe and had been traveling for a number of years now. He's had literal decades worth of episodes to find One Piece but has failed to do so. The real treasure being the friends found along the way sounds an awful lot like what a slowpoke would say to divert attention away from their slowness.

What is this?
Basically power levels if they were steeped in daoism. You have a number of different tiers which can be broken up into different stages which themselves might be broken down numerically. To give an example, at the start of the book the very first part of cultivation is the 'qi condensation' stage which is known in the world to have 9 levels. You're absorbing qi from the world and condensing it internally. In this stage you learn to fly and don't need to eat/drink. Think of a level 20 dnd monk or late dragonball/early dbz. That's the starting point.

From there, you take the qi inside you and start forming dao pillars with it in the Foundation Establishment stage. Guess how many you can form? That's right, nine! Also it matters if your pillars are shattered/fractured/flawless/perfect as to how powerful you actually are.

Makes perfect sense? Good, because next is the Core Formation stage where you melt your pillars that are inside you and form a core, but what color core you form matters.

I could go on, but there are several stages past this, and we haven't even gotten past mortal cultivation. Essentially you manipulate qi inside you to do things, often through various meditation techniques or extensive use of pills (alchemy is a valuable skill in this world, for every stage of cultivation there's an assortment of pills that can help if one has enough spirit stones). As you get higher up the ranks, your lifespan gets increased too. It is not uncommon to hear about old sect leaders being secluded in meditation for centuries.

Ultimately, it is a way for the author to go "look at this main character, he is fighting somebody that is in the late stage of x while he is still in the early stage of x!" but it also helps a lot with worldbuilding, as breaking into each higher stage raises the status of the main character and forces him to deal with greater threats in kind. Like how a low level dnd party might help find a lost cow for a village, but by the end of their adventure they're dunking on gods and mythological creatures like nothing. That's kinda what this story does.

1600 chapters is pretty tame for a lot of the xianxia novels I've seen out there (there is some padding that goes on with these web novels for financial reasons...even the good ones suffer some from it). But you're right, it is a pretty confusing experience. You see so many names like 'Meng Hao' or 'Chu Yuyan' that they all kinda start feeling normal. Helping it immensely is the translation by Deathblade who makes it feel almost like an ancient storybook. It's definitely not for everyone, but I enjoyed my time with it. It scales almost in a logarithmic fashion, kind of if DBZ and Gurren Lagann had a baby except instead of giant mechs and power levels it's really big chinese people and cultivation levels.

Also Meng Hao could probably beat superman.

Anyway...because my Shadowrun game got postponed today....The Sixth World (Shadowrun)
