I'm gonna guess the ep's rating saw a dramatic downturn sometime after 2017, once internet nerds retroactively became aware of who directed it. It was always hated but I'm sure it got worse. | Southernfatman 04/22/24 3:02:38 PM #12 | It's great. Both explores Walt's and Jesse's charactes and is hilarious. I love the dumb slapstick. It was done right without being too much. Besides, Walter was always funny in a goofy way with some of his actions and the show had comedy before.

| Southernfatman 04/22/24 8:27:58 AM #37 | Yeah, it's similar, but different. There will be lots of references and callbacks to the show, as you'll see. I love both and it's hard to say one is better than the other. They sort of go hand in hand with each other.

I'm watching it again and one of the weird things I've noticed about the early ones is nearly every non-white character has an accent, even though I've seen the actors in other stuff where they don't. That sort of thing goes on to the end. I noticed it when watching the final season. It's a bit off putting, especially when Larry starts imitating them and doing the broken English thing. Still love the show, but it's....yeah. [LFAQs-redacted-quote] The whole clip is great, but Larry scoffing and going "He's not my best friend" is the cherry on top. Of course he's not solely to blame for Phil Hartman's death, he definitely contributed to it. Things could have been different without him getting her back on coke.
