That's actually the plan, which GF confirmed themselves a while back.

The problem is, you don't know how long it will be until a game with your favorite Pokemon available in it is released, and it could even take over a decade. Meanwhile, you're paying the yearly fee to keep your Pokemon in Home, because eventually Bank will be taken offline, forever stranding any Pokemonyou have in the DS and 3DS games to those games.

A lot of people don't remember this, but Ruby and Sapphire was seen as the start of Pokemon's decline when they came out. Largely due to the lack of compatibility with GSC. And Game Freak at least had plans to make the old pokemon available there through FRLG.

I remember. That was also the time when Pokemon's popularity hit an all-time low, likely because all the kids who liked Gen 1 and maybe Gen 2 were entering high school, and felt that liking kiddy things like Pokemon made you lame. Though the loss of so many old Pokemon with RuSa didn't help, either.

But it's probably an ego thing or not wanting to do business with someone else kinda thing and that sucks.

It's almost assuredly about the violence, not the "censorship".

Most companies do not want to see their characters maimed and murdered in gory fashions.

Capcom is otherwise fine with crossovers; after all, they have worked with Marvel, SNK, SEGA, Namco, Nintendo, and Tatsunoko.

I used a 360 controller attached to my PC and I encountered next to no issues

Only problem was Super Mario Sunshine but with a bit of tinkering it ended up being fine.

Yeah, Sunshine was what came to mind with that, since how hard you held down the should buttons affected how far Mario sprayed his water.

I'm not sure what workaround could be found for that for Switch controllers on the Switch itself.

If the Pokemon is not in the regional Pokedex, then it cannot be transferred, period.

I think the bigger issue with GCN titles on Switch is the fact that a number of GCN games made use of the controller's analog shoulder buttons, whereas the Switch's controllers have digital shoulder buttons.

Of course, there's an adapter for GCN controllers, but that assumes that many Switch owners still have them lying around in working order. (And the new ones they did release were in a limited supply, I believe, and were primarily intended for Smash.)

This is true. Smash 64 lagged quite a bit, and its opening move even had some display issues and eventually got out of sync with the sound/music.

Yep.

In Sword/Shield, you can only have 400 Pokemon in it, period. Unlike with the original Ruby/Sapphire which also had a similar lockout, albeit due to hardware issues, the missing Pokemon are flatout not programmed in the game.

This means that a game on a home console has less available Pokemon than games that were released on the DS (which had 493 in Gen 4, and 649 in Gen 5), and just barely more available on all of the games on GBA (386 in Gen 3). In fact, the Gen 7 games on 3DS had access to twice as many Pokemon than there are in Sword/Shield, including multiple variations of certain Pokemon.

He likely just personally does not like her, probably got his ass kicked too many times by her, and wanted to focus on all the other stuff he showed love for.

No, he outright said in the Japanese version that CERO would have bumped up the rating if she was included, and he would have obviously included her in her most iconic appearance if he was able it.

Sakurai isn't petty enough to exclude a character because he lost to them a bunch of times.

-Over half of all previous Pokemon are completely unusable in Sword/Shield.
-The game itself looks very outdated on a console that delivered games like Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade 2, FE Three Houses, and Dragon Quest XI S.
-Poor animations, reusing the exact same ones from the 3DS titles even for humans.
-Game lacks content, even compared to the DS entries, which includes its very poor postgame (again, falling far short of the DS games in that regard).
-There's no guarantee when any missing Pokemon will be usable in a game again, so you're basically paying a hostage fee with Pokemon Home for potentially years until you can use a particular Pokemon again (and maybe even only for that game).

The series has been in a downward spiral for a while now, and the "Dexit" situation was the straw that broke the camel's back.

Today we have some news to share with you about Game Freak, whose latest game Pokemon Sword and Shield is launching next Friday.

During the 277th episode of WayPoint Radio, WayPoints Austin Walker made a very interesting claim about whats going on at Game Freak. He told the audience that the morale of Game Freak employees is at an all time low, though he didnt elaborate the reason why.

If what Walker said was true, this would mean that employees at the studio are aware of the backlash of cutting Pokemon. However, its unclear whether employees at Game Freak had expected the backlash to happen before the decision was announced in June.

Not just from Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters, but from other SNK series as well (such as Samurai Shodown, Athena, and Metal Slug). And 15 of them are new remixes.

Meanwhile, Square can't give more than 2 for Final Fantasy; or 8 (two per game for each of the Heroes) for Dragon Quest, all in their inferior MIDI versions. Granted, the latter has more to do with butthole Sugiyama, but still.

Except compared to the previously-mentioned games, Pokemon just looks lame in comparison, both in looks, scope, and ambition. It can keep its core gameplay, but it needs to do much more than it is right now. I mean, just compare how ambitious both Mario Odyssey and BotW are, and compare it to Sword/Shield, and SS just comes up short.

Both Pokemon and the Switch are capable of much more than what Game Freak is giving us; the Pokemon IP has tons of untapped potential, but the studio actually in charge of it is unwilling and/or unable to tap into it.

If we're getting such a neutered game compared to its contemporaries on the Switch, they should have at least just let us have all of the Pokemon, especially seeing how the models are already future-proofed. It wouldn't have addresses the other issues with the game, but at least we could still have ALL of them on the big screen again.

There's a reason why Sword/Shield is getting so much vitriol thrown at it, and not all of it is petty hate.

When you have a console with games that pushed the envelope of their respective series and still came out well-loved (Mario Odyssey, BotW, FE Three Houses) or otherwise look amazing and have tons of content in them (Xenoblade 2, Dragon Quest XI S), or even managed to get games thought of as impossible to run and still pack in tons of content (Skyrim, The Witcher 3), then Sword/Shield definitely comes up lacking on all fronts.

Especially when you consider that we're paying $20 more for a game that barely even has half of the number of Pokemon that were available in the most recent 3DS mainline title, whereas the game itself is barely even a step above the ones found on the 3DS, with a postgame even more lacking than the DS titles and Emerald.
