Fun fact: During development of Ruby/Sapphire, Game Freak did consider increasing the number of Moves a Pokemon could have at once, but ultimately decided against it. I also remember speculation back then that RuSa would allow Pokemon to have three Types, because screenshots of the status screen showed that there was just enough space for a third Type to be listed alongside the other two. Much of the popularity comes from the lead actor of the show, with their unique and captivating interpretation of the character going a very long way towards endearing the show--and most of all, his character--into the hearts of fans. You enjoy working on the show, and still have more stories to tell with the world and characters. However, between seasons, the actor makes a revelation: They have found Jesus and have become a born-again Christian. This normally would not be a problem... except now they are demanding that the show to be retooled to focus on teaching Christian morals, having now acquired a dislike of much of the subject matter that the show had depicted in the past, and no longer wants the show to remain secular and "sinful". They will only return if you agree to their changes; otherwise, they will walk and use the millions that they earned on the show so far to pursue their own projects. However, at this point, they ARE the show, and losing them will quickly tank the show's popularity, even if the other actors do their best to try to keep things afloat. At the same time, making their requested changes to keep them onboard presents a hard paradigm shift for the show and thus risks turning off a good portion of your audience, who would not appreciate being preached to about religious morality. The network executives are aware of this, and are also at a loss of what to do.
