I think the issues with MOTHER 3 were:

1. It released in Japan on the GBA in 2006, two years after the DS hit the market. The series is already niche as it is, so attempting a release like that on a platform way past its prime would have been foolish for anything except Mario or Pokemon.
2. As mentioned, the series is pretty niche, especially outside of Japan back then. EarthBound flopped in the US (no thanks to NoA's shoddy marketing, but still), and didn't even release in Europe until 2013, so even with the popularity boost the series got with Smash, NoA and/or NCL probably didn't think it was worth the hassle, especially since, with the translation/localization needed, it may not have hit the Western markets until 2007.
3. Some of the content may have been deemed offensive for Western audiences. Stuff like the scene where Lucas learns how to use PSI, and the part where the party gets high on island mushrooms. Not helped by the fact that two party members (Lucas and Kumatora) are children.
4. There may be legal issues with the music used, especially the tracks sampled from existing sources.

Depends on the area. Lots of young millennials are actually moving in and buying property because of the lowish values. My area, despite having some blight that's gradually being removed, isn't all that bad. Plus, I'm pretty close to downtown, too, so that helps.

Downtown is especially seeing a resurgence in the last few years, with businesses and such coming in and other aesthetics being done to liven things up.

In both gameplay and presentation.

-Digital Devil Saga had the gameplay, but had more of a focus on the narrative and characters, with preselected party members.

-Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha went in an Action RPG direction.

-Persona 3, 4, and 5 had premade party members (and a different battle system), and only the main character(s) can change their Persona, while the other party members are stuck with their own Persona (with them evolving depending on your bonds with them).

-Devil Survivor is a hybrid Turn-based/Strategy RPG series almost completely done with 2D sprites.

-Strange Journey took things way back to the old school in both gameplay mechanics and presentation, despite originally intending to be Shin Megami Tensei IV (then again, you could only do so much with the DS vs. the PS2).

-The actual Shin Megami Tensei IV had the gameplay and 3D environments, but used 2D sprites and a first-person view for the battles and most cutscenes; a "best-of-both-worlds" thing if any. Apocalypse continued this.

No doubt that SMTV--being on a console like Switch--should finally bring back the style of Nocturne that's been missing for a long time. Hopefully they don't also go into the FRIENDSHIP direction that they went in with SMT4 Apocalypse.

...He will be so impressed by your strength that he joins you in battle against the final boss, where he singlehandedly curbstomps said final boss without taking a single scratch of damage himself.

Pretty hilarious way to handle the fact that most bonus bosses are far stronger than the actual final boss, and if you can take down the bonus boss, then the final boss should be a cakewalk.
