You missed the point to begin with. If a government organization is accepting what ultimately amount to bribes, then they don't deserve to exist. That means, at that point, they now have a bias which, in theory, a government funded organization should not have. Not only do they receive the cash flow from allowing their bullshit junkmail to get to my mailbox, but they have the government backing that literally prevents them from failing. So even if I wanted to 'take my business elsewhere' it wouldn't matter. They're still going to be getting my dollar. Either through junk mail or from my taxes if the junk mail were to run dry.

To make matters worse, when I throw that junk mail away, guess who has to take care of it? Also the government. We're spending some 550 million a year across the country just getting rid of that bullshit. You would think this would be part of Cortez' green new deal to try and get rid of this trash and stop fucking up 100s of millions of trees and generating millions of pounds of trash.

Ultimately, I can more easily vote with my dollar than I can vote for a revision to the post office. The postmaster general is pretty much the last on the list of anyone's list when they vote so that aint happening. And when it comes down to it, I've never had an experience with the post office where I've thought, "Boy they really went the extra mile".

Survival games aren't about the story, there doesn't even need to be one.
And the Cyclops enables the player to go further and deeper than ever before. Unless you're in a rush to reach the end doing as little as possible, the Cyclops marks the halfway point.

Its really not an over exaggeration. Once you get the cyclops, you don't get anything else. The point of survival games is constant improvement and exploration. The cyclops is the end of that cycle. The intent of the cyclops is to enable you to reach the end point of the game, and in your parlance, the deepest part of the game. Even more so, it's very clear they spent the majority of their time on the earlier parts of the story line and early exploration. That part is fairly solid. But it's not long before it just becomes a race to the literal bottom.

I don't hate the game. I just think its vastly overrated for what it is. Over my various playthroughs since I bought it in early access years ago, I've put in 56 hours and have all the achievements. It's really very similar to No Man's Sky. Feels like a lot of content upfront, but you quickly realize that after the first few hours you're just doing a lot of repetition.

Evidently you haven't been to the Lost River. It goes down and down and connects to like 7 different biomes.

I've actually been playing this game over the week and I can definitely say it's my new favorite survival game. Once you get the Cyclops built it's a game changer.

Evidently I have because I've played through the game, been to all the biomes, and reached the ending.

Once you get the Cyclops thats literally the end of the game. There's no more progression to be had save for the story which is extremely simplistic.

No, I don't believe that's what happened. From the articles I read, it sounded as though they witnessed him prowling around the neighborhood and knew him from past experiences. But I have no idea if that's true or not. None of us do. That's what the court system is for.

The facts absolutely do change the situation. A man being shot for jogging is an extremely different situation than a man being shot after burglarizing a home. These men allege they were performing a citizens arrest. Whether or not you agree with the law, that's a legal action. But its up to the courts to decide whether or not they were justified in their actions that resulted in the death of the victim.

Without a warrant, you may arrest anyone who commits a mis-demeanor or a felony in your presence or with your immediate knowledge. A citizen's arrest occurs when a citizen prevents a suspect from leaving a scene. Citizen's arrest most often happens in cases like shoplifting, when the store's manager detains the suspected offender.

When making a citizen's arrest, a person may not use more force than is reasonable to make the arrest. Deadly force is limited to self-defense or to instances in which such force is necessary to prevent certain felonies.

If what they did can be proven to be self defense, then they are technically legally justified.

I didn't say they were worthy of death sentences. I'm explaining the facts that seem to get lost in the narrative. There's a problem in this country where we refuse to look at the facts before we make judgements. It happens every day and I'm tired of it. Every high profile case over the past 10 years has fallen under this, "Let's make snap judgements now and ignore the facts later" and it's maddening.

Every single situation in society deals with a totality of circumstances that are flat out ignored in service of a cause. I find it atrocious that a man was killed because a couple of assholes couldn't keep their dick in their pants, but on the other hand, if their homes and their neighbors homes are being burglarized/robbed regularly and up until that point the police had done nothing to assuage the problem, is it really that surprising that they might be convinced to act themselves?

There are allegedly other videos of the incident that haven't been released yet. I'll be curious to see if/when those are released if any additional information comes to light.

I'm not defending these guys because what they're doing appears to be wrong, but lets level set on a couple of things here.

The man who appeared to be jogging was 12 miles from home. That's less 'jogging' and more 'marathoning'.

He also, allegedly, had been burglarizing the neighborhood lately and had allegedly been caught on camera doing so.

Allegedly again on the day of the killing, he was burglarizing a jobsite prior to the video which sparked this whole thing.

I would also note I find his actions a bit strange in the initial parts of the video. The so-called rednecks are in the middle of the street with guns, apparently yelling at him to stop, and he just keeps running straight at them. Then at one point he actively moves to engage with the one dude on the ground. I'm curious to why he didn't just run in the other direction, or literally any direction but straight at them. I'm not implying this means he had ill intent, but I find it strange given the circumstances.

This is really just another Trayvon situation. Guys engaging with someone when they really should have just sat back and let the police figure it out. Had they not tried to stop him, this would have been avoided. But the fact that the guy appears to grab for the old mans gun when he gets shot means hes very likely going to get off on self defense regardless of the circumstances.

Yeah, definitely go and shoot whatever it is you're looking at before you buy. Personally I would also recommend going relatively cheap on your first purchase which would be less than $500. You don't have to go for something uber expensive for just a home defense purchase.

If it's just for leaving at the house, I would also recommend something that ISN'T a sub compact unless a sub compact fits your hands better. The only real reason to getting a sub compact is carry-ability, otherwise they're a bit of a chore to deal with. They're smaller and generally less comfortable to shoot, they have a greatly diminished round capacity, and they with less weight and a shorter barrel, they often have more recoil and are just generally harder to aim with.

It sounds like you're already looking into it, but a safety course is a good thing. Alternatively you can just take someone with you to a range who knows what they're doing that can run you through the basics.

That being said, my personal recommendation for a first gun is the Canik TP9SA. It's a 9mm full sized handgun with a double stack magazine (meaning it can hold 18 rounds). It's extremely cheap. Something like 250 bucks for the gun, a holster, two 18 round magazines, a cleaning brush, trigger lock, and a case. Its very easy to shoot and shoots quite reliably. It also has a striker indicator which tells you when its ready to fire/tells you that its 'cocked' and it has a decocker which basically releases the striker without firing a round (if there's one in the chamber).

But really all that matters is whether or not you like shooting it. If you don't like shooting it, you're never going to shoot it and its just going to sit on a shelf gathering dust. Go to a range and ask the pros for recommendations for first time buyers and home defense. They'll give you a selection of guns to try out and then you can make your choice from there.
