It worked great in Japan, but kind of floundered elsewhere. You basically had to go to places with large gatherings like colleges and conventions to really get the most of it in the U.. I know they also made those Hotspots but that didn't come in until like mid-way through the 3DS' lifetime and now its dying out so Streetpass has basically become defunct.

Never had this happen. I can't even bring myself to play for more than 4-5 hours at a time unless the game is really engrossing me. That said, there are a couple of games I've pulled all-nighters with. I did a full 100% run-through of the first Zone of the Enders in a single night, but that game's so short it's not an accomplishment to do that.

Also, I did pull a near 24-hour session with the first Grandia, but that's when I was really young and the only other option was to fall asleep on my friend's floor so I just chose to stay up.

3 is my favorite from a story/character standpoint. The only difference is the protagonist dies which would have some weight if they didn't just copy it with the next 2 but they live. Even 5 was about to kill off another character but "SIKE I'm fine because fuck writing". Both 4 and 5 could have easily ended after you take down Adachi/whoever the other one was and it would have been 5x better than rehashing the same ending

I can agree with this.

Same here. Would've cut down a whole lot on the cringiness at the end of 5, too.

Unless King Arthur is actually David then that would make Link David which means Doomguy is actually David which means Mars is actually Hyrule which is actually Camelot which is actually Jerusalem which is on Earth which means Mars is actually Earth but Earth exists right alongside Mars which means our Earth is in a different dimension which means our Earth is actually Lorule and our David is actually Ravo.

a 10-year-old with jugs that can put many adult women to shame

Who was this?

Okay, May wasn't THAT big, but she was still pretty well-endowed for a ten-year-old.

Edit: Just noticed which Gen I posted this in, lol. Oh well, he did say after the Orange League so it still kinda counts.

Yeah, now that I think about it, the kid characters in Pokmon always seem to look older than they should. That's not just exclusive to the anime characters like Ash and Misty, either. In some of the more recent main line Pokmon games, the main characters now look so old fans thought that they were no longer ten but, instead, around fourteen. I guess GameFreak noticed because, in Sun and Moon, an NPC in the game comes the closest to flat out telling you that your character and one of their friends (can't remember which one) are ten.

The protagonists in B/W, B2/W2, and X/Y were all slightly older iirc. The protagonists in B/W were 16.

Is there a place where I can look up their official ages for myself? I can't seem to find it with a simple Google search and a lot of people who are asked about the protagonists' ages either point out that they look too old to be 10-11 (which, as of Sun and Moon proved, doesn't mean anything in the Pokmon world) or they point to the Pokmon Adventures manga which, if I remember correctly, had a large chunk of the Kanto gym leaders and the Elite 4 working for Team Rocket as well as characters like Yellow who have never stepped a toe in the main line games so I'm positive those aren't canon.

Also, I'm only interested in their ages when their journeys began. I have no problem believing that, by Sun and Moon, Red and Blue are no longer children.

The only thing I've heard that's close to an "official" age is that apparently the creators wanted the B/W MCs to be older than previous gens. Not sure how true that is, and I only heard it about B/W and no further than that. Not even for B/W2

Should've just made a 3-season TV series instead. Then they would have much more time to cover everything rather than shoving it down into a 2-3 hour film.

Novels in general lend themselves better to Television than movies because no one wants to sit in a theater for 10+ hours straight.

While on the topic of things that don't make sense in the movie, why was everyone making a big deal about IOI getting the third key? The keys are useless (but not worthless) unless you have all three.

Because then they would have had all three. The keys aren't one-of-a-kind items. Only one per player but every player could have a copy of all three keys.

As for why there were multiple copies instead of making them one-of-a-kind, in the book there was a scoreboard that tracked the progress of the players. Basically, a leaderboard because the guy who made it was the biggest gaming nerd in history. Yeah, no real point behind that other than plot device so that the baddies can figure out which players to go after.

-1 to me for being enough of a giant robot nut to wonder why the guy picked Gundam and not a heavier hitter like, say, Mazinger Z or Voltron.

For Voltron, it's probably because they'd need the individual Lions which would have been great in the movie as there were five in the main group, but they'd also have to bring up why they were never mentioned or shown before that point. They didn't have that problem with one of the late additions having a trump card because of being a late addition.

As for Mazinger versus Gundam that's matter of recognizably to the western audience really. Licensing may have also played a role too since Gundam is probably easier to license than other mechs from that time period.

The book actually has a few more mechs than the movie, but honestly you may dislike that sequence in the book more. Not gonna spoil why though.

^It's also important to note a couple other things as well. For instance, the easter egg hunt doesn't begin until well into The Oasis' lifespan. Many of these things were undoubtedly in the game years prior to the hunt starting which means anything done prior to that point wouldn't trigger anything. People could have done the race backwards but did it well before the hunt. Same goes for all the other puzzles.

There's also just the sheer size of the game itself. FF9 had a sidequest go undiscovered for years and it's not even a sliver of a fraction of the size of The Oasis. In fact, FF9 is probably part of a Playstation One FF planet within The Oasis. That's a shit ton of data to comb through for something that got secretly added and later activated without any notification.

That said, the puzzles in the book were definitely handled better for sure.

I enjoyed both, but they definitely had problems. I went into the book only expecting a bunch of pop culture references from the 80s which is exactly what I got. The actual stor on its own would've have turned me away in the first couple of pages.

"Meet Wade Watts, his dead-beat father abandoned him and his mother died from drug abuse after struggling to raise him. Now he lives with his bitch of an ant and her asshole boyfriend in a trailer park. Oh, did I mention that it's a dystopian society because it is."

For fuck's sake, talk about stacking as many cliches as possible to try and wring every ounce of sympathy from the audience, goddamn. Tat alone was enough for me to completely dismiss the actual story and just focus on the nostalgia factor.

Generally if they're guesses that are so obviously wrong then I won't dock a question (i.e. someone asked if it was dual-type, I said yes, then someone asked if it was Mienshao, which is not dual-type, so I didn't dock a question).

In that case, you shouldn't have docked a question for Salazzle since it was already established that it wasn't Gen 7 and it wasn't a fire type.
