really hard to find the motivation on this one but i do want to get through it and start on that time loop game

so i backtracked out of the final dungeon to look for some supplies, specifically stuff for amarant to throw

i kinda feel like that was a sign of running out of budget? there was so much production made of everyone pairing off, and they even designed models for two of the other bosses, as well as some interiors...

one thing i don't love about ffix is that you have to use zidane all the time. in ffviii the cast sucked so you always wanted squall anyway, while in ffvii cloud still outshone everyone by enough

i also just want to level everyone evenly and this obviously is thrown off

give me more party splits

also for fuck's sake virus is annoying

did the party split really involve a single 2 party-member boss fight

been a busy few weeks in terms of having people over plus pokemon. think i'll get some in these next few days. i'm leaning against doing much side questing; i caught some frogs but i'm bad at it and it's frustrating lol

is there something weird about i. castle? eiko and dagger hit harder physically than zidane and quina

love this wall that you just can't seem to defeat until you finally rest...

it's been absolute insanity. been wearing a mask outdoors.

haven't had time to play. being sick sucks!

i did a little frog catching before/right when i got quina before the storylibe asked for it, and i caught like 2-3 frogs the first time i went to the northeen continent. otherwise no sidequests at all

do any of these take over like 3 hours? if they do i"m probably out, but otherwise i'm pretty game to see some fun stuff

i've done zero related to chocobos this game

any suggestions on side quests now that I've got the airship?

i have to assume letting amarant do his thing is good right....?

also dagger's haircut looks worse as a sprite but fantastic in her portrait

that sounds right about EXP, but yeah it definitely greyed them out so they (i think it was zidane and dagger) didn't earn anything.

so apparently virus means i don't gain exp - that's annoying...

it's quite annoying that tents do not restore 100% healing or cure status effects

for that matter what does "trouble" do

oh hey, i got annihilated on my first random encounter in estogarza due to stop. what an absolute bullshit spell. lost about 30 min of random encounter exp probably.

also i just literally traversed the entire forgotten continent's perimeter to end at estogarza, which was almost right next to my ship

this trip did inform me to equip body temp tho

what the heck is magic element null

i like scanning the first time i encounter an enemy, and it's useful for trying to eat them!

i used slow a few times vs bosses but yeah that's about it

i do find it annoying that Scan doesn't seem to work on strong enemies

too brainwashed by pokemon where poison is a trash attack type

crazy talk! i think quina actually has those already. i try to eat/rob when i can and i think that continent with oeilvert had the earth spell, while the bird on the northern continent had a wind spell...

the lack of offensive magic this game has been kinda surprising

i think i have yet to even get a wind or earth spell for my boy the black mage

wasn't clear to me how to exit kuja's sandcastle; i saved in the spot before fighting the security system thing (lol)

yeah i've actually basically spent down all my money every time i've had a shop with weapons this game. tons and tons of potions/high potions, plus the equipment is expensive!

man, i really lucked out then! i feel like i did succeed in casting the regen dragon spell with freya - i guess it's specifically black/white magic that can't be used?

ah, yeah. since i had zidane/freya/amarant/quina, i didn't even notice the anti-magic stuff. can you heal outside of battle using magic?

also what a weird mythology dump about the futuristic society that we went to for that guleg stone or whatever it was called. kinda suspect that thread won't go anywhere!

it does yeah, but sometimes you have to approach it from a specific angle or something - and it's often not obvious what the ! is for.

also i've had an issue with hitting A too quickly and choosing the top option of a lot of dialogue options this game.

i died to a random encounter featuring two birds who both did this, in the dungeon preceding ark

the one random encounter boat that keeps using cannon to halve my hp also sucked

managed to make it back to my parties reuniting though. hilariously eiko leads that party, though the game quickly corrects the female agency but having her get kidnapped immediately after this segment

lighting the flames was pretty satisfying to walk through but it is really not obvious what is interactive this game
