anyway, looking forward to the top bit of the list! imagining that i'll see at least 5ish anime i recognize in the top, but i suppose i have no real reason to believe that if patterns hold!

so between the last time i commented on an anime i've seen, you've posted a few (mostly in a row)!

- monogatari - absolutely unwatchable for me. i think i might have finished season 1 but it might have been just a few episodes? this visual style was atrocious and the protagonist was awful and i don't remember anything about it but probably couldn't be bothered to try it again

- my hero academia - yeah, this is around right for it - i thought there might be more to it (think i'm somewhere in S4-S5) but it kind of became clear it's "just a kids' show" at some point. that said some of the battles were still very enjoyable, especially all might vs one for all; the overall show itself just isn't super-gripping to me

- death note - don't necessarily agree on the best arc - to me it actually preceded the memory arc, which i found mostly overwrought until the payoff (which admittedly was tremendous). the back half of the show obviously isn't as good but i don't feel like it ruined it at all to me. suffered a little bit from its (necessarily) paper-thin cast.

- steins;gate - to me the first half was a lot more enjoyable than the second half; i really liked the slice-of-life with a twist. also wasn't particularly impressed with the main love interest as a character. i think when you drastically raise the stakes like S;G did at the beginning of its second half, you need more emotional variety, but its tone kind of just stayed there. that said - the final arc and solution was pretty neat and that's always a nice plus.

i've gone through the main game (20-30 hours?) and the requiem of innocence (8-12?) - latter is mostly tedium and it's largely killed momentum/urgency to go further into expansion content, though i still have some desire

i considered doing this ranking but realized there was no way i'd be able to watch through them all, but i'd seen around half the list. so far, i've seen very few though (maybe only little caesar?)

My oldest daughter has all of my childhood Calvin and Hobbes books now and she loves them. We also got her a stuffed tiger that happens to look like Hobbes but really isnt because licensing. Still named it Hobbes though. This is from 8 years ago, but still one of my favorites.

I started trying to do deadlifts again at the start of the year. Set one I did an easy dozen at 225 without a belt, so figured fuck it why not add another 50 pounds. I threw out my back somewhere around 5 or 6 reps. So that was a fun day of lifting legs.

i'm pretty sure it was right at 275 when i first threw my back out doing deadlifts, and it took me almost a week to feel normal again. that has put me off so, so hard from deadlifts, even though i was able to do so much more "back in the day"

i don't really understand how but i've lost strength on the bench even this year when i've been going a reasonable amount. managed 275x4 today but it was a big struggle.

haven't deadlifted in years and my 5-rep squat is somewhere in the low 2 plates

trying to build consistency again but it's difficult and my stamina is miserable, and probably made worse by going in the mornings
