Just face it, people. Legal adulthood and age of consent are both arbitrary. A line does need to be drawn to protect minors, but it's silly to act like every instance of a grown adult dating a minor is totally wrong.

And I'm not advocating for grown adults to date minors. To be honest, the more I think about this subject, the more I wonder if it would be best for someone to be asexual. That's probably the most objective approach to sex and romance; don't give a shit about any of it.

If you're gonna bring up neurological development, you should argue that the age of consent should be 25. By that logic, it's wrong for even 21 yos to bang.

But it's a fact that age isn't directly linked to maturity and experience. 16 yos can be mature and experienced; the traditional one isn't, but some are. And there really isn't a grand difference between 16 and 18. People don't magically change the moment they hit an arbitrary age that society deems acceptable.

The truth is that things like age of consent and legal adulthood are ultimately arbitrary. If this conversation makes you flip out, then you're probably in denial about something.

There is no specific way for an age to look. Puberty affects everyone differently. A 16 yo can look like the traditional grown adult, and a grown adult can look like the traditional 16 yo.
