Here's a comparison.

SS1 Goku, SS1 Vegeta, SS1 Trunks ... and "SS2" Gohan:

Gohan does not stand out from the SS1s here. He looks like he could be in the same form as them.

But check this out:

BOOM! Now he stand out! Why? The red eyes. Simple change that is noticeable.

From the little info you gave, it seems like you're a perfectionist. The idea of failing school and failing in general caused you to just drop out.

Schoolwork wasn't what stressed me out. It was easy to get good grades.

I was stressed out by other things, like how I felt like an outcast in school. I wasn't bullied, but I just felt insignificant and awkward in that environment. I stopped going to school because I wanted to leave that environment. I eventually got a high school diploma in the end, though.

And your fears also prevent you from going out of your comfort zone (ie dating, job hunting, becoming independent), because you're afraid of failing or messing up.

No, Z and GT had fairly considerable differences in their art styles. Colors in GT looked deader, too.

Plenty of games have custom character features; how is it suddenly worse when Sonic does it? The Sonic fanbase isn't the only fanbase known for stupid fan-characters, and furthermore, you're creating your own character. Not like some creepy fanfic writer is creating one for you.

Including a custom character feature was a smart move on Sega/Sonic Team's part. This will certainly be the game's biggest selling point. My only problems with this game so far are that Classic Sonic is completely unnecessary and the custom character gameplay looks too slow-paced.
