so with no context it's offensive

key word, offended

anyone who acts on being offended is an ass as it is and probably deserves what they're called

Lemme guess, straight white male who doesn't bat an eye to racism? Of fucking course your ass is too blind to see it. It is perfectly logical to suspect someone who goes straight to the N word as an insult for someone given the word's connotations. The whole "durp just a word" argument is so shitty. The connotations were around for DECADES and still to this day exist. Maybe because you've never been called it, or any word in such a derogatory fashion because you're white, but that doesn't mean everyone is as privileged as you.

EDIT: I don't even like using the term "privileged," but if your ass is too narrow minded to see the basic facts, then that is descriptive of you.

I worked with 5 Australians when I was working for Corus (Canadian Radio/TV Company).

It was explained to me that the C word has to have context, and works better if you call someone a Miserable C*** rather than just the word itself.

Do they use the n word specifically that commonly in their vernacular? Then sounds like a lot of them are shitty/scummy people. That doesn't make it any more right. There's a lot of people in the KKK but that sure as hell doesn't make what they stand for okay.

What I'm saying is if someone calls you a word with no context and you react in a violent way (rather than walking away from said person), you are an ass. It's like biting a troll. This person knows nothing about you and whatever they are saying is just to bait you into a reaction.

No you are not the "ass" for being upset to someone calling you a word people used for CENTURIES to demean a fucking race. Are you high? How do you not have a grasp on rudimentary connotations? The asshole is clearly the actual fucking racist, not the person being demeaned and shit on just for living their life.

Also do you not know what "ignorant" means? Because you sound pretty dumb saying "lol" when everything you have said on this matter has been perfectly indicative of pure ignorance to the connotations and meaning behind the word. Especially if you think it's remotely comparable to calling someone a c***.

Firstly, you basically just used the n word in a negative manner to describe certain people. You're scum. No doubt about that.

Secondly, maybe you shouldn't say such a vitriolic word? How hard is that to understand?

Like I said, go say the n word to a black person. If the word doesn't mean anything, there should be no problem right?

No actually. There's a reason this blew up. Plenty of black people were upset because it's very ignorant of him to use such a derogatory term so lightly. No 100% non-racist person defaults to saying the n word just because they're upset over a dang video game. Does him saying that word make him racist? Of course not, and he manned up and apologized, so personally I'm okay with it, but anyone who isn't okay with his actions are 100% justified. There's no even debating this.

But what is also important, is the intent of the word from the user and his or her motive in using that word. Some people, whether you like or not, like to use the n-word as a casual insult among friends they know aren't offended by it. And believe or not, many of those people who use the word are not racist at all.

but the intent would have no reasoning or meaning behind it either, which is why it is and will continue to be called out for being absurd

to willingly acknowledge the distinct racial history and impact of it as a slur but then choose to use it as an insult regardless is to either disregard the reality/severity of it or to find humor in its extremity while disregarding those disparaged by it
subbing it in in private with friends who also don't care doesn't then grant it some sensible usage, so of course people are going to call you shitty when it leaks out

Think of it less like just Pewdiepie and more like the general population of Youtubers and Instagramers.

A good majority of them don't have handlers or even talent for that matter. So once they start getting famous and lots of money, there is nobody around to tell them to knock it off. This happened to the extreme with Jake Paul. He got huge really quickly, and then ended up thinking he was invincible. Now he's in the middle of two lawsuits.

Pewds will likely get a lot of his videos demonetized or taken down. But I do think the actual problem is that nobody is around to teach a lot of these kids HOW to properly behave or act. So they just do whatever.

You don't see legit actors or celebrities doing this shit. Usually when they fuck up, it's like a once in a life time situation.

I think what a lot of people who don't this is a big deal is forgetting that many impressionable, young kids watch Pewdiepie. So, when he does something like this, some of those kids are going to start thinking it's okay to do what he does for they want to imitate their role model. As silly as this may sound, there are a bunch of children who look up to this guy and that needs to be taken into account here.

The "It's just a word" mentality is wrong and we do not want the next generation growing up thinking that.

Or this youtube/instagram/snapchat generation is so filled with hearing people use the "N" word constantly they've become desensitized to it.

It's just a word, and it's used freely by blacks. If you follow any hip hop artist, or hell, any hip hop account on social media you're bombarded with the word. That's just in social media, never mind music.

It's hard to teach your kids not to do something, when someone elses kid can do it freely with no repercussion.

Social Media has also kind of screwed with people's perception too. A lot of young kids say extremely dumb shit on it, and so do a lot adults. Thinking that because they are "hidden" that they can get away with it.

Before this whole craze came around. If you said that same shit, you'd get your ass kicked, and then promptly learn a lesson you can and cannot say.

lmfao i only know a few black people on the internet who got mad. it was mainly white American's causing a stir. No black man I know irl would ever watch a youtuber named pewdiepie.

Anecdotal evidence is a shitty argument. The connotations are blatant to anyone with half a damn brain. It's fine to not be upset about this issue (I personally am not), but it's nothing but outright stupidity to say that "only white people care" or brush this off as a non issue. Anyone who knows the bare minimum knows the negative connotations and how that word was used to demean an entire race of people just for fucking living their lives for CENTURIES, so it makes entirely no sense to act as if those offended are not justified, or to act as if this is such a minor issue.

No non-racist person would even consider using a word like this.

That's one thing that gets me. He said "sometimes I forget that I'm on stream" which heavily implies that he has used it before and probably wouldn't have cared if he weren't on camera.

Though as with some other users itt, it could just be a result of incredibly amounts of ignorance due to being a foreigner (and also being white and not understanding the hatred that comes with the word). Obviously not all white people do not understand or it's solely because he is white, but it could be a factor given the context.

I think it's that a lot of these Youtubers or Social Media stars don't have handlers or any moral compass. A lot of them ONLY apologize (very poorly), when it affects their views and ad revenue.

And most of the time they don't even really mean it.

It's hard to teach your kids not to do something, when someone elses kid can do it freely with no repercussion.

exactly. black people need to stop using the word and drop the stupid take ownership bullshit.

Who the fuck are you to dictate what words I can and can't use? Especially when your people called my race that word for hundreds of years in public, and now that we use it amongst one another as endearment and demand y'all stop using it to degrade us, y'all have a problem? Gtfo

Who are you to dictate what we can say? A majority of us say it's cool. Don't like it? Tough.

You're clearly the ignorant one if you think a rapper has never used the word ending with "er"

I'm not sure if you don't know what ignorant means or you're just dodging my point, but you're still ignorant for not knowing the difference.

Also let's see you post some of these that actually used the "er." Only time I've ever heard it used is when it was explicitly used as an insult. So let's hear it, I'm all ears.

Well said, brother but, they won't. The N word is offensive? Then why are Black people saying this? Fuck the double standard. Why are Blacks more entitled to say that word then us? They said then so could I.

This guy is a shitposter btw. Just prefacing it so no one will take him seriously.
