TopicReport: North Korea now making missile-ready nuclear weapons

http://www.cnn.com/2017/08/08/politics/north-korea-missile-ready-nuclear-weapons/index.html

Washington (CNN) - North Korea has taken a major step forward in realizing its goal of becoming a nuclear power, according to a Washington Post report on a confidential US intelligence assessment that concludes Pyongyang has developed a nuclear warhead capable of fitting inside its missiles.

The Washington Post first reported details of the assessment on Tuesday just hours after North Korea threatened 'physical action' in response to punitive sanctions unanimously passed by the United Nations Security Council over the weekend.

"The IC [intelligence community] assesses North Korea has produced nuclear weapons for ballistic missile delivery, to include delivery by ICBM-class missiles," the assessment states, in an excerpt read to The Washington Post.

CNN has not independently verified the report.

The Washington Post story says that it is not known if North Korea has successfully tested the smaller design and does not indicate whether the assessment's conclusion is the consensus view among US intelligence officials.

CNN has previously reported that US intelligence estimates Pyongyang may have the capacity to deliver a nuclear weapon to the US mainland by early next year and its missile program showed significant progress during two intercontinental ballistic missile tests in July.

Earlier on Tuesday, President Donald Trump was quick to highlight his administration's success in leading the UN Security Council to unanimously pass sanctions on North Korea.

"After many years of failure, countries are coming together to finally address the dangers posed by North Korea. We must be tough & decisive!" Trump wrote in a tweet on Tuesday morning.

This story is breaking and will be updated.

TopicDavid Letterman returning to TV with Netflix talk show

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/david-letterman-returning-tv-netflix-talk-show-1027577

Two years after signing off CBS' The Late Show, David Letterman is returning to the small screen.

The longest-serving host in U.S. late-night TV history is set to topline a new talk show for Netflix. The untitled six-episode series will premiere in 2018.

Unlike The Late Show, each hourlong episode of the Netflix series will be prerecorded and feature Letterman conducting longform conversations with a singular guest as well as exploring topics on his own — outside of the studio. A guest list has not yet been revealed.

"I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix. Here's what I have learned, if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely," Letterman said.

The series is produced by RadicalMedia (What Happened, Miss Simone? and Oh Hello on Broadway and Abstract: The Art of Design) as well as Letterman's Worldwide Pants banner.

"Just meeting David Letterman was a thrill; imagine how exciting it is for me to announce that we will be working together," Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said. "David Letterman is a true television icon, and I can’t wait to see him out in the wild, out from behind the desk and interviewing the people he finds most interesting. We’ll have to see if he keeps the beard."

Letterman hosted more than 6,000 episodes of late-night talk shows during his time on NBC's Late Night as well as CBS' The Late Show over 33 years. As a writer, producer and performer, he collected 52 nominations and 10 wins. He's a two-time Peabody Award winner who will be honored with the Mark Twain Prize in October. He has interviewed virtually every presidential candidate as well as cabinet officials while also shedding light on topics including world hunger and climate change. (During his career, he has interviewed President Trump multiple times.)

Letterman announced plans to step down from The Late Show in 2014, signing off the air in 2015 with nearly 14 million viewers tuning in to see his farewell.

"I'm feeling anxious. I find, since I don't have a show anymore, I can't stop talking," Letterman said in a December story in which he interviewed Tina Fey for THR.

The series expands Netflix's talk show footprint beyond Chelsea Handler's weekly talk show, which changed its format in its sophomore season to expand to an hour with more in-depth interviews, bigger field pieces and trips to India, Europe and more.

http://www.tmz.com/2017/08/03/dukes-of-hazzard-tom-wopat-sexual-assault-finger-butt-cocaine-drugs/

Tom Wopat allegedly grabbed a woman's butt and put his finger between her butt cheeks, and that's why he was arrested for felony indecent assault.

According to the police report, obtained by TMZ, Wopat was rehearsing his show, "42nd Street," at the Reagle Theatre in Waltham, MA on July 23 when a woman on the set claims he walked behind her and she felt his hand grab her butt. She also says she felt his fingers go between her butt cheeks.

She complained to one of the honchos about the incident, and Wopat was confronted. According to the police report, he denied touching the woman and said, "F*** them all."

There are 2 other incidents mentioned in the police report, both occurring during rehearsals. In one case a woman says he came up from behind her and wrapped his arm around her hip and lower waist, pulling her into him. In another instance a woman says he peeled sunburned skin off her arm.

When Wopat was arrested Wednesday, he told cops at the station he did not inappropriately touch anyone, but recalled a time he was seated and one of the women walked by him and he "lightly touched her hip" and said to her, "I like the way you work."

Wopat told cops he flirts and likes to be friendly, but never did anything untoward.

As for the drug charge, cops say when they booked Wopat they found a plastic bag containing what they believe was cocaine in his front pocket, along with a blue straw. Cops say they searched Wopat's vehicle and found baggies inside, one of which contained what they believe is also cocaine.

The police report also says one of the honchos in the show reprimanded Wopat for showing up to rehearsal under the influence.

TMZ broke the story, Wopat was arraigned Thursday and pled not guilty for felony indecent assault and battery as well as a misdemeanor drug possession charge.

http://www.startribune.com/1-dead-others-trapped-in-minneapolis-building-explosion/438110783/

An explosion late Wednesday morning at a building at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis trapped people, fire officials said. The fire department initially said one person had died, but then said the fatality was not confirmed.

The building in the 3100 block of West River Parkway has collapsed to some degree, and fire crews are on the scene extinguishing the blaze and looking to remove any people who might be trapped, officials added.

As of 11 a.m., paramedic crews were treating people at the scene for injuries.

A statement from school administrators said the explosion involved a natural gas leak affecting only the upper school.

They said that any families that wish to pick up children should use Edmund Boulevard to the south of the private school’s campus.

A ballistic missile launch was detected from North Korea on Friday, the Pentagon said.

"We are assessing and will have more information soon," said Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman.

Japan's prime minister says what is believed to be a missile may have landed in the sea.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told reporters that officials are analyzing the apparent launch and that he has called a meeting of the National Security Council.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that the object flew for about 45 minutes, the Reuters news agency reports.

This is a developing story.

Frank Sinatra's fourth and final wife, Barbara Sinatra, has died ... almost 20 years after her famous husband passed.

Barbara died Tuesday at her Rancho Mirage home in California after months of declining health ... according to a rep for her org, the Barbara Sinatra Children's Center Foundation.

The rep told the Desert Sun ... "She died comfortably surrounded by family and friends at her home."

Barbara married Frank in 1976 and remained his wife for nearly 22 years -- the longest of his 4 marriages. She made a name for herself as an advocate for victims of child abuse, building up her foundation with Frank's help.

The Barbara Sinatra Children's Center Foundation provided counseling to child abuse victims, among other services. Barbara and Frank did not have any children together.

She was 90. RIP

Chester Bennington 911 Call
http://www.tmz.com/2017/07/24/chester-bennington-911-call-housekeeper-hanging/

Chester Bennington's housekeeper cried and screamed in the background as a driver for the Linkin Park frontman made the 911 call to report his suicide.

Cops just released the 911 call made by the driver, who was most likely there to pick up Chester for a scheduled photo shoot. He told the operator, "I just got to the location and his housekeeper came out and said he killed himself ... he hung himself."

As the driver relayed more details, the housekeeper was absolutely distraught in the background ... crying hysterically as she spoke to Chester's wife on another phone.

TMZ broke the story ... Bennington hanged himself in his bedroom, in an eerily similar way to his friend, Chris Cornell. Chester's family was out of town, and Thursday morning the housekeeper found his body.
